Chapter Eight..

Together. My hands locked with yours. You and me, side by side. That was what I wanted. But can I say the same for you?
My heart aches when I see you with her. But I have no control over your feelings; its yours, not mine. Only you can say and do what you feel because in the end,
"The heart wants what it wants."

The wheel finally came to a stop. His jacket stilled wrapped around me, we walk towards a snacking station nearby. "Would you like anything to drink or a snack?" he asks. Before I could even respond, my phone rings violently. I look at him first and excuse myself.
"Its okay, answer it. I'll wait over by the benches." he smiles. I look down at my phone once again, Mom.
"Hey hun, how's everything? Are you okay? Please let me know when you're coming home. Your father and I are waiting in the living room," she says.
"I'm fine mom, I should be home soon. Don't worry. I'll call you." I say in reply. The conversation wasn't long, maybe a good three minutes. We said our goodbyes as I turn around and walk back uphill to look for Matt.
My heart drops, as I see him in sight.
Matt's arms wrapped around Brooke's waist and her hands cuffing his cheeks as they kiss.I knew it, something was wrong!
Of all people, he chose me!
Of all people that he could've hurt, he chose...me.I walk towards them. "Thanks for the jacket, but have fun with your date, maybe she'll need it instead,"
I begin to push myself past the crowd, trying to get farthest away from him. I hear a faint sound of my name being called, but only making me run faster.Though suddenly, an arm grasps onto my shoulder. I turn and meet eyes with a grinning Brooke, "Oh sweet Claire, did you really think Matt liked you? This was all just a game, a game I enjoyed playing very much, thank you."
Ashamed of myself that I gave into this. Ashamed of myself that I liked him in the first place..

I leave the park, not knowing where to go next. I continue to slowly walk down the narrow sidewalk alongside the busy street. Shivering in the cold, the warm tears that poured down my cheeks, were the only thing giving me warmth this time.
The clear dark sky that I thought was so beautiful then, was now crying too. Thick gray clouds began to build up, covering the stars that I thought shined so brightly before, and now so faintly I couldn't even see them. The beauty that I saw earlier, no longer existed in my eyes.
I ran to the bus stop, about a block over to avoid getting soaked from the rain. I pay for my ticket in and sat in the middle row. The driver waits for a few others to get in as well and shuts the doors.
I look out the window as the bus slowly begins to drive off and watch the raindrops slowly drip down the fogged glass outside. A blurry figure running along side the bus, catches my eye. Matt. His hair and clothes are soaked from running in the rain, and his lips move violently as if he's yelling; yelling my name.
Thankfully, the bus begins to speed up, drowning out the sound of his voice.
Note:
I'm honestly so proud of this chapter guys! I'm been reading so many books lately, which is odd because I don't read often lol so I think that might be a part of why my writing is a bit different from the beginning of the book. ALSO!! How about that little quote thingy in the beginning though, its Selena's song but I really liked it so I thought I would use it (-: Anyways hope you guys like it!xoxo,
