The next week Mitsuki spend the time home. Of course they told her to be at home so she could get some rest after that horrible execution. Toshiki, even though they said the same to him, continued to go to school as if nothing happened. The only thing different was when someone talked to him he would just uncomfortablely stare at them until they moved away from awkwardness.
Yui continued going to school, looking horribly messy and tired. Saito heard her cry before sleep, and the first few nights were spent sleepless. She even got a few Bs in school, which wasn't a shock for anyone, knowing what happened.
Yoko looked more angry and furious than usual, trying to figure out desperately who the hell turned Haru in.
Hitomi wasn't even at school, while Saito was still in too much shock to even be suspicious because of that.
He was too terrified of the day of the funeral, which was actually tomorrow. He blamed himself as well, because he couldn't hold Haru down at least a bit. The whole school was noticeably more quiet and sad, since Haru was quite the popular kid.
When the day of the funeral finally did come, it was quite the depressive day. It felt like everything was gray and nothing could better this situation. Satoko drove them to the funeral without any complaints. Yui didn't even argue when Saito didn't put on his shirt correctly, even though he looked like an idiot.
When they arrived they saw all the people dressed in black. Hitomi was the first one they saw. Her face finally had an appropriate facial expression, seriousness. She blankly looked at the floor.
Yoko looked like she was on the verge of crying, Yui didn't have any more tears to spill and Toshiki looked, as usual, uninterested.
Saito looked deeply disturbed. Just looking at this scene was horrible. Mitsuki walked up to them. Her usual tan skin was now pale and she had really noticeable bags under her eyes.
"Hi..." Saito greeted awkwardly.
"I'm overjoyed you people came to Haru's funeral." Mitsuki gave a weak smile."I... I never really understood him." Yui muttered loudly.
Everybody was quiet. They knew it would come to this.
"He always wanted to protect people, but he never protected himself. That's just stupid." She smiled.
"Or how he's on the football team, even though he's horrible at it." And her tears started to stream.
"Haru would always just come from football practice all beaten up and bruised. And when I asked him why he kept doing it..." Yui started to shake.
Saito tried to convince her not to come. He knew this was too much for her. He knew this was going to happen, she would have a breakdown."And he just said that it's because his friend wanted to be the best football player in the world!"
She fell on the floor, breathing heavily.
"I don't get him!" She screamed.
Yui had these breakdowns sometimes. She did go to a psychologist about this and of course he gave her pills. People started surrounding her I'm curiosity and worry.
"Yui, take your pills..." Yoko demanded.
Yui didn't listen. Yoko had to force her to calm down and take her pill.
After she calmed down she felt ashamed. She just made a scene where she shouldn't have. Again, she blamed herself.
"I just wanna know who reported him..." Yoko said in a very angry tone.
"I could bet my life that Toshiki did it." Hitomi suddenly started talking.
Yoko didn't look amused.
"Don't be ridiculous! He would never betray Haru like that!" Yoko defended him fiercly.
"She's telling the truth." Toshiki spoke up the first time in this whole week.
Yoko looked shock while Hitomi just had a 'told you so' face.
"How could you!?" Saito reacted immediately.
"Either he died or Mitsuki, Yui and you. Three lives against one. That was the plan. It was to be demanded to follow Mitsuki to the school. A lot of bad stuff would've happened if that didn't happen." He stated in his monotone voice.
"Don't you feel any guilt...?" Yoko whispered, trying to look him in the eye.
"That..." Toshiki started in a very unusual, a bit expressive voice, but stopped himself
"That doesn't matter." He continued in his usual cold voice.
"Just stop with the logic bullshit! Try thinking with your morality a bit!" Yoko yelled, looking ready to punch him."You mustn't fight right on Haru's funeral!" Mitsuki came between them, sounding like she was going to cry again.
"Don't you know how Yui feels?! She loved him!" Yoko was so close to crying.
"Please don't make a scene!" Yui yelled angrily.
"I made enough of a scene by myself! I don't need your help!" Yui stated angrily while crossing her arms.
Yoko glared at him for a while before turning away. She was too angry to even look at him.
"I don't know what I see in him..." She mumbled under her breath.
Toshiki heard that clearly and decided not to comment. Why would he?
"I have trust in Toshiki. If he says this was mandatory, then I think Haru was executed for the greater good..." Mitsuki said with a small smile pointed at Toshiki.
Saito wasn't that understanding though. How could he just turn in his own adoptive brother? They probably spent their whole lives together. Everyone has the right to live, and there always was a chance that Haru would calm down.
After the funeral all of them went home in silence. Only Hitomi decided to in a different direction by herself, muttering something about 'not in the mood'. Yui and Saito's house was the closest, then Mitsuki and Toshiki's.
Mitsuki walked in the house as soon as they came, but Toshiki stuck around for a bit. Yoko eyed him weirdly.
"Are you going inside or what?" She asked irritabley.
He stared for a bit and sighed. As soon as he was closing the door, Yoko heard him say something.
"Sorry." And the door closed in an unnaturally fast speed.
Yoko stared at the door for a while. Did she imagine that? Or did he really say he's sorry?
