"Who is that in the background," I asked curiously.
"Jesus Christ," my mom hissed and from the sound of her breathing, I must have freaked her out by my sudden pause and change of conversation.
"Sorry," I chuckled. I swear she thought that I wasn't capable of driving and talking at the same time. Moms.
"Don't worry about who's here or isn't. Call me when you get back to your room," she said calmly.
"Fine," I mumbled and after another I love you, I ended the call. My text tone went off as I set my phone in the cup holder, but it obviously wasn't the time to read it so I continued my drive.
Twenty minutes later and I was in my room with Itza sitting on my bed. Yeah we had that little thing earlier, but she apologized as did I and we got over it. I just wish it was that easy with Léah. We weren't really talking to her, but I wasn't going out of my way. I kinda didn't really know what else to say after she told me that she liked me and Jace.
"So how was work?" Itza crossed her legs and rested her elbows down, holding her chin up with her knuckles.
"A lot of customers and remember Geneva?" I asked as I spun around in my desk chair.
"Oh, yeah! She's in my literature class. Such a beauty!" Itza grinned. "You think she's cute?"
"No-well yeah, but I was just gonna say that she came in and stayed until my shift was over."
"Oh cool. So are you two like friends now?" she started to smile.
"Not really, but I think she's gonna fight me if I don't go to the pajama party thing on Friday."
"We're definitely going. I wanna show off my cute pajama set. Plus Cart-What?" she laughed when I rolled my eyes. "Are you still upset because I think he's cute?"
"No," I laughed. "I just can't believe I actually tried while you just take a few glances at him and you're in love."
"Actually tried?" she repeated. "Don't even. You know you don't even like me like that."
"What if I do?" I did my best to hold a serious expression. I didn't like her in that way, but I really loved to mess with her.
"Oh shut up," her voice came out loud as she reached for one of my pillows and threw it at me. I caught it before I was hit in the face. "You're really annoying."
"Hm, you seem to be the only one who thinks that," I threw the pillow back at her and she caught it, resting her hands on top as it stayed on her lap. "So what about you and Carter, though?"
"What about me and Carter?" she looked down at her nails and I finally noticed that she gets all shy talking about him.
"Wow," I said dramatically and she looked up at me. "I totally see it."
"What are you talking about?"
"You get all shy and awkward."
"I'm not getting shy," her tone said otherwise. "What about him?"
"Do you like him?" I got up from my chair and stood up against my bed in front of her.
"I don't know. He's really cute and sweet and I just wanna kiss him agai-"
"You two kissed?" I asked in shock as my hand came up to my chest.
"I kissed him. It was something spontaneous, but I-I really liked it," a smile appeared on her face and it was cute seeing her like this. It was a different side of her. "It's just a crush."
