I felt warm arms wrap around me leading me to the stage. I looked up and saw Liam. He gave me a fake smile. There were two stools. Two microphones. Too many people. I closed my eyes, and saw her smiling face. I opened my eyes again. People were staring at me. Women with tissues. Men holding strong. Children wide-eyed, but silent. We sat down. I looked down. I adjusted the guitar to how I like it, then microphone. I looked back up, opened my mouth. Words wouldn't come out at first, but finally did.

"Hi. Dixie left a note in this guitar. She said that she wanted us two to sing here. It was her last request. Instead of choosing a song from a different artist, I wrote my own for her. As none of you know, this is her guitar. She said to me that by the end of the summer she would master it. She didn't exactly master it in the real world, but in her head she played beautifully, and in my head she was and always will be the best guitar player out there. So this song is called Safe and Sound." Tears already started falling from my face. We started.

(Paisley)

I remember tears streaming down your face

When I said, "I'll never let you go"

When all those shadows almost killed your light

I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"

But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

(Paisley)

Just close your eyes

(Liam)

The sun is going down

(Paisley)

You'll be alright

(Liam)

No one can hurt you now

(Paisley)

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound

(Liam)

Don't you dare look out your window, darling,

Everything's on fire

(Paisley)

The war outside our door keeps raging on

Hold on to this lullaby

Even when music's gone

(Liam and Paisley)

Gone

(Paisley)

Just close your eyes

(Liam)

The sun is going down

(Paisley)

You'll be alright

(Liam)

No one can hurt you now

(Paisley)

Come morning light

(Liam)

You and I'll be safe and sound

(Liam and Paisley)

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

La La (La La)

La La (La La)

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

La La (La La)
