I jerk awake, gasping for breath. Even after sleeping I feel...drained. Weak. Looking around, I can see why; I'm underground for some reason. What happened? Why am I here?

"Well, that failed spectacularly," a deep voice says.

I scramble to my feet. "Who's there? Where am I?"

The voice laughs. "I can't say I'm not surprised you don't remember," he says.

And just like that, I do. Seeing Lana on stage six years ago, coming to her house four years ago, wooing her in the worst possible way, her rejection, my death, my punishment.

But before all that...

Horror grips my heart as I remember inhaling the red cloud waiting in my home. Horror and fear.

I turn around, searching for the cloud in the lack of light. "What did you do?" I yell. "What did you do?"

"Sorry, Horus," the voice says. "I don't have much time to explain. In summation: I've been possessing you for the last six years or so and have ultimately ruined your chance at having a wife for a good 4,998 more. Give or take."

My horror and fear are threatening to overtake my rational self. Five thousand years without seeing the light of day. "Who are you?" I whisper.

I hear the smile in the voice as it answers me. "Honestly, boy, haven't you figured it out yet?" He teases. "I'm Apophis, the Snake of Chaos. And I've completely ruined your life."

And with that, the voice, the presence I've been hearing and feeling for the past six years, the one driving me to claim Lana as my own in a completely unorthodox way, is gone. I am alone, under the sands, and it's not my fault. I have to warn everyone... But I know that no one will ever hear me.

No matter how much I scream.
