Chapter 7: I want a new punishment

Mia's POV

"Hello Mia."

"AHH!" I yelled dropping all of my books. "Andi you startled me." I added before she helped me get my books and put them in my locker.

"Hi Mia."

"Hi...Emma?"

"Yup, that's me so...I was thinking maybe we should all be friends." she said.

"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault, if I didn't bump into so many people yesterday, you wouldn't be cursed."

"CURSED?!?" they both said. "SHHHHH." I said trying to keep their voices low.

"I'm so sorry."

"What curse?" Emma asked.

"I was cursed when I was a baby. If I bump into too many people in one day, then the last person who I bumped into will be cursed. The only way to avoid the curse is never talk to me ever again." I said walking away.

"Wait A minute." Andi said. DANG IT! "You watch Grolwers too?!?!" she added.

"What no! Teresa does, she's addicted to that show." I said walking back to them.

"Aha! I knew it. There is no curse." Andi said.

"What's Grolwers? and Mia why'd you lie?" Emma asked

"It's a show based on a group of friends who were cursed in the 5th grade." Andi said.

"And I just don't want you to lose your reputation here at Iridium. I'm fine alone. I've been a loner since birth. I'm fine."

"No. I want to be friends. You are very nice, smart and pretty."

"Pretty? Really? Because-" Andi said before Emma bumped her with her elbow.

"Just ignore Andi. She was talking about-"

"Me. I know, It's ok. I'm used to it." I said smiling.

"But you are beautiful Mia. Just need to fix your hair, and get those braces out and fix the way you dress and-"

"I think she gets it Em." Andi said

"Right. Ooo! Idea! Maybe you should come by after school for a makeover! You could sleep over too!" Emma said before Andi and I both made faces.

"I have to study."

"It's friday." Emma said.

"I-uh,uh-"

"-We can't!" Andi said.

"Why not? I need this so that I could-I mean. We, need-"

"to go to swimming tryouts this afternoon. Bummer." Andi said.

"Yeah...I really wanted to put on makeup and dresses and have pillow fights and gossip instead of reading, cooking and playing my-"

"Your what?" Emma said.

"Playing my uh, My favorite game, How fast could you read a 1000 page essay on George Washington." I said.

"Okaaay." they both said. "Have fun with that." Andi said.

"yeah well I gotta get to class so."

"Yeah go ahead." Emma said smiling

Emma's POV

I might've smiled at Mia before she left but inside I knew she was going to be a tough project. Once she was far, I slammed my head into my locker.

"Ouch." I said rubbing on it.

"Don't worry Em. I'll do everything it takes to help you." Andi said.

"Really? What was that all about Andi?!? That was Step 1. Remember? We first became really close over a sleepover."

"Hey. In my defense, you as Vice President of the school, should be there."

"Why me? Why not Maddie?"

"She has an 'emergency appointment' with the Panthers at the dentist aka the salon."

"That's not fair! She's the president!"

"And as Vice, you're supposed to do the things that she can't. And plus, it looks like she really didn't want to go."

"Emma Alonso, please report to the principal's office. Emma Alonso, please report to the principal's office. Thank You."

"That's my que." I said walking away.

*Knock*Knock*Knock*

"Come in!" Mrs. Smith yelled.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Oh yes, take a seat." she said as I sat down. "So, how's it going with Mia?"

"oh, that. She's gonna be harder than I thought. Can I get a new punishment?"

"No!" she yelled standing up. "I mean, unless you want detention for 2 weeks." she added fixing herself then sitting down again.

"Ok. There. I'll just do that."

"I'm not finished." she said. "That includes 3 saturdays. And you have to clean the girl's locker room every friday. Don't forget on Mondays-Wednesdays you're on cafeteria duty." she added.

"What!?!?"

"But that's just your second option, you could still stay with the first one of course." she said.

"Ok fine." I said before sighing. "But I don't think I could show her around school." I added

"That's ok. Forget showing her around. She's only been here for 2 days and she knows more of the school than our president. Just concentrate on making her stay at Iridium High."

"Why is she so important?"

"Shouldn't you be getting to class?" she said before I walked out. That was strange. I need to get to class, I'm gonna talk to Andi afterwards.
