Chapter 9: I made the team!

Daniel's POV

After school, I went straight to tryouts. I texted Mia and asked her if she wanted to meet before but she said she had already left. When I got to tryouts I ran into a girl.

"Hey Andi! I'll be back. I just have to-Woah!" she said before we both fell. But I caught her fall.

"You?" we both said at the same time.

"Emma!" Jax and this girl said running towards us then getting her off of me.

"You alright mate?" Jax asked after he helped me up.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I said before walking towards Emma and her friend.

"You ok Em?"

"Couldn't be any better." she said walking towards me.

"Emma, so we meet again."

"Hi Daniel."

"You guys know each other?!?" Jax said.

"Oh, so this is Daniel." The girl said before walking up to me. "Hi I'm Andi Cruz, her best friend and Captain of the sharks." she added.

"I'm the captain!" Jax yelled then they both went up to each other and started yelling at each other. But Emma and I were just looking at each other, smiling.

"Uhm, are they always like this?" I asked her.

"Well, yeah but it only lasts until-"

"EMMA!" they both yelled.

"That's my que." she said as we both started laughing and she walked over to the both of them to sort things out. As I walked away.

"Hey bro!" Jax said running after me.

"Hey Jax. So, what do I have to do?"

"Well, just get changed and then once you're ready,you'll race either me, Andi or Diego." he explained. "If you beat one of us, you're in!" he added.

"Cool." I said

"The locker room is that way." he said pointing in the direction.

"Thanks." I said before walking to the locker room to change. When I was ready, I got out and saw Jax, Andi, Diego? and Emma waiting for me.

"Am I the only one trying out?" I asked them.

"Well, I already raced 3 swimmers." Diego said.

"And None of them beat him." Emma said.

"Then I raced another 5!" Andi said looking at Diego.

"It wasn't my fault!" he said.

"We were supposed get 4 each!" she yelled.

"GUYS!" Emma yelled.

"And None of them beat her either." Jax said. "So, you're gonna have to race me because Diego and Andi are tired." he added.

"Actually-" Andi said before he interrupted her.

"Ok, let's get going." he said

"Go Daniel!" Emma yelled, then I smiled at her and she smiled back. I think Jax was looking too because seconds later she said, "What? You guys need a new member or else the sharks are dunzo."

"Ready, Set, *whistle*" Emma said. I swam as fast as I could, I really wanted to be on the team, Swimming is one of my passions, besides singing and playing my guitar. And plus, did you hear Emma? If I don't beat Jax, Iridium High won't have a swim team anymore.

Jax's POV

I have this feeling that Daniel likes Emma. But it doesn't matter, she has feelings for me! I wanted Daniel to make the team, I mean he is a cool guy and stuff. But, I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of Emma. So, I just swam, swam like I was in Nationals! But Daniel Beat Me?!?! That's Impossible! When I swim for Nationals, I always win.

"Congrats Daniel! You made the team!" Diego said shaking his hand.

"We are so gonna win Nationals this year! Welcome to the Iridium Sharks!" Andi said

"Thanks guys." he said.

"Hey Daniel!" I said as they all turned around and looked at me, they all know I hate losing, I mean this is the first time someone's ever beaten me. "Congrats Bro!" I said before shaking his hand.

"Thanks Dude." I said.

"You guys should dry off first." Andi said before we both went to the locker room to dry off.

"Hey Pizza on me!" Diego said as we walked to the Seven

Daniel's POV

I made the team! This is awesome news! Since I made the team, Diego offered free pizza and smoothies for the sharks and Emma! Speaking of Emma, we were actually talking on the way there.

"Congrats on making the team." she said.

"Thanks. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I have to text Mia!"

"Who's Mia? You're girlfriend?" she asked but I was texting when she asked.

"Huh? I'm sorry, did you say something? She's gonna be so happy!"

"Right Mia...Is she your girlfriend?"

"Huh? My little chipmunk? No, She's my best friend."

"Your best friend's a girl?"

"Well isn't your's too?"

"Yeah but I'm a girl and-"

"Are you saying boys and girls can't be best friends?"

"No. I'm just saying that she is a very lucky girl to be your best friend."

"I'm the lucky one actually, she was hard to become friends with in the first place. She has no self-confidence and is serious when it comes to school." I said and she just nodded.
