"Hey guys, we're gonna close shop soon." The waitress who'd been serving us said behind the counter. I wanted to tell her off, since the coffee shop normally closed at 20h00pm everyday, I would know, Beks and I loved sitting here till late.

But when my gaze met the sky, I was forced to swallow the words I never said, it was dark out.

"How long have we been here?" I asked Heighton who barely looked phased by the time of hour.

"It's been a good 5hrs believe it or not." He said with a casual smile.

"You're shi-" I was disturbed by my phone ringing on the table. It took everything in me to keep myself from bashing the damn thing against the wall.

I was sick of it ringing before I could get my mind in check and my words on deck. Meghan's influence on that one. And checking the caller ID it was just who my thoughts had been roaming over.

"Oh my gosh babe, I am so sorry, I hadn't expected to take so long," Meghan said immediately after I answered. "I feel so horrible, but I'm on my way."

"How long?" I asked flatly.

"20 minutes max, unless I skip every red light, then it will be less." She taunted.

"You do that." I said, looking at Heighton, who was staring back.

She laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"I hope your bank account is ready for speeding tickets. See you in 20." Meghan hung up.

Heighton had been kind enough to wait with me till Meghan came, but the gods were on my side when he told me he had to go just before Meghan arrived, which saved me from the million questions Meghan would slap me with, that I would have to answer for.

I don't think I was ready for that. I had a full enough plate as it were, with Jayce and everything at home.

Heighton had been such a great distraction from it all that I'd actually enjoyed his presence. Not only was he my thinking board, as Eddie had put it, but a filter too.

"Well I will see you on Monday, again," Heighton said while standing from his chair. He gave me a big smile. "It's been pretty good being with you here."

"Thanks for the day." I said, shifting in my chair. His smile grew at the sound of my words.

"I'm glad to hear that. It's been a mutual delight." He said and shoved his hands into his pockets. He gave me a quick nod and smile, I returned it with a slight wave of my fingers.

The perfect goodbye to a good day, with him that is. He turned on his heels and was gone in a second. I watched him walk away and disappear behind a train of cars across the street.

Not a minute later Meghan strolled casually in.
"Hey honey bunch." She greeted, her cheeks were flustered. Guilt I assumed.

"Hey, can we go now?" I asked, Meghan took a look around the empty shop and nodded.

"Have you been here by yourself?" She asked, her eyes lowered at the table. I reached for my bag and tucked my book in it.

"Uh yeah, why?" I spoke my eyes evading hers.

"Oh nothing. Was Jayce with you?" Meghan asked, I put my guard up. Successive questions following each other, Meghan knew something I didn't.

I raised my head and looked at her. "No, why, what's with the list of questions?"

"Well, I'm asking since there's a phone here and I'd like to know who's it is." Meghan took the phone into her hand and showed it to me.
