I wore the shirt I had on yesterday
To sleep last night
Because it smelled like you.
It reminded me of the looks I got early in the morning
And the glances later that morning
And the smiles shortly after.
Then we spoke.
And you tried to warm me up
And you gave me your jacket
And you drew patterns on the side of my leg.
And we complained about the wind
And I was wrapped against your side.
And you looked at me with those eyes
And you smiled at me the way you used to.
And we brushed fingertips underneath the bleachers
Until you held my hand for the first time in a month.
I can feel it you know
It wasn't just because I was cold and you know it
And I know it
And everyone knew it.
I wore that shirt that your jacket touched to sleep
But when I woke up
It just smelled like bed sheets.
