The cool night air kissed at the smoothness of her skin, leaving goosebumps to form down the exposed warmth of her lean arms. (Y/N) pulled at her ebony cloak that was tied securely around her neck, wrapping it tighter around the curves of her body and right up to her chin. She was stood on an ornate marble landing before the entrance way to the Elvenkings Halls, admiring the iciness of the breeze and the unassuming beauty of the rolling landscape lay before her feet. The last of the bright summer flowers lay dying, shimmering gently with a chilled dew in the moonlight, and the sharp points of surrounding grass shone with a wild silver glare, like a blade being waved about for the kill. A smooth voice from behind abruptly pulled (Y/N) from her thoughts and suddenly sent a tingling shiver down her spine.
"Is the festival not to your tastes?"
(Y/N) had rather quickly left the elaborate celebrations of the Autumn Equinox inside the grandness of the northern Mirkwood castle and stepped out into the night, desperate to look upon the gardens of glimmering roses and juicy wild fruits that scattered the flowerbeds. Her father Eodrid, a trusted advisory to the king of Rohan, had received an invitation not 2 weeks back and begged her to accompany him while looking to see if she could find a suitor. Théoden King wanted nothing more than to make strong connections with the wise elves and most members of his counsel had been advised in such a manor. Her younger brother had taken some of the pressure off by joining the riders and fighting the ever-growing army of orcs, but ultimately all the royal household were interested in was a wedding.
"Oh, King Thranduil-" (Y/N) started to stutter as she turned to face the noise, her breath catching in her throat. The ellon was gracefully sat upon a thick, wooden bench made of sturdy twisted roots. As she acknowledged his presence, he began to swiftly glide over to stand next to the maiden, introducing himself with a rich smirk. (Y/N) could see his honed body underneath the icy blue gown he was wearing, his strong arm muscles visible through the thin fabric. His white-blonde hair hung loosely around his shoulders, framing his handsome features perfectly as his berry-red lips held a small but beautiful smile and his bright blue eyes sparkled in the glow of twinkling torchlight.
"You are (Y/N), Daughter of the adviser to Théoden?" Thranduil cooed, reaching out for her hand and pressing a polite kiss to the silken skin that surrounded her fingertips.
"Yes, sorry. Yes. Yes I am." The girl managed to mutter, loosing control at his touch as she shuffled awkwardly on the spot.
"Well, it is a-" Thranduil paused for a brief moment, taken aback at how good she looked. He chuckled to himself seductively."-pleasure to meet you." He smirked and then placed his palms behind his back and entwined them around each other.
"As it is to meet you, my lord." (Y/N) blushed and looked towards the golden sandals that sat upon her soft, fleshy feet. "It is a wonderful party."
"Then why did you leave?" Thranduil pondered for a moment, again smirking gleefully as he purposely got closer to where the girl was standing, causing her to fluster.
"Forgive my, your highness. It is just...I..." She sighed deeply, forgetting herself for a moment. "-It was not my idea to attend. I never really seem to fit in at such occasions."
"You did not wish to come?" The elf king asked softly, leaning on one arm to glance at her features as she spoke. "Why would that be?"
