'You ready to go?' Blake asked as I emerged from my wardrobe, wearing a grey shift dress, black tights, and a simple long chained charm necklace. He was lying on my bed, flicking through an old photo album filled with photos from my high school experience so far.
'Almost.' I replied, trotting across the room looking for my hairbrush.
'Why do you have so many photo albums?' Blake questioned me. 'You seem like a "put everything on Facebook" person.'
'No I like to keep everything in the photo albums.' I said, as I spotted my hairbrush under my bed and began combing through my locks. 'Facebook could just stop one day, then I'd lose everything.'
Blake closed over the album and stared up at me, with his signature smirk on his face. 'Philosophical.'
I laughed sarcastically as I pulled on my black laced up ankle boots. I leapt off the ground and turned to face Blake, who was still waiting impatiently on my bed. 'I'm ready!'
The two of us headed down the stairs and out the front door. We were on our way to meet Molly and Stephen at Santa Monica pier for the day. Blake's car was in for repairs and Stephen was already out there for work so Blake needed me to give him a ride.
We hopped into the car and I pulled out of the drive way and we made our way to the pier. Blake was playing DJ by plugging his phone into the stereo and we bopped along to some of his weird but wonderful tunes. After a while of jamming, Blake abruptly lowered down the music.
'What's up?' I asked.
'I'm sorry for taking the tyre swing.' He smiled.
I spat out a loud laugh. 'You're quite alright, Woods.' We both chuckled to ourselves and I continued 'that's so weird. I never thought I'd ever like you after that day.'
'In fairness though, I ran so much faster than you did so, I mean I deserved it.' Blake said, cheekily.
I punched Blake playfully while keeping one hand on the steering wheel. 'I clearly told you I was planning on going. Don't even start, Woods!' I laughed.
We pulled into a car park beside Santa Monica pier and found a spot with ease. I parked the car and we headed for the beginning of the pier where we had planned to meet Molly and Stephen. We spotted them chatting to each other and devouring some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. As soon as Molly saw us trotting towards them, she pointed in our direction and gave Stephen a nudge.
'Well you took your time!' Molly yelled playfully across the path as myself and Blake almost made it to them. 'Do either of you guys own a watch?'
I checked the knock off Rolex attached to Blake's wrist and gasped to myself as I read it was half past four. We were meant to be there for 3.45.
'Oh god sorry!' I exclaimed. 'It's my fault.'
'Yeah it literally took her about an hour to figure out something to wear.' Blake said, sarcastically.
'Go home, Woods' I replied, hitting Blake in the arm playfully.
Molly and Stephen gave each other a strange look and then laughed. Blake and I exchanged looks of bewilderment and Blake asked what they were laughing about.
'Oh nothing.' Molly giggled.
'You guys are cute.' Stephen added.
Blake and I began to shuffle along the pier awkwardly, and Molly and Stephen followed. We decided after a while of walking that we'd go on the roller coaster ride in the middle of the pier. We queued for our turn for easily a half an hour before we finally made it to the top of the line, but we were split up. There was only room on the next ride for two more, so Molly darted up to the top of the queue, and stated that she "couldn't wait any longer".
