I'm finally in my room and it's just me and Alexa. "W-what is the quiet room?" I say barely over a whisper. "I've been once and it sucked bad. You never want to go in there. Miss. K locks you in there for about 30 hours or so no food no water nothing. You sit in there with a straight jacket on too. When I got in trouble she put me in there and she came in and beat me. She's a terrible woman." She quivers out. "W-what did you do so bad to get put in there?" "I got out of my room after 10:00 because she forgot to lock the door and I had to go to the restroom, she thought I was sneaking out." "S-so s-she locked you in a room? How terrible." "Yeah, it sucks here." "How long have you been here?"

"About 2 or 3 years now." She whispers while looking out the window. "Do you mind if I ask why are you in here?"

"Well..."

"Y-you don't have to tell me it's okay."

"N-no it's fine I'll tell you. When I was 14 my dad went to the hospital and my mum made me live with my uncle. My uncle was a huge drug addict and would beat me and tell me how worthless I am. I had this huge breakdown and they put me in the loony bin until I was 15 and my mum wouldn't take me back so she signed the papers to make me stay here. I'm pretty much stuck here too until I'm 18." There was a short silence. I feel really bad for her. "I'm so sorry, that's terrible. When do you turn 18?"

"In December, wish it was sooner. I've only been out of this house once since I've been in here." Wow. That. Must. Suck. "Why doesn't she let you guys go out, like to the mall, or hang out with your friends?" "She doesn't want us really in contact with many people until we're allowed to leave this place." "Wow, well at least you're turning 18 in a few months, I'm sure the time will fly by." I try to say as positively as I can. "Yeah, me too."

Miss. Kraine already locked all of our doors and it's only 11:00 p.m. I'm dialing in Michael's number just remembering to call him back. He answers on like the fifth ring.

"Hello?" An unfamiliar voice says.

"Uh hello, is this Michael?"

"Uh no it's his friend Luke, is this Sam?"

"Y-yeah.." I stutter. "I told um Michael that I would call him back when I had the chance."

"Oh, well he's busy at the moment."

"Um well I could call back tomorrow?" I question.

"Uh yeah, you could text me too if you want."

"Okay."

"Alright well Michael wants his phone back, I'll text you later or tomorrow if that's okay with you?"

"Y-yeah, that'd be c-cool."

"Well nice talking to you Sam! Hopefully we get to meet you soon."

"Yeah, hopefully I g-get out of here s-soon."

"Me too, no one should have to live somewhere like tha-" He got cut off by someone yelling in the background. "Luke! Could I have my phone?!" "Yeah, one sec. mikey!" Luke shouts back. "Well that's my cue I should go."

"Okay, nice talking to you. Uh L-luke is it?"

"Yeah, well see ya Sam."

"Biya."

I'm awoken by someone yelling and banging on the doors. "Wake up! Time for chores!" Someone yells. "Uhhh!" Alexa moans whilst putting her pillow over her head. "What time is it Alexa?" She reaches over to the side table very lazily. "It's 6:00 a.m." Why the h**l are we being woken up this freaking early. "Alexa you get to sweep today, Max you dust the shelves, ah and Samantha you can clean the bathrooms." "It's Sam" I whisper under my breath. She just glares at me. "After all chores are completed you may wash up and come eat breakfast." "Yes ma'am", everyone says as we all go to do our chores.

"That was disgusting!" I yell to Alexa while we are washing our hands. "I know the bathrooms get bad here." They really do. "Let's go", Alexa finishes as we head down the stairs to find kids standing around a door and gasping. "What happened?" I whisper into Alexa's ear. "I don't know, follow me." She tugs my hand and pulls me to the other side of the room. "They're all around the quiet room door." She whispers. "There is nothing to see!" Miss. K yells as paramedics pull someone on a gurney out of the quiet room. "Who is it?" I ask. "I'm not sure let's go back to the other side." We go around to the side everyone was standing on just to see Christina on a gurney. "Is she okay?" People begin to question with whispers around the room. "It was suicide ma'am", one of the paramedics state just loud enough for me to hear. "Suicide", people whisper around the room. "Why would she do that?" I whisper into Alexa's ear. "I'm not sure. Maybe she was just sick of this place, I know I am." "You're not going to commit suicide though right?" She shakes her head no. "To your rooms!" "What about breakfast?" Some guy asks. "No! Straight to your rooms and I don't want to hear another word. I'll be up in a minute to lock your doors." "Yes ma'am," everyone murmurs.
