(Seto's POV)
It took us near 3 hours to finally reach the coast. And Mitch wasn't kidding when he said a volcano erupted here. Everything was still smoking with volcanic fumes and there were more than a few small lava lakes. It looks like it had only recently erupted but by what Mitch had told me on the way here, it erupted a little over a year ago.
As I looked out at the islands, one question crossed my mind, how are we going to get there?
"How are we going to get there unless you were able to fit a boat in your saddle bag," I say speaking my mind.
"You underestimate Preston," he said with a smirk.
'What the Nether,' I think,' is he insane? Wait, I take that back'
He rode down the coast a bit where there's a piece of glowstone set in the ground. Mitch dismounted his horse and tied it to a large piece of driftwood. I did the same then followed him back to the piece of glowstone making sure to bring my backpack. As I stood beside Mitch I looked out at the water and the islands. Seeing nothing I looked at Mitch expectantly.
"You really don't see it do you? Look a little deeper," he said chuckling a bit.
I looked out at the water again, this time looking under the water. I spotted something glowing below the surface. As I looked closer I realized it was a lava lamp encased in glass. I looked at Mitch in surprise and he only laughed.
"Follow the lava lamps," he said as he started walking toward the one I had spotted.
I reached out to grab his arm thinking he really was insane but I was to slow and the next thing I know he was walking on water! I watched for a moment before hesitantly following. I put a foot out infront of me, feeling for solid ground. My foot touched it at the same level as the ground I was standing on. I started walking towards Mitch, who was waiting for me at the first lava lamp, feeling for solid ground before stepping. As I finally reached Mitch he only chuckled at my foolishness.
"How did he do this?" I asked.
"Invisible blocks, what else?" He replied with a smile.
Invisible blocks? How could I have been so stupid not to realize this sooner. I facepalmed then looked up in search of the next lava lamp. As I found it I started walking going first this time, no longer afraid. With in minutes, after following about 6 lava lamps, we made it to the edge of the first island.
"Now for the hard part," Mitch said as he pulled out his potion.
I followed his lead and did the same. I drank my potion first and Mitch did the same. I followed him across the island toward the opposite side that was facing the now inactive volcano. As we reached that side I saw more lava lamps in the water. I went to walk towards it and onto the water when Mitch suddenly grabbed my arm stopping me, my foot touched water instead of solid ground. I looked at him thankfully before he walked off into a small cave I hadn't seen before. Moments later he returned and I heard red stone at work. I looked out at the water, the lava lamp I had seen before was moving, shifting into a new position. When if finally stopped moving Mitch followed it around and I saw another piece of glowstone that wasn't there before, most likely activated my the red stone. 'Smart,' I thought.
I followed Mitch across the 'water' and finally to the volcano. What I saw I wasn't expecting. It wasn't a small lava lake, it was anything but that. It stretched from one side of the island to the other.
"I hope you can remember how to swim," Mitch jokes.
I 'tch' my tongue before jumping in. Mitch jumps in soon after. I follow him to a door in the side of the lake. We entered and we immediately fell into a small pool of water putting out our remaining flames. We climbed out and I followed him into what looked like a living room. All of the furniture was made of stone except a few who had cushions with particles coming off of them, 'enchanted furniture, smart' I thought.
I went through the only door in the room off to the side. We went down steps that led to a lower level. This one a bedroom, on a bed against the far wall, a girl in an assassin outfit laid on the bed fast asleep. She had orange particles coming off of her. Sitting on the bed cross legged next to her was no other than Preston. He sat watching her sleep, a small smile playing on his lips. I stepped forward towards the bed, blocking his view of Mitch accidentally. He looked up at me and shot up from the bed, he stood infront of it defensively, fingers twitching. Mitch stepped out from behind me.
"Preston! Don't!" He nearly shouted.
The girl asleep on the bed woke up at his word and shot up from the bed. She stood in a fighting stance beside Preston with her sword drawn. Her eyes landed on Mitch a moment later and she lowered her sword. She put a hand on Prestons arm and he was calm, no longer in a defensive stance after seeing Mitch. She turned to look at me and raised her eyebrow questioningly at me.
"Who's he?" She said motioning to me.
"Seto," Preston muttered.
"What?" She asked in disbelief, putting her sword back in its sheath.
"The one and only," I said shrugging my shoulders.
I looked the girl over and my eyes widened in disbelief just as hers had. It can't be! I thought something had happened to her like her brother. The last time I had seen her was before her brothers disappearance, I never saw her again after that because I had moved to a different village.
As I stood there in disbelief Gavin ran to me and hugged me tightly. She's definitely grown since the last time I saw her, then again so have I since we're close in age. She pulled away and smiled up at me, like she was a child again. I looked over at Preston and he was looking away, avoiding to see the scene. I smiled back at her and she walked and stood next to Preston again.
"Am I missing something?" Mitch asked confused.
"Seto and I used to live in the same village," Gavin explained.
"I never saw him living there, I never actually met him till a little after I met Adam." Mitch said still confused.
"He moved away a few months before you moved there," she continued,"around the same time my brother disappeared."
"Oh, um, well we needed you to come back to the Butter castle with us," Mitch said changing the subject.
"Why?" She questioned.
"You were recently in the Nether," Mitch said and paused waiting for her reaction, she looked down briefly before meeting his eyes again," Herobrine's castle to be exact. And you've been there many other time, taken by Herobrine's guards."
"What does that have to do with anything?" she said crossing her arms.
"We need your help assessing their security and guards, and if needed, a way out of the castle." Mitch explained.
"I guess I could help you with that," Gavin said agreeing and shrugging her.
"Preston, we're gonna need your help too. You know the Nether better than anyone other than Gavin. Will you come with us back to the castle?" Mitch asks.
"I would, but you know I can't, not with..." Prestons words trailed off," not with what I am."
Gavin put her hand on his arm reassuringly," yes you can, if I can help it," she smiled at him and he smiled back at her.
"So when do we leave?" She asked turning to us.
"Whenever you're ready," I answered.
"Welp, Preston do you need to pack anything?"
"No, we can leave now," he asserted back.
"Alrighty then," Gavin said with a smile as she walked ahead of us and left the room.
We stood for a moment looking at each other confused.
"Aren't you guys coming?" She asked as she poked her head through the doorway to the stairs.
"Yeah," Mitch replied and walked to the doorway as Gavin disappeared.
We followed behind him and back up to the main door.
Now the journey back to the castle is going to be the hardest part.....
