Chapter 17

(Seto's POV)

We dismounted our horses, tying them to a tree so they wouldn't run off. The sun had set before we could make it to the castle and we were still a good ways away, so we decided to set up camp rather than travel at night. Traveling at night is dangerous and we didn't want to risk anyone getting hurt.

"I'll make the fire!" Gavin exclaimed as she ran off in a random direction to look for fire wood.

"I'll help her and try not to set the forest on fire!" Preston said as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously and turned to follow Gavin.

"Hold on," I said to Preston as I ran to Sideulda to get something out of the saddlebag," I have something for you."

I reached in and pulled out a potion then turn toward Preston.

"Fire resistance? What the fudge is that gonna do?" He asks confused.

"I figured if it protects against fire it can keep you from setting things on fire." I answer back shrugging.

"Do you really think it'll work?" He asks hopefully, taking the potion in his hands.

"I have no clue... But, it's worth a shot."

He gives me an unsure look before he brings the potion to his lips and drinks. I watch as he looks at his hands waiting for any change. After a few moments of staring at his hands nothing happened. He sighs and drops his hands back to his sides. A look of disappointment shown on his face as he looked up at me.

"Thanks for trying to help but I don't think anything can help me." He said as he turned to head back in the direction Gavin had disappeared in.

A short, shrill squeal pierced the air as a mass of clothing and weapons fell from the trees above us.

"What the fudg–" Preston said as he was interrupted as he caught the mass in his arms.

I quickly walked to his side to see what or rather who he had caught to find a hood up blocking the persons face from view. I knew who it was though by the red and orange hair peaking out from beneath the hood. Gavin reached her hand up and pushed her hood away to reveal her face as red as her hair and an awkward smile on her face.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Mitch cries as he runs up to us.

"No... There was a large branch stuck in the limbs. I couldn't find much other firewood so I was trying to get it..." Gavin explains.

Mitch sighs as he rubs his temples before looking back up at Gavin still in Preston's arms, realizing the sight in front of him. Preston gets the hint and softly sets Gavin on the ground.

"How did you manage to fall when you are the most agile one out of all of us?" I asked, trying to break the awkward silence that had fallen.

"Everyone screws up every now and then. One wrong step was all it took..." She laughs awkwardly as she begins backing away." I'm just gonna go finish getting firewood."

"Take Preston with you," Mitch says pointing to the lavamob beside him." Atleast he can catch you if you fall again and won't set anything on fire."
