Chapter 8
Over the next couple weeks, the four of us grew closer. Not close, closer. Just as with Sevrin the year before, I had marveled at how close we had become in a mere two days. Thus, closER.
I had never really figured it out until middle school, but I never really had any close friends when I was young. And even middle school, I became friends with people I had previously known, or people introduced to me by Ariel. So suddenly having two new really-close-almost-BFFs within the first week of school was interesting.
One weekend, I was over at Ariel's house. Her parents were gone, and I was keeping her company. We had been in the middle of the Skrillex song on Just Dance 4 when Ariel turned to me and asked me if I was also craving brownies. So we paused the game and went to the kitchen. Ariel started gathering the ingredients.
"I called for pizza earlier, it should be here soonish. We have just enough time that when were done with pizza the brownies will be almost done!"
"Cool. I'm going to go grab your iPod, Kay?" I went upstairs to Ariel's room. I unplugged her iPod from its charger near her bad and went back downstairs. "What should we listen to?" She looked up at me.
"Do you even have to ask?"
I smiled. "Muse it is!" I plugged the device into the speaker and set it to play all of her Muse. Of course, the first song to play on shuffle was Supremacy.
"Turn it all the way up!" Ariel said excitedly while mixing ingredients.
"What about the neighbors?"
"Eh, they don't care. They're used to it by now."
"Ok, cool" I turned everything up as high as it would go. We could just barely hear ourselves singing.
"Supremacy" I absolutely loved doing that slide. We were both dancing around to the song and Ariel motioned that it was my turn to actually help making the brownies. The next song came on, and then I thought I heard something. I looked up and realized someone was at the door.
"It must be the pizza guy!" Ariel ran over to turn the music down and awsered the door. "Oh hey! I didn't know you guys had a job! Good for you, being pizza delivery guys! Oh, when did you get your license in America? And usually, isn't it just one guy?" She looked outside. Where's your car?" I came to look out the door, thoroughly confused. It was Dan and Phil.

"Um, no, we heard your music. We absolutely love Muse." I said. "So this is where you guys live?" Together? I wondered. Phil seemed surprised. I was too. Who knew they lived so close by?
"You heard our music? Where were you?!"
"Oh, we were wandering about in this little stretch of woods here and heard your music. We live just on the other Sid, the street right there."
"Really? You heard us from there?" Ariel turned to Alecia. "I didn't know we were that loud." Alecia smacked Ariel upside the head lightly.
"I told you!"
"Hmmm, yeah whatever." She turned back to Phil and I, still standing awkwardly on the front porch. "Why don't you guys come inside? We're baking brownies! "
My mouth watered. Mmmmm chocolate. But... "Are we intruding? We just kindof barged in here..."
Ariel smiled. "Not at all! It's fine!" She saw I was still hesitant. "Dan.... We have Malteasers."
"What are you waiting for, Phil? She said it was fine, lets go in!" Phil glared at me.
"I haven't said a word this entire time, Dan." Alecia giggled. As we came in, I heard her say
