RING RING RING

My alarm clock goes off and my sister Yvette rushes into my room.

"ANA!!! YOU LAZY ASS WIPE WAKE UP! TODAY'S AN IMPORTANT DAY!" She screams at me as if my alarm wasn't loud enough.

I stare at the clock on the left side of my bed. It reads "5:45 a.m."

I blink rapidly to make sure I'm reading the time right. I sigh deeply and let out a long groan. Today is the first day of my high school life.

---

After relunctantly going through the tiresome 45 minute routine of getting ready for my day. I sit down at the kitchen table where my mom was breastfeeding Kristine. So trying to avoid eye contact and to avoid the awkward glimpse at my mother's breast being ravaged on by Kristine, I take out my phone.

I had recieved 10 new messages, which over half of them had come from my best friend, Beth, or Bethany.

Beth: OMG ANA!!! Today is going to be mad tons of fun!!!
Beth: I'm so stoked omg!
Beth: UGH, wake up already!!!
Beth: WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?
Beth: HURRY AND WAKE UP! HELP ME DECIDE!
Beth: Oh. My. Gee. WHAT IF KYLE SEES ME.
Beth: PLEASE REPLY TO ME HURRY ANA I'M STRESSING!

I take a deep breathe and let out the longest sigh, That's my Beth alright. I text her back immediately.

Ana: Hmm, you should wear that starry top you have and then the plaited skirt that has the same color. But overall it's your choice.

After hitting send, I continue eating my breakfast, which consists of a biscuit, three pieces of bacon and a cup of yogurt to go. Inhaling the bacon, my sisters looks at me in disgust.

"Ugh, Ana, you do not want to look like a greasy pig on your ID card do you?" Yvette groans as she takes a small bite from her apple.

"Eh. Maybe I do, then I'll be remembered for sure." I grin, mocking her whole lecture about "being remembered" in high school.

She shrieks which causes Kristine to pop my mother's nipple out of her feeding mouth, and cry. My mom hurriedly sways her back and forth, patting and gently rubbing her head to soothe her.

"You girls need to hurry up, or else dad leaves and you guys have to walk." My mom continyes with her breastfeeding and Lristine falls asleep in her arms.

We both look at the clock on the microwave and it reads 6:50.

"She's right Vet, we should probably hurry into the car. Or else I miss orientation and I don't get my schedule." I exclaim as I pick my things up and head to the garage where my dad is already warming up the car.

I head into the passenger seat and plomp down. Yvette sits in the back seat and we drive off on the 5 minute drive to school. Usually, we would have been able to walk 15 minutes to the high school, but that's been closed out as an option. This building industry had built a Target in the middle of the road we used to take.

I watch outside my window and my dad hurdles questions at me.

"Are you excited, scared, nervous, happy? C'mon, what's up buttercup?" He pokes me as he keeps both eyes on the road.
