Chapter 1 - D.C.

I awoke slowly, savoring the last few moments of complete peace, before opening my eyes slowly and groaning.

"Get up." a voice said from my left.

"Collin, shut up." I mumbled, sitting up all the same.

He chuckled "It's 10:30. We need to move."

I groaned and crawled out of my tent, with Collin following close behind.

"Where are we now?" I asked Collin, who pulled out a gigantic map.

"In what was Canada." He says, and I nod wordlessly, packing our tent quickly.

"The others at the car already?" I asked Collin, who nodded with a slight chuckle.

"Of course. They've been there for a while."

I rolled my eyes and finished packing, shoving my day things into my pack, and slinging a rifle over my shoulder, and slipping a pistol into the waistband of my jeans.

"I'm ready."

I walked to our 2 vans, and I climbed in the second one. Immediately, Kay, Abby, Liam, and Dylan's eyes snapped onto me.

"Whoa, the zombie is up." Liam said sarcastically.

"Just go." I muttered, and Liam laughed, gunning the engine and speeding off on the dirt road.

"We're going to what was left of Washington D.C." Liam announced, and I raised an eyebrow in mild surprise.

D.C was one of the first cities hit - the Rebels destroyed it with regular bombs. They only really used nuclear weapons on Europe - we don't know why. The Rebels (or the Supreme, as their known now) have little to no presence in most of the US, but they have a sector in Washington D.C - that's for sure.

"It'll take a day or so. We're gonna have so much fun!" Liam says sarcastically and continues driving.

I sigh and lean back on my seat, closing my eyes.

When I woke up again, there wasn't much change in scenery.

"Glad you're awake, Nielsen. Supreme checkpoint ahead." Liam said urgently.

Scratch that.

Big change in scenery.

I tensed up, holding my rifle.

"I got this." I muttered, opening a door quietly and sneaking along behind the van.

I saw one of them move towards the van, holding his rifle up high, and I lunged around the corner, firing a shot into his chest. He stumbled backwards and fell.

I saw the man inside the little checkpoint building stand up, and I took a grenade and lobbed it towards the tower.

BOOM!

The tower fell to the ground with a loud crash, and I quickly hopped back in the car.

"Go." I said to Liam, who chuckled and drove the van through the checkpoint, the other van following quickly.

"Nice grenade." Abby muttered from her seat and I chuckled a bit.

"I woke you guys up, hm?" I said and Kay rolled her eyes.

"Nooo, an explosion was totally easy to sleep thr- we're here" She said suddenly, and I tensed up, remembering that D.C was an absolute hotspot for Supremes,

I looked out the back window of the van tensely, seeing the other van behind us.

"We're getting out here." Liam remarked. "Bring everything. We may not have the van's when we get back."

I nodded and packed up my belongs - which consisted of a rifle, a pistol, a collapsible tent, a medical kit, water, food, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The others had varied books. I'm pretty sure, throughout the group, we had the whole Harry Potter series.

(A/N I don't own Harry Potter)

The van screeched to a stop, and I hopped out the back.

"Shit! Supremes ahead!" Liam whisper-shouted to me.

I rolled my eyes and loaded a fresh magazine of bullets into my AR, and prepared to shoot.

"Everybody in the vans, show yourselves!" A voice over loudspeaker shouted at us, and I winced at the loud noise.

I swung around the car, shooting my gun, missing.

"Damn! I missed." I whispered to Liam.

"Get back in the van." Liam said to all of us, who nodded.

We climbed back in, and I got ready to kick open the doors so I could blast these Supremes' heads off.

"Now!" Liam shouted, and I kicked open the doors, shooting the Supremes that were running after us, and they dropped dead on the road amongst the ruins of Washington D.C.

"I think they notified their friends." I told Liam, shutting the door quickly.

"Damn." He muttered and drove to a broken down gas station.

"Welcome to your home for the next few days." Liam said cheekily.

~-~-~-~

I sighed as I did my search of the gas station, making sure no bombs were in here, no Supremes, etc.

The gas station was truly run down.

The windows smashed, the inside trashed, and the sign was flickering on and off.

I had a great feeling about this.

I sighed and walked back out to our vans and said "Nothing!"

"Good." Liam said, and he glanced over at our other van - which, inside, held Jayden, Collin, Andreas, Adira, and Haiti. Thomas was killed in Operation Oreo.

Yeah, the name doesn't sound as humorous now.

They all got out of their van - Jayden and Collin bickering ('God damnit, I've killed more of them than you have!" "Shut up Jayden."), Andreas polishing his weapon, Adira cleaning a knife, and Haiti, who was looking extremely downcast.

I sighed and began raiding the store - not clearing it - this time.

I walked in, and I kicked down the wooden board in front of a huge case of canned meat. Quickly, I carried it out to the van and stored some in the back.

After about 20 minutes of this, I noticed a few cars swerving around the corner. Probably not good.

"Hey guys, cars. Get the fuck in the front." I mutter into my walkie-talkie, and a dry chuckle came from the front.

"EVERYONE IN HERE, GET DOWN! UNDER ORDER OF THE SUPREME, WE'RE SEARCHING!" A man shouted, and I rolled my eyes, loading my gun.

"Okay, Jameson, go left..." at this, I popped around the van and shot all 3 of them, and the rest in the car began shouting and pointing at us.

"Hey Liam, they, uh, noticed us." I snorted a bit "As in I killed a few of them." I said into my headphone, and Liam responded quickly.

"Wow, nice. We got a few new weapons." He said, and the rest of my group appeared on top of the gas station, one holding a RPG.

"What the..." I muttered, ducking, as the RPG shot at the car and they both exploded, sending shrapnel flying everywhere.

"Nice RPG!" I shouted at Adira, who was looking at the launcher with nothing short of admiration.

"Thanks!" She said cheerfully back, and I rolled my eyes.

"Let's move! They know we're here - we've killed a few dozen of their men."

I sighed and looked out the back window. We were driving down to the center of D.C. Don't ask me why.

"Liam, their base is where the White House was. We're about 300 yards from their base." Collin muttered nervously over our radio.

"I know. We're going in." Liam muttered.
