Chapter 1
"Yo! Pearl!"
"Hey Aaron!"
Lynn D'Silva grinned widely at her best friend. "Hungry yet?" Aaron Hunt grinned down at the girl, who already had a twinkle in her eye. "Hungry?I'm ready to eat an entire elephant!" Lynn fake moaned, and held her laughter in when she noticed the disgusted, horrified looks on the on lookers' faces. Before you thought anything, both of them were nothing but best friends.Best friends, with no ......OTHER benefits. They enjoyed each other's company, and had grown steadily closer to each other when they clicked in a French class way back in middle school. Now, as respected ( hopefully ) juniors , both of them still had their friendship going strong despite their different cliché stereotypes and reputations.
Lynn was the average all rounder who was known by everybody. She usually stuck to her own friend circle , but she knew a lot of people around school. Being a volleyball player and the only girl drummer in the school did have it's perks though. Aaron however, was the notorious bad boy player of their school. As cliché as it was, it was true. It was as basic as it could get - Girls wanted him and guy wanted to be him. He was a league badminton player - which increased his appeal and of course, kept his body fit and fine. Despite the glaring differences, both of them were best friends .
Both of them started making their way towards the cafeteria , Aaron casually slung his arm around Lynn shoulder. Suddenly, Lynn became conscious of the arm around her shoulder. Butterflies erupted in her stomach and a red took over her cheeks. She fought to kill the blush and keep her voice level. Well, maybe it's clear that Lynn had a itty bityy, tiny little.. HUGE crush on her best friend. "Random question." He mused. Lynn grinned to herself. "Shoot." "How does it feel to be the best friend of a Greek God ?"
"Please tell me you didn't actually ask what I thought you did." Lynn groaned, facepalming. "A bit more and you'll be bouncing off the walls because of your big head." She rolled her eyes and Aaron chuckled. "You know you want this , babygirl." He said mock huskily, gesturing to himself with the free arm that wasn't wrapped around the girls shoulders."You're mistaken, muffin." She said , smirking, and Aaron's grin dropped drastically. "MUFFIN?!" He shrieked, and Lynn fought the urge to fall to the floor laughing.
Instead, she settled with a loud laugh. "Yeah, muffin. You're face reminds me of a muffin for some reason."
"Says the strawberry flavoured cupcake." Lynn froze. "What the fudgecakes did you just say?!" She screamed, shrugging off his arm and turning to face him. However, the cocky smirk didn't budge. "Yeah, you look like an adorable pink cupcake when you blush.Like now.See?! That's what you get for murdering my man points.."Aaron held back his own laugh , but started backing away when Pearlyn's face surpassed a rosy pink to an angry red. Growling angrily, she took slow steps towards the progressively scared Aaron. "Don't you know i hate. strawberry cupcakes?" She snarled, and that was all it took for Aaron to turn tail and run away. "AARON DANIEL JACKSON STOP THERE RIGHT THIS INSTANT!" Pearlyn screamed, running after him.
"No can do, cupcake! I really don't want to die! a lot of girls left to bang!"
"UGH!! I did NOT have to know that!" "that's not need to know information , anyway!"
Soon, it had become a rat hunt . As usual, Aaron had run straight into the football field, begging for his friends to hide him. Minutes later, Pearlyn banged straight into the bleachers, demanding the find out where the rat was hidden."Aaron sweethearttt...... Come out come out where ever you areee!!"She cooed evilly, beginning on her prowl. No reply. "Oh! I forgot your favouritest place in the world!" She exclaimed, and ran straight to the side of the bleachers, where there were holes between the wooden sticks that held the bleachers up. Half hidden in the dark , crouched Aaron trying to be inconspicious. He looked up at Lynn , his dark eyes innocent and a cute smile on his lips.
"Hi cupcake." "You're playing with fire, arse." Lynn ground out, gritting her teeth. However, her peripheral mind was going on about how damn adorable he looked while trying to get off free. She caught him by his ear and pulled him up, ignoring his girly squeals of surprise. "Lynnn!!!!!I'm sorry!!! Let me go, I need my ear! I won't look as hot as i do with one ear !!"
Lynn had to control her laugh. "All the more reason to rip it off your head." She grinned, and then continued to pull him towards the shade of their tree, laughing and jesting. It was nothing special, just a huge oak tree that the two of them had claimed for themselves since 9th grade , when their friendship had gotten stronger. She remembered those times back then , when they were nothing but lab partners.
Then came 9th grade, the beginning of High school , the highly dreaded freshman year. Unknowingly, Lynn had ended up with the wrong circle of friends - ones who would miss at no opportunity to bitch about everybody in the world and their uncle- including each other. Suddenly, one fine day, everything blew up in her face. Both the girls she had considered her best friends confronted her, accusing her of being the one who had done the bitching, spread rumors about her and starting sending her spiteful comments and rude remarks. As any normal unsuspecting freshman would do, she had broken down into tears , seemingly alone , in the girls washroom.
That's how Aaron had found her - broken, teary and extremely regretful of her past choices in friendship. He had calmed her down , wiped off her tears and given her a bit of good , solid common sense. He basically took her under his wing , going as far as to even introduce her to an entirely new set of friends - the band of crazy, idiotic morons she was now proud to call her own.
