Chapter 5
Lynn could feel the light sun rays falling on her face, indicating that it was already Saturday morning. She groaned, as her eyes adjusted to the bright light. She could feel a major head ache making it's way into her head as she pushed her body towards her bathroom.
Yesterday night was fun, she had the time of her life. She faintly remembered being snatched by a familiar looking boy as she was grinding against another guy she didn't even know. She remembers bit and pieces as she was dead drunk, but she doesn't remember coming home on her own or being brought by someone, although she can fsintly remember seeing Aaron with a shocked expression the last thing before going to sleep.
She quickly scurried inside the bathroom, avoiding the mirror, as she knew what horror she has to face. She quickly undresses and runs the water. The warm water instantly relaxes her nerves, as she feels all the filth and smell of booze making their way out of her system. She takes a blob of her favourite strawberry flavoured shampoo, which had earned her, her favourite nickname from her best friend. Note the sarcasm.
Once done, she quickly dressed herself in a pair of bright orange shorts and an oversized t-shirt that she had borrowed, or more precisely, stolen from Aaron. She then blow drys her hair and ties it up in a high pony tail, with sport shoes in hand she jumps down the stairs towards the kitchen where she can smell bacon and toasts, Aaron's favourite, she thinks to herself as she enters the kitchen.
Her mother, noticing her presence, turns around, facing her with a stern expression but her eyes show confusion. "You, young lady, have a lot of explaining to do", says Marie. She gives her mother a sheepish smile, indicating her to start with the questioning. "Why were you dead drunk when you came home last night, why was it past the curfew time when you came back and where the hell were you?" she bombarded Lynn with these, narrowing her brown eyes, Lynn's own eyes being the exact replica of it.
"Mother dear, do not worry, for thy daughter had not lost her innocence, she's still a virgin, I was at a party last night and I drunk a little too much, by the time I realised the time, it was too late and and so I rushed home" she lied, looking her mother in the eye. This was a quality she inherited from her father, lying by looking strainght in the eyes, without flinching away. "You, DO NOT lie to me, young lady", Lynn was surprised to hear her mother's voice raised. Marie continued, "Did you forget that it was Aaron who dropped you home, that too not justhome but he went upto you room to drop your lazy ass off on you bed, since you were not even concious when you guys came home. Lynn, you do remember my warning, Aaron is a good boy, but he'a player all the same and you...." It was time to tune her out as Lynn realised the coming up of a yet another one of Marie's 'do-not-date-Aaron' lectures.
But when her memory of last night stuck up in her hungover brain, she felt it like a tight slap across her face as she realised, she had just confessed her long time crush on Aaron to the 'stranger' who had dropped her home, the stranger being, none other than, Aaron himself.
"Lynn, honey, are you even listening to me? Are you okay? You're face seems to have suddenly lost all of it's color!" Marie says a little worried at Lynn's sudden change in her facial expression. Lynn nods faintly and rushes off towards the door, shouting a "I'll be back soon, mom. Love you."
She starts running aimlessly without a destination, with all her thoughts scattered all over her mind, What if he stops talking to me? What if he already likes someone else? What if...
She stops for a minute to catch her breath as she decides where she is heading to before running again, this time towards Kiara's house. Kiara lives quite a few lanes away from her house, but she wasn't woried about the distance, atleast not now. She had to talk to her only girl best friend who was also the only one other than her mother, who knew about her crush on Aaron.
On reaching Kiara's house, she skipped the front steps directly jumping and landing perfectly on her two feet, on the front porch, being an athlete had it's own perks.
She banged the door, not bothering to use the door bell. She heard a muffled shout from inside "whats with people and patience.." before a dark lady stood in frony of her with a surprised expression on her face. The lady has dark hair, her eyes and nose a replica of Kiara, being Kiara's mother, or better known as Mrs.Knightley or even better known as Sara.
She took in Lynn's appearance and asked a little worried, "Lynn, what a pleasant surprise, is everything okay? You look like you just saw a ghost and ran a 100 miles" to which Lynn rplied, "Running 100 miles is probably true but seeing a ghost, I doubt that, Mrs.Knightley...Is Kiara home? Please, tell me she is..." she asked with so much home that Mrs.Knightley's heart melted away, she held the door open, saying, "Come on in, young lady, the lord seems to have listened to your please, she's in her room upstairs, go on, I'll send in some cookies and juice for you both through Martha". Martha was the live-in maid in Kiara's home, helping her mother, since her mother was a doctor. But Martha had literally seen Kiara and Lynn grow up together, she was like a second mother to both the girls rather than a maid.
Lynn, saying thankyou, ran upstairs like her life depended on it and barged through Kiara's door, almost making the door fly off it's hinges. "KIARA!! WHAT DO I DO NOW, I DIDN'T MEAN TO BABBLE IT TO HIM BUT I JUST DID AND NOW HE'S GONNA IGNORE ME FOR THE REST OF MY PATHETIC LIFE", it was then that she realised that Kiara was on the phone with someone and whoever was on the other side has definitely heard Lynn's frantic shoutings. Kiara mumbled a quick "She's here, I'll call you back later" and hung up, throwing the phone to her bed.
"Heyy best friend, what's up you ass this morning, why did u barge in like that? Don't you have some decency, I could have been making out with Dhruv(Kiara's boyfriend, everyone), ya know. And what the hell did you say, calm your nerves, woman and say it one word at a time, again" she said.
That instantly made Lynn smile, Kiara was the only one, other than Aaron (err.....not exactly, for this one, though) who could make her sour mood lighten at an instant.
Kiara patted on the bed, a place beside her, indicating for Lynn to sit. Lynn did as she was told and started talking like a good girl, controlling herself from breaking down. Once done, she looked up towards Kiara. Kiara had an amused expression on her face.
"What's wrong if he knows? I mean, for all you know, he could be having the same feelings for you too. And besides, he's you bestfriend, he won't just stop talking to you for such a silly reason, he's not as dumb as he looks, ya know, although I still think he's a jerk" she said, making Lynn smile a little. Aaron was just as close to Kiara as he was to Lynn.
Just then, Martha came in with the cookies and 2 glasses of juice, just as promised by Mrs.Knightley. She gave me a sweet smile, which I happily returned, patted my head in a motherly manner and went out without uttering a single word.
"But Kira, you know how my mom thinks he's gonna end up breaking my heart. And the way I see it, I've started thinking, he'd actually do that. That guy literally runs away even by hearing words like 'love' and 'commitment', oh, and not to forget, he thought I didn't notice, but at the party last night, I did see him making out with some blonde bimbo, he left my side for that purpose, I mean that WAS the reason why I actually wanted to get drunk, for once" Lynn said munching on a delicious cookie, all in one breath, using her nick name that only Aaron and Lynn use.
"But babe, maybe he was drunk too, maybe not as much as you were but yeah, he did have alchohol in his system." Kiara took his side this time, sipping on her juice, which was surprising, seeing as these two never left any card unturned and fought for literally everything they said to each other.
Lynn thought for sometime, and was brought back to the present by Kiara's irritated voice, "Woman, you have been literally staring at nothing for the past 15 mins, I even counted the seconds" she paused, then continued, her voice soft this time "So what have you thought? What are you gonna do now, cupcake? Is'nt that's what he calls you" she says, barely holding back her laughter. I shoot her a glare, and then announce to no one in particular, "I'm gonna behave like nothing happened, like everything is just like it was before the party".
Kiara just gave Lynn a 'r-u-serious' look and said "Fine, but remember, you've got to confess to him sometime later if not now, you can't just harbour your feelings for him forever, even for getting over him, you've got to tell him. And atleast he deserves an honest confession from you".
"Fine, I'll tell him when I'm confident enough to, but now, can we just have some girls time, I mean, I feel like we haven't done that for ages now." Lynn say with a sigh.
Kiara gives me a huge smile, exclaiming "Yay!!!! Finally, my best friend's back to being herself again!!!!"
"Okay, then let's have a girls day in and out, I forgot my hpone at home, I'll call her from your room's cordless and tell her that I'm staying at Kiara's place, I hope you don't mind?" Lynn said, as she got up to grab the phone.
She quickly snatched away the phone from her bedside table before Lynn could get her hands on it. And she said, "You, crazy woman, are gonna take a warm shower and come out all clean and free of the worries, while I call up your mothrt deary, and tell her that her babygirl is getting kidnapped by a hot chick named Kiara"
I laughed at that comment of hers, mumbling to myself " And she calls me crazy...", heading towards her room's bathroom. She answers back "I heard that, bitch" before Lynn closes the door to the bathroom.
