Chapter 3
"PEARL! I'M HERRE!!!!!!!"
"Ohmygod MOM! Get him out of here!"
"I'm so sorry Lynn baby! He just jumped into the room with no warning at all!"
"Are you that busy that you can't even meet me, Pearlllllllls???"
"Don't you dare pull that face with me, Jackson." Lynn groaned and hid her face. Aaron grinned triumphantly. He knew he had won. "Come on D'Silva. You know you're glad to see me here."If only you knew how much. "Shut up, Muffin. I'm better off without your snarky ass atleast at home." She shot back despite what her insides screamed and began laughing when she noticed the player's scandalized expression. "What ? Don't you have any girls left to play?" She continued relentlessly, and Aaron faked a heart attack, clutching his chest and falling backward on her bed and moaning. "Oh, my heart. You struck it where it hurts."
"I thought you had a di*k for a heart, Mr. Player!"
"Wow, Miss Volleyball Captain is in a black mood! What's the fun sucker, babygirl? Come on, spit it out." Lynn sat on her chair, looking forlorn, and ignoring the fluttery feeling she gets everytime he calls her 'babygirl'. "I don't want to come to the party! I have nothing to wear!" Aaron was silent for a second, before gawping. "Are you serious? You have a wardrobe double the size of mine chock full of clothes. And you say you have none!?""You're a guy, AJ. You won't get it." Lynn sighed, using the nickname that the guys in the school used to address their 'head player'. "Nothing looks good enough for a party!" "That's it." Lynn watched as Aaron stood up and walked up to Lynn, kneeling down next to her. "I'm choosing what you're going to wear. And you WILL wear it."
"Better not be too revealing then." Lynn mumbled before closing her eyes again. She felt Aaron get up and walk towards her wardrobe, but she couldn't hear the doors opening.
"Nice undies there, Pearl." He grinned, and Lynn's blood went cold. Her face turned the colour of a tomato before rushing towards him and snatching the offending cloth from his hand. "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!" she screeched, trying to calm her embarrassment down. Aaron looked like he wanted to laugh, but one look at the girl's face made him choke it down. "Uh, it was on the door of the wardrobe." Lynn's face turned more red.
"Oh. Let me go bury myself alive and die of embarrassment." She mumbled, walking off. "I'll visit your grave, Pearl!" "SHUT UP AARON!" "Will do!"
"What am i going to do to you, Jackson..." She trailed off, a grin lighting up her eyes as she remembered a small flash of a memory.
"Pearl!"
"Huh? Where did that come from?" Lynn looked confusedly at Aaron who had a proud grin on his 9th grader face. "You've been pressured by Hanna and Katie for the last few months, facing bad stuff. But now, after it, you've come out successful and as pure and clean as a pearl. So I'm going to call you Pearl from now on! If it's okay with you, t-that is.." That was the first time Aaron had stuttered in front of her, but the explanation for the nickname had Lynn almost succumbing to her tears.
"Sure, AJ." She had grinned, managing to keep her tears down.
"That's only my nickname for you. I'm very territorial about my nicknames you see!" Aaron had grinned back, playfully ruffling Lynn's hair. "NOT THE HAIR, YOU BUTTHOLE!""YO! LYNNLYNN!! Come back here, if you aren't dead yet! I got the perfect dress for you!" "Coming, I'm coming!" She called back, making her way into her room. Aaron stood in the middle, holding a black asymmetrical sleeveless dress out to her. "You might as well get ready now. I can't be seen without my dearest plus one, can I?" Lynn smiled mockingly and took the dress from Aaron. "So that's why you want me around, I'm a good sight at your arm, am I ? We'll see how good a sight that makes when I break it."
"Calm down there, tiger! I need my arm for the league matches!"
"Fine, now get out, I have to get ready it seems."
"Can i stay?" "AARON!" "I'm going, I'm going!"Aaron and Lynn entered the party (which was already in full swing ) and spent the first half an hour socializing. Then, Aaron excused himself to go talk to somebody, and Lynn was left all alone. She wandered into the kitchen by herself, and she saw a bottle of beer and a bit of tequila left unattended. She made her way to it, and without a second thought, upended the beer bottle down her throat.
The effect was instantaneous- She felt lightheaded to the point of dizziness, but her mind was clearer than ever before. The bitter taste clung to her throat, so she downed what was left of the tequila and walked out of the kitchen, surprisingly stable.
She sat on one of the couches, and a few minutes later, a hand slipped around her waist, pulling her up and into the dance floor. She let herself go, moving her body to the beat, not bothering who it was that had their arms around her waist, making sure nobody bumped into her.Aaron, who was busy making out with a blonde bimbo, stalked right into the dance floor, pushing past the warm bodies and trying to search for a head with red-brown highlights or a flash of black fabric. Lynn had suddenly gone missing from where she had been a few seconds ago, and Aaron had made it his mission to track the girl down. Soon enough, he spotted Lynn dancing by the edge of the dance floor with a guy, who had his hands all over her. Just seeing her with somebody else made his blood boil, and the least he wanted to do was snap that guy's arms that were oh-so comfortably on HIS girl's waist.
Did you just call Lynn YOUR girl? Asked his conscience mockingly, which he ignored.
He rearranged his expression into one of cold anger and walked up to the guy and tapping his shoulder. "She's here with me, I think. Not you. Get your filthy hands off her before I make you."
The guy quailed under Aaron's angry dark gaze and scurried away, leaving a very confused looking Lynn. "You meanie!" She whined, pouting angrily. "I had just started having fun, but you had to come and intervene..." Lynn slurred.
Oh no. A whining and pouting Lynn only meant one thing - She was blackout drunk. Oh fudgenuggets, This is going to be real fun...____________________________________________________________________________________
