Chapter 13 || The Big Question

  Dan was sat staring at the wall in front of him, he knew that he wanted to ask Phil to be his boyfriend but for that he would need to speak.. Sure he had spoken a few words to the boy, he has kissed him.. But he wanted this question as cheesy as it sounded in Dan's head to be perfect.

Dan smiled at the cheesy thoughts in his head as he looked at the mirror next to him, the boy he saw looked like another human, his hair was messy, he had bags under his eyes and if you looked very close you could see small red marks on his wrist where his shirt had ridden up. Dan was not proud of this marks on his wrist, he felt guilty at the marks even.

During the time he was so down about the kidnapping his taught at many times about just ending it all. There were more marks on his right leg as that is something Dan would be able to cover up much easier. Dan walked over to the mirror to take a closer look of himself 'would Phil like someone like me? Was he going to say yes? What if says no? What if he is already dating someone?'

These question floated around his head as he tried to fix his appearance, his sat for he lost count of how many minutes trying to fix the beast he called his fringe. Dan's mum looked at her son as he walked out doing what looked like mouthing along to his song but.. He didn't have his headphone is.

Dan took a deep breath before surprising him mum with a raspy

"Morning Mother" Dan's mum gasped at that was the first time her son had talked to her in 12 years. Dan's mum shot up from the sofa pulling her son into a crushing hug. Tears were rushing down her face has she hugged her son in a bone crushing hug.. She had her son back. Dan was struggling to get out of her grip, sure hugs were great and everything but Dan's spin was starting to feel like it was about to break. Dan's mother finally released him, wiping her tears away.

"D-Dan.. I-I" Dan's mother could hardly speak as the feelings of her son speaking again were too much for her. Dan smiled softly at his mother before grabbing an apple walking out the door and towards the bus. For some reason for Dan it felt like it was his first day all over again, there were butterflies in his stomach and a lump in his throat. A smiling Jess meet him at the bus stop. Dan yet again prepared himself to say something but Jess beat him to it

"I'VE GOT A GIRLFRIEND" Jess squealed out, looking at Dan with pure happiness in her eyes, Dan smiled softly at the girl in front of him. Dan opened his mouth and Jess mouth fell open

"Well I am very happy for you Jess" Dan said smiling at Jess facial expression. Jess smiles at the boy.

"Your voice does not suit you" Jess said cheekily looking at Dan. Dan smiled brightly before giggling. And Jess was right, if someone were to play Dan's voice for someone who did not know them they would think that he was a buff 39 year old from up northern, as his voice was deep and posh and if you look at Dan he is far from these. He is a twig his hair messy sure he was from the north but he did not act nor did he seem posh. The bus arrived and the two friends sat down next to each other in a comfortable silence.

As they arrived at the school Dan was starting to grow nervous, What if Phil said no? What if Phil was already dating someone? What if-- is thoughts were interrupted by Jess poking him. The two of them walked out the bus and Jess ran over to some girl that was standing by the bicycle stand, kissing her cheek. The two girls started to walk towards the school leaving Dan alone, Dan normally waited for Phil at this point but he figured he would meet Phil as his locker and maybe so a repeat of last week. Dan smiled to himself as he walked over to Phil's locker leaning against it, closing his eyes taking a shaky breath 'Why am I so nervous about this? I've talked to Dan before' Dan thought to himself not really finding the answer question.. Sure this was a big question but Dan would do that right?

His train of thoughts were interrupted by Phil wrapping his arms around him in a hug, Dan squeezed him maybe a bit too tight as Phil let out a squeak. Dan let go of the boy peeking his cheek smiling softly at him. Phil smiled as well. That was not anything unusual the two boys were normally liked to do small acts of affection around each other but this time it was different for Dan.

Phil however had other plans as he pinned Dan to the locker a smirk placed on his face as Dan gasped looking at Phil with wide eyes. Phil just giggled before connecting their lips in a sweet kiss, a small smile spread across Dan face as he kissed back. The two pulled away smiling at what just happened, Phil let Dan go as he opened his locker and put in the the silver coat that he liked to refer to as the 'space coat' as it shimmered like space. Dan took a deep breath and spoke out

"Hi Philly" Dan said with a cheeky smile as Phil's face drooped in surprise, a wide smile appearing on Phil's face seconds later as this time Dan did not whisper Dan had spoken full out. Phil hugged the boy tightly not the level his Dan's mother had this morning but tight enough that Dan did get a little difficulty breathing properly, but nothing too bad. Dan smiled widely as Phil let him go a small tear rolling down his face as he looked at the boy holding him. Dan had never seen Phil so happy, his eyes were wrinkled and his teeth were showing.

"D-Dan I-I" Phil stuttered out still looking flushed from the kiss, Dan smiled softly grabbing Phil's hand walking over to art class, they got a few weird looks but nothing Dan and Phil was not used to.

The final bell rang waking Dan up from his daydream, this day had been very stressful for Dan as he spent the whole day trying to find a chance to ask Phil the question but sadly the time never came, as Dan walked over to the bus a hand was placed on his shoulder making him squeal and turn around to face the human who placed his hand on Dan's shoulder much to his relief it was Phil standing there with a wide smile.

"Hi Danny" Phil smiled kissing Dan's cheek, Dan took a deep breath before asking Phil THE question

"Philip Michael Lester will you be my boyfriend?" Dan asked small beads of sweat forming at his hairline, for some people it might sound silly that Dan was sweating from asking such a silly question but Dan had never had someone love him like that and it was kinda nerve racking for him as the silence just kept going. Dan looked at the ground as Phil looked at him with wide eyes. Phil opened his mouth to speak but closed it again not sure if this was real life, Dan looked horrified as he looked down at their shoes. Phil grabbed his chin forcing Dan to look at him.

"I would love to Dan" Phil smiled brightly kissing Dan softly.
