Brennan's POV Three years later:

"Where the hell have you been?" Logan asks as soon as I walk through the door and set my bag down. "I was at work making money for our family." I tell him and I slide off my lab coat, and fold it over my arm. "I've noticed that lately you have been going in early and staying late. You never see Lennon. Why is that?" he questions, I look at the ground. "I took a new job, I'm in charge of the N.E.I.C.U. I forgot to tell you and I'm sorry that I haven't seen Lennon in a while." I mutter trying to get around him but he steps back into my way. "You know what today was?" he asks me and I shake my head. "Oh my god you are so oblivious to your own daughter's life! Today was her third birthday and you missed it, she notices by the way, she knows when you aren't here. Today she said "Mommy's never here, does she hate me?". It broke my fucking heart to hear her say something like that, and then to lie to her and say that you would be there soon. To see her be disappointed every time a car went by and it wasn't yours!" He tells me his voice raising to a shout. "What am I supposed to do? Quit my job? Is that what you want?" I scream at him and he nods stiffly.

"Well I can't, if I quit my job we will lose everything! The house, the cars! Everything!" I yell at him and he just stares at me. "If you wont quit your job then leave." He mutters and my jaw drops. "What?" I ask him and he looks at me. "Leave! I'm done with you hurting our daughter! I want you out of this house now!" he yells and then goes up stairs, I hear the bedroom door slam shut. I run out of the house and out to my car. I drive to Ainsley's house that she got a few months before Henry was born.

I don't knock, she is probably asleep so I just open the door using the hida key. I close the door softly and then go to the couch, I grab a throw blanket and curl up. Tears streaming down my face, Logan kicked me out of his and Lennon's life. Had I really hurt her that bad? Had I hurt the love of my life and  my baby girl so bad that they would kick me out? I think as I fall asleep, Ainsley's couch is surprisingly comfy.

"Brennan? Brennan? BRENNAN!" Ainsley yells shaking me awake, I sit up and glare at her. "What do you want?" I ask her and she crosses her arms. "I want to know why you are on my couch." Ains asks and I sigh, I lean forward and put my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands. "Logan kicked me out." I say and I feel tears run down my face. "Why?" Ainsley asks, I feel her sit down next to me and places a hand on my back. "I missed our daughter's birthday, Lennon thinks I hate her! I took a new job and so I am barely ever home, Lennon notices this and blames herself. So Logan kicked me out because I am a crap mother and I'm a crap wife." I tell her, I have been so caught up in my work that I forgot about birthdays and anniversaries. "You are a crap mother, but I can tell you that you're not a crap doctor. But that's all you are, a doctor. Ever since you became a resident, that's all you have ever been 'Dr. Brennan Christansen'. You need to just be Brenny for a while." she says and I look up at her. "So that's two people to tell me that I need to quit my job. I just need a job that I can fall back on, if I quit my job at the hospital I can't get my old job back." I tell her and her lips pull into a grin. "Didn't you get your teaching degree on the side?", she asks and I nod, "I happen to know that there is an opening for a health teacher at the school Logan teaches at. I can call the principal today and get you an interview, you would start in September." Ainsley says and I smile.

"Get me that interview so that I can get my family back." I tell her and I pull her into a hug. "I will go make that call if you go get Henry up." Ainsley tells me and she gets up and walks into the kitchen.
