The police crowded around Dr. August's building, taking Jayla and Flora's husband to the hospital. The officers interviewed him and asked him about the story that he told on the phone, which was that the man came in with the gun. They believed him, but they wanted to get Jayla's side of the story. Two officers along with Dr. August drove to the hospital and waited to hear her condition. Only 20 minutes later, he along with the officers found out that the shooter survived. The officers jumped into high gear and started interviewing him. While they did so, Dr. August waited and waited and waited to hear Jayla's condition. After sitting in the doctors room for 2 hours and falling asleep, a doctor called out Jayla's name, waking up immediately.

"Jayla Evans?" The doctor called out.

"That's me!" Dr. August sniffed, jumping out of his seat and storming up to the doctor.

"This was one of the most miraculous recoveries we've seen in the last 20 years. She's completely conscious after taking a bullet to her lower right chest." The doctor smiled. "We've surgically removed the bullet already within the last hour. Would you like to see her?"

"Yes please." Dr. August nodded.

When Dr. August walked inside of the room, he seen Jayla sitting up, yet laying on her pillow while looking up at the TV. She was so recovered and energetic that it looked like nothing had happened. Under her tank top, she wore a large white patch to cover up the wound under her breasts. She sipped a chocolate milkshake, looking up and watching her show. Jayla's hair was completely flat and wet from her getting and falling repeatedly inside of the pool. Before Dr. August could say anything, the officers followed behind her and held two small notebooks along with some click open pens.

"Hello, Jayla." The officers smiled as Jayla muted the TV.

"Hi." Jayla sighed, slugging her shoulders.

"Well, you know what we're in here for, right?" The second officer asked.

"Yeah." Jayla slurred, placing her shoulder length hair over he shoulder.

"Well, tell me what happened?" The first officer asked, clicking his pen open.

"Long story short, I see a man who was trying to shoot my friend. Why he was holding a gun to him, I don't know. I just know that I wasn't going to let Chres get shot." Jayla sighed. "Anyway I uh....I tackled him onto the ground and we began to fight. We brawled and both fell in the pool, still fighting inside of there. When he got out and aimed towards the gun, he pointed it up and shot me. It was so quick and my adrenaline was rushing so fast that I still was fighting. After drowning him in the water, I don't remember anything else after that. I just blacked out....."

Dr. August and Jayla watched both officers write down every word that she me mentioned. After a few minutes, the officers closed their notebooks and looked at the both of them.

"We're going to charge him with attempted murder the minute he gets out." The first officer nodded as they made their way out. "We're going to check in with his condition, gather the gun along with some more evidence, then charge him with the crime. Okay?"

"Okay." Jayla smiled, quickly nodding her head. "Thank you!"

As the officers left, Jayla took a deep breath and looked at Dr. August. She placed a small smile on her face, watching his face light up as well.

"I just wanted to say thank you." Dr. August said in a serious tone. "Thank you so much, Jayla."

"No need to thank me. I was just looking out." Jayla said in a serious one. "I was just being a friend."

"No, there is a need to thank you." Dr. August nodded. "Had you not came inside of there, I would've been dead. It would've been horrible. I didn't tell your friends either because I knew that they would freak out."

"Yeah....then he would've been dead." Jayla giggled.

Dr. August kept his smile on his face, scrunching his eyebrows at her.

"Jayla, do you like me?" Dr. August asked. "Like, like me like me?"

"No, goofball." Jayla lied. "Why?"

"Well, a person doesn't just take a bullet for someone they don't like." Dr. August smiled.

"Chres, get off your high horse. We've been friends for almost 3 years." Jayla smiled back. "I'll take more than a bullet for you."

Dr. August believed her. He kept his eyes in her, giving her a serious look.

"I love you, Jayla." Dr. August said. "You're a true friend. My best friend."

Hearing those words come out of Dr. August's mouth sent chills all down her body. It was the first time he'd ever said that to her. She smiled back at him in a nervous state, glowing at him.

"I love you too, Chres." Jayla smiled. "Best friends forever?"

"Best friends forever." Dr. August smiled. "And what should I give you in return for this deed, Jay?"

"You already know what I want." Jayla grinned in a devilish form. "When I get better, I want some nasty dirty sex."

"That's just like you, Jayla." Dr. August laughed. "To get shot and still be thinking about some damn sex."

"Well I want some dirty sex, so are you gonna give it to me?" Jayla asked.

"Dirty sex, or dirty dirty sex?" Dr. August growled through his teeth.

"Dirty, DIRTY sex." Jayla growled back at him. "I want that whole fucking seat wet with our sweat."

"Okay." Dr. August smiled. "You want me to make that pussy squirt again?"

"You know it." Jayla laughed.

Both her and Dr. August started cracking up from their conversation. After everything that happened, they were still worried about something that shouldn't have been concerning them.

"I can't with you." Dr. August laughed, wiping the tears off of his eyes. "You're such a goofball."

"Hopefully I heal up soon." Jayla laughed. "I'm ready to get this show on the road."

Jayla was asked by the doctors to stay for a few more days so that they could get the bullet fragments out of her lower chest cavity. Meanwhile, Dr. August was forced to return back to his job to clean up inside. 20 minutes later after arriving, he grabbed a whole bunch of Clorox wipes along with a mop and started cleaning up the room. He had to sweep some of the sut off the floor from the bullet striking the top of the ceiling as well. After spending a good 15 minutes of cleaning, Dr. August heard a noise back in his office. He grabbed a knife off of the counter and held it up, only to notice that it was the little girl who showed up to his office the previous 2 times. He took a deep breath and sighed in relief, placing the knife back down.

"Listen little girl, I'm really not in the mood today." Dr. August snarled as he continued sweeping. "Go home."

"I need to talk to you." Christina said as she walked closer to him with a picture of Numra. "Do you know her?"

Dr. August took the picture and seen the one woman who never failed to capture his attention. Numra. He stared at it for a while, then looked back at the little girl.

"Y-yeah?" Dr. August answered in a nervous tone.

"That's......my mommy." Christina said, bowing her head. "They wanted me to find you because she had me in school. When she was 15 and stuff...."

Then it all registered and clicked in Dr. August's head. His eyes widened in shock, looking and staring at the little girl. He glanced at her wool like shoulder length hair and her skin tone as well. It was a perfect mixture of him and Numra's. His whole entire body went numb and stiff as he realized what he was staring at.

His daughter.

"You're my...........daughter?" Dr. August asked, getting choked up.
