After the party, Dr. August drove home without saying a word to Jayla. They'd went from close friends, to friends, to associates. Dr. August just had to continue pushing and brushing her off as much as he could. When he drove home, he seen dinner already made on the stove. All of the lights were off, which was an indication that both Christina and Numra was asleep. Numra was knocked out on the couch, telling him that she was still mad at him. Christina was asleep because she had school the next day. Dr. August warmed up his cooked chicken breast with some salad, went in his room and ate for 10 minutes, then clocked out himself.
The next day, Numra didn't have to go to school so early because the teacher said that he'd be a little late. When she woke up, she heard Christina in the bathroom brushing her teeth. Numra walked by the door and stood there, glancing at her.
"Hey..." Numra said in a sleepy tone, staring at her.
"Hi." Christina said as she spit out her toothpaste and mouth full of water, not looking at her mother.
"Um.........." Numra paused as she wiped her eyes. "I could take you to school if you want. Since i'm already up-"
"No thanks." Christina said as she wiped around her mouth. "I'd rather dad take me."
Even though it wasn't that much of a big deal, Numra was hurt. She stood there awkwardly in the doorway and scrunched her lips together, looking down at the ground.
"Okay." Numra sighed as she walked back to the couch.
"Come on, Chrissy!" Dr. August smiled as him and Christina paced towards the door. "This is the last day before the weekend."
"Woo woo!" Christina smiled as she cheered in a "choo choo train" type way.
Numra watched Christina and Dr. August shut the door, get into the car and drove off. Christina didn't even bring the lunch that her mother made her. Numra looked at the table and seen Christina's lunchbox, sitting in the same spot that wasn't moved. She got off of the couch, placed the lunchbox back into the fridge, then sighed as she went back to sleep.
Numra was feeling like she was being abandoned by her own child.
For the whole day, Christina and James talked in class whenever they had free time like they always did. During lunch, the two ate somewhere else so that the three girls wouldn't see her. She really had no interest in eating at the lunch table with the two. And once again, James shared his food with her like he always did. This time, he brought two lunchables, a big bag of lays, and some burrito's from taco bell that his mother brought up to the school. For once, everything seemed like it was going well.
After a long 8 hours of school and a long day of doing his job as a sex therapist, Dr. August picked Christina up by the front of the school. There was something that she needed to ask him that she hadn't forgotten about.
"Heeeeyyy Chrissy." Dr. August sighed as Christina got into the backseat.
"Heeeeeyyyy dadddyyyy." Christina smiled back as she plopped into the car and shut the door.
"How was your day?" Dr. August asked as he pulled off.
"Fine." Christina said in a dazed tone. "Dad, can I ask you something?"
"Sure." Dr. August replied as he drove onto the street. "What is it?"
"Um.........you know the boy James that I told you about?" Christina asked.
"Yeah?"
"He wanted to see if I could come over for a few hours." Christina asked. "He says that he never hangs out with people, so I thought i'd help. I don't think that mom would allow it thou-"
