"Numra...." Dr. August said. "I was just-"

"No you were just talking to your friend telling him that you still liked Jayla!" Numra barked as she slammed her purse down. "I'm risking getting killed just so that my daughter can spend time with you, Chresanto!"

"Numra, I love you. I like Jayla." Dr. August said in a serious tone, placing his hands up. "It's not that easy to get over someone after spending 7 years with them!"

"You know what. Fine. Fine." Numra scowled as she shook her head. "I'm just gonna go spend some time at the library for my Navy studies. Goodbye."

As Numra stormed out of the house and sped off, Christina watched blankly as her car disappeared into the local streets. She stared off, then looked back at Dr. August.

"Christina, listen-"

"I wanna go back to Iraq!" Christina snarled as she stormed off into her guest room. "Me and mom were better there."

As Christina slammed the door, Dr. August sat down on the couch and covered up his face. The guilt rushed through his mind the instant those words left her mouth. He decided to let Christina cool off before going inside. 20 minutes later, Dr. August stepped inside of the room and glanced at his daughter. She was crying. She laid crouched up against the wall on her bed, laying in a fetal position.

"Christina, why are you crying?" Dr. August asked as he sat next to her.

"I'm fine." Christina snarled, curling up even more as she continued to face away from him.

"Chrissy, if you were fine, you wouldn't be crying." Dr. August sighed as he placed her hand in her hair. "Now tell me what's wrong."

For a few seconds, Christina didn't say anything. After sniffing a few more times, she took a deep breath and decided to speak even though she was facing the opposite way.

"Why do you want to leave me and mom?" Christina whined. "We don't want to leave here...."

"Christina, do you think that I would leave you and your mother?" Dr. August said as he scrunched his eyebrows at her.

"Well, you said that you still liked Jayla." Christina mumbled in a high pitched tone.

"Christina look at me." Dr. August said in a serious tone.

Christina slowly turned around and glanced at him with her eyes and cheeks. He wiped both of her eyes with his thumbs then gave her a serious look.

"I would never leave you for anyone or anybody, do you understand me?" Dr. August said, getting choked up a little. "You're my daughter and as a father I put you first. I would never send you and your mother back to somewhere you guys don't want to be. I love you guys way more than that. Alright?"

"Yeah...." Christina sighed. "Sorry."

"It's alright." Dr. August said as he hugged her. "It's alright, Chrissy."

After a little heart to heart with Christina, Dr. August thought that everything would be alright. It wasn't. When Numra came back from the library after studying for a quiz in her navy schooling, she didn't speak to Dr. August. She didn't even cook dinner like she normally did. She purchased some food for the both of them, showered, then went to bed. This time, in the guest room with Christina. Dr. August peeked in the room as the two slept, sighed, then went back into his room to get some rest for himself. He was still working at his job as a sex therapist.

The next day, Dr. August dropped Christina off at school like he would normally do since Numra had to go to school in the morning as well. When Christina arrived, she expected to make a lot more friends then she thought that she would. But she didn't. In fact, she didn't make any friends. Once again, she sat out in the hallways and ate lunch while everyone else ate in the lunchroom. And once again, James walked back to her and met her there. As always, he had a large plastic bag full of food.
