"Ayakashi's" POV:

"I can't believe you got into another fight!" Keith exclaimed as he drove us home after a conference with the Principal.

"The Texi-Mexi and his dog started it! Now that I roughened up her boyfriend maybe she and he will stay away from me." I insisted, crossing my arms stubbornly.

"But doing that landed that kid in the hospital tramatized and you suspended for the rest of the month." Keith countered.

"I never liked school anyways. Or that boy."

"But now your're not getting educated and you're at home alone while I have to work more hours to pay the hospital bill." Keith snapped. "And since you're at home alone I won't be able to focus worrying about you!"

I hold onto my arm rest realizing that we accelerated right over the speed limit. "Keith....please, calm down..."

"Then my boss will notice my head isn't in the game and maybe send me home not getting my full check."

"S-slow down, Keith..." I say as we came to a stop light all too fast for my liking. My heart rate quickend. I braced myself. The car in front of kept progressing toward us until-- "STOP!!"

Keith slams his foot down on the brakes before he could create a domino of crashing cars at the red light. We lurched forward violently and then coming to a stop right on the bumper.

"Damnit...Aya, a-are you okay?" Keith panted, his voice shaky and his eyes perturb.

I nodded, grabbing the place on my chest where my heart would be. "Y-yeah..."

Keith sighs heavily and turned back to the road as the light turned green.

Keith really does care about me... I thought on the rest of the home. Even when I drive him crazy...I almost got us into a car accident by stressing him out. He offers to care for me and take me away from that jail house of an orphanage and what do I do? Get in trouble almost everyday. Making him work more and pay for my mistakes. I'm a bad sister...I felt guilty for it.

When we got home, Keith went as the crow flies and into his room. I go take a shower and change into some boxers and a white T-shirt getting out of those dirty clothes. After that, I just stay in my room and gave myself a small punishment for giving him a hard time, lounging around for the rest of the day.

Five hours later...

There was knocking on my door. I say, "come in," and quickly pull my freshly washed blanket over me hiding my scarred wrists. Keith didn't know about this and he never will. He was still pretty innocent for his age. Keith never got drunk, never been to the Club, never saw a naked girl, never had a make out session, never dated, never really cussed, never tried to start a family...I realize because he's always taking care for me...

Keith poked his head in my room. "Dinner's ready," he says.

I nodded in reply. When he leaves I go find a robe to slip on to hide myself and go to the kitchen.

We eat our Hamburger Helper in silence for a while. Well, Keith eats in silence and testing his luck trying to figure me out by glancing my way every few minutes while I pick at my food. The fact that I'm getting in the way of Keith's life was gnawing at me.

"Ayakashi, you've barely touched your food....is something bothering you?" Keith finally asked when he was almost done eating.

I kept my gaze low and shook my head.

He nodded reluctantly but understanding what I was saying. "Okay, just..." Keith restarted his sentence. "At least finish your food, alright? Can you do that for me?"

I nodded and stuffed a forkful of Helper into my mouth, chewing slowly.

Keith cracked a smile before getting up and washing off his bowl. He then comes over to me and sweeping my bangs to the side exposing more of my forehead snd plants a soft kiss on it. I closed my eyes, blushing slightly as his lips and my forehead made contact. I blink up at him as he pulls away with a small smirk playing on his lips.

"I'm sorry for freaking out back there and almost getting us in a car crash." He murmured getting serious. I nodded as another reply. "I gotta go to work again...so, don't answer the door or the phone, okay?"

"Kay, Keith." I finally say.

"Alright," Keith stands up straight and goes to get his keys and jacket from his room then heads to the door. "Oh, and Aya?" He asked before walking out.

I turn my attention away from my foods and to him. "Hm?"

"Don't ever be afraid to talk to me about anything, okay? I hate not knowing what's going on in that little mind of yours." Keith says sincerely.

"Okay, Keith." I replied thinking about it. I want to express myself around him more but...I don't know.

"Love you." He cooed.

"Yeah, you too..." I say watching him close the door. Just when it was just a crack I sighed and gave in to his small, simple words. "Hey, Keith!" I called.

He pops his head back inside rather quickly, as if he was expecting this to happen. "Yeah?"

"Um...a-am I..." I look away from him, embarassed about what I was going to say. "Am I a burden to you?"

He comes back inside and closes the door behind him. "Why would you think that?"

"Don't I drive you crazy? Do you ever have money for yourself? Or-or time for yourself? Do you get to experience young adulthood?" I just threw my questions at him.

"Ayakashi..." Keith murmurs sadly.

"I'm in the way of you living life. I stress you out...and I'm sorry..."

"Aya, come here, baby." Keith cooed. I got up and went to him still not looking him in the eyes. He then engulfed me into a hug. "Don't be sorry. I knew my life would change from the very start of caring for you, for the better." Keith pulled away slightly and lifted my chin for me to look him in his soft, kind, brown eyes for once. "I was happy for the change. Happy to change a life. Happy to have a sister I never knew I had. Yeah, you sometimes drive me crazy. Yeah, you rob my wallet of money sometimes. And yeah, I don't have time for myself but, I don't care. You're a kid and that's what kids do. So, don't feel bad, okay?"

I nodded.

"...I love you, Aya." Keith grip on me tightens as he nuzzled his face in my hair. "Don't you ever forget that."

I chuckle. "How can I forget when you tell me everyday?"

Keith had to laugh, too. "Alright I gotta go. Bye." He releases me and leaves for reals this time.

I finish eating my cold Hamburger Helper and plopped myself on the couch flipping through the channels on our old boxed TV. I do this for a few minutes then I give up and leave it on Disney. Nothing really interest me. It kept me occupied but not entertained. The shows were so cliché; I was able to guess what they would say next and I may have not even watched them before. It bored me, though. I was halfway sleep through it all...
