chapter 21: Bombs and rivals

"Oh really?" I said keeping a straight face.

"So your keeping a straight face now? Your usually scared when I try to kill you." Iwao said trying to act threatening.

"Sorry, but I have no intention of dying yet."

Iwao had an insane look on his face and started to laugh. "You really think you can escape me this time?! Your in a building filled with millions of guards and your allies are drawing lots of attention to them! Escape is impossible!"

"I wouldn't be so confident if I were you."

"The same goes to you."

Iwao takes out his knife. "Well that's enough talk, it's time to do my job."

Iwao runs towards me and I take out my pocket knife ready to attack.

But as soon as he's about to attack me, his attack gets blocked by Aru.

Wait, isn't he supposed to be with 8th!?

"What are you doing here!?"

"You were in danger, I couldn't just do nothing."

"You didn't have to this time, I was prepared this time."

"I'm not going to let you die. I guess you can say that I feel guilty as well."

What?!

"Damn you, your always getting in my way! Damn you, damn you, damn you!!! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, YOU BASTARD!!!" Iwao shouted, he was really pissed off.

"Sorry, but I don't plan on dying today. And I'm not going to let you kill Ryoko either."

Aru took a tazer out and shock Iwao, leaving him lying on the ground.

Wait he had a tazer?!?! Since when!?!

Aru grabbed my hand and started to run with me behind him.

"What are you doing? Why are you still helping me?!"

"I told you I was going to protect you didn't I?"

"But you don't have to anymore, I said I was going to be useful from now on, I can protect myself."

"I don't want to see you die, so I'll protect you even if you stab me in the back."

Somethings off, since when did Aru ever act this way?

"How can you trust me so easily?"

"Because you know how everything's going to happen, so you have a reason for doing this. And also because I l-"

He was cut off by a bomb exploding. That's odd, the only bomb 9th sets off was the one attached to her and I'm pretty sure we're no where near the Gasai bank.

As soon as the smoke cleared up I noticed that I was lying on the ground and Aru was on top of me (like one of those awkward positions in anime, where the love interest protects the person they like from an explosion.).

This is awkward...

"Are you alright?" Aru asked me.

"I'm fine, you didn't have to do that."

"I did say I was going to protect you."

Aru and I stood up.

"You don't have to protect me."

"But I want to."

I was going to respond to that but then my diary vibrated.

Crap that explosion changed the future, now I'll have to check my diary.
