chapter 18: Painful memories

"Ryoko!"

*gun shot*

"No...why?"

"Why did you do it?! SHE TRUSTED YOU! SHE TRUSTED YOU, SHE TRUSTED YOU, SHE TRUSTED YOU!!!"

I quickly opened my eyes and sat up, I was breathing heavily and my heart was pounding. It was that nightmare again, I haven't been able to sleep because of it. I woken up five times in one night because of that nightmare.

Ever since Yukii found out that his mom died, I kept seeing images of a woman lying on the ground losing blood. Who was that? And why did she come into my mind when we found out that Yukii's mom died?

And for some reason every time I see those images I feel like breaking down in tears. Why can't I remember anything?!

My phone rang, it's Yuno.

"Hello?"

"I'm glad your awake Ryoko. Anyway, I don't know what to do about Yukii, I'm trying to comfort him but he won't answer me."

"I guess he's still in shock. I probably would be too if I found out that someone I care about dies."

"..."

"What is it Yuno?"

"...It's nothing..."

"Okay..."

"I'm going to check on Yukii again."

"Okay, bye."

Yuno hung up, she acted a bit strange after what I said. I decided to shrug it off and go to sleep.

(The next day)

I have no idea what to do...Aru is at school (he made me stay home), and Yuno is busy answering questions for the police.

Which means that I'm all alone and I have nothing to do.

Maybe I should just look through my phone, it might jog my memory.

Let's see, anime sites, manga app, anime fan art, fanfiction sites, blurry pictures of Yukii and Yuno (together)?, a list of OTP's?! Which on the top of the list was Yukii x Yuno.

I didn't realize that I'm an overly obsessed fan girl...I don't even know why my best friend and the guy she likes is my OTP.

Then I checked my diary:

'Nothing interesting goes on, Yuno is still with Masumi and Yukii is with his dad.'

First of all, even though I lost my memory my diary still has everyone's names in it but I still don't know who most of them are. Second, I thought Yukii's dad killed his mom, why is he with him?

All well, I think I'll go outside for a while, since I don't know what to do.

I went outside and walked around town for a bit. Then I saw Yukii running while looking at his diary. It looked like he was chasing after someone. Then I noticed Yukii's dad getting into a taxi. I see, Yukii is chasing after his dad.

Should I or should I not follow him?

Suddenly I got a call from Yuno.

"Ryoko, do you know where Yukii is?"

"I just saw him run off, he was chasing after his dad."

"Could you follow him? I'll catch up as soon as I can."

"Okay."

"Thanks, I'll be there as soon as I can."

The call ended, I guess I'm following him.
