Human beings, we have dark sides; we have dark issues in our lives. To progress anywhere in life, you have to face your demons.

-John Noble

I walked inside my room and sat at the corner of my bed. I bit on my bottom lip and thought of last night again. I was a total klutz. Who almost trips backwards with a bathtub? I swear it couldn’t have gotten more embarrassing. I’m sure he thought of me as an utter moron.

I heard his words echoing in my head. “You should be asking how I entered the household. A circle was cast, was it not?”  Well, yeah there was a circle casted.

But it’s supposed to keep out evil, and he obviously wasn’t evil if he managed to intrude, right? He must be one of the good guys or whatever.

Things aren’t always what they seem.

Those six words echoed through my mind in a raspy whisper and sent straight chills down my spine.

You know, people always say hearing voices in your head is something you should get checked out and that it was never a good sign. I could say I was used to hearing them, but I still got scared shitless. The only reason I haven’t blabbed to anyone about them was because I didn’t want to end up in a loony house.

I had an extremely paranoid brother that needed me, and I’d probably go completely loony if I ended up in there. Besides, I swear sometimes the voices I hear are my parents’.

But they’re dead, Jade. Stop hoping. I thought to myself.

Letting out a frustrated sigh while tugging at my hair, I threw myself backwards on the bed and thought of Phoenix and his words once again.

I don’t know how I managed to get here, but I was suddenly laying on something very, very soft, like a bed made of cotton balls. Definitely not my hard, worn out bed.  The strong smell of cotton candy flooded through my nose, causing my mouth to tingle and water. I groaned and sat up, slowly opening my eyes as they adjusted to the light.

I was in…a field I suppose; except I wasn’t sure if fields were supposed to be pink.

I slowly stood up and gazed around. There was literally nothing, just the field of pink and the bright blue sky. I noticed my boots getting somewhat stuck into whatever the pink stuff was, and curiosity got the best of me. I reached down to yank out a chunk and smelled it.

Huh, so that’s where the cotton candy smell was coming from.

I snaked my tongue out to lick it, and sure enough, it was cotton candy. Huh.

A deep, throaty chuckle broke me out of my fascination and I whirled around.

His dark eyes sparkled. “Do you always dream this….toothsome?” I looked at him with a question mark face.

I blushed. “Not really…I usually just have nightmares that I can’t wake up from.” He frowned and walked towards me, until I had to tilt my head back to look him in his eyes, he was so dang tall.

He reached a hand out towards my face, cupping my cheek. “And what made no nightmares appear this time?” My heart sped up erratically and I couldn’t think straight.

“I-I don’t know. Luck I guess?” I breathed.

He rolled his eyes and laughed. “Of course you would have that thought.” I didn’t know what that was supposed to mean but I felt defensive. As much as I loved the feeling of him touching me, I slapped his hand away and took a step back. He looked at me with wide eyes at my boldness.

“Listen here,” I spat at him. “I don’t even know who you are or even what you are and I want answers. Why are you stalking me? What do you want?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
