"One may tolerate a world of demons for the sake of an angel."

Phoenix P.O.V.
I stood in line with the rest of the underlings, awaiting my father to arrive. I am supposed to be fully committed and devoted to my missions and training, but my mind seems to have a fascination with this woman. Not entirely genius to lose control of one's mind so easily.
Desmond nudged my ribcage with his elbow. "Man, why are you in the clouds lately? Metaphorically speaking of course, being a demon and all you aren't allowed anywhere near the clouds. Okay so, why are you in the ground lately? Haha!"
I slightly turned my head towards him with no sign of amusement and looked him in his eyes, showing no trace of companionship or humor. "I am discreetly but thoroughly plotting the design of your massacre and if you value your dear pathetic life, cease the insults and ridiculous accusations."
Desmond smirked. "I'm used to your threats, Pheen, you don't scare me." "Don't you dare call me that again," I growled. I turned away from the childish fool, clenching my jaw so tightly I heard my teeth grind against each other. As I started cooling down I heard heavy strides coming from behind us. "Hello father," I greeted. Although he is a dark and powerful demon, my old soul is programmed to be courteous. Must be from my mother's genes.
"I assume all of you have completed your training for the hour?" each and every one of the underlings flinched and cringed at the deep, malicious voice of Wentlock. I simply rolled my eyes at their cowardice. I casually turned around and met the rusty scarlet eyes of my father. Not a pleasant vision, but Jade's piercing red eyes on the other hand... very enchanting. It's as if they were made of liquid Ruby. I shook my head. "We have. I have made certain each and every one of the underlings, including myself, have completed training.
He flashed me an extremely rare sort of grin. "And that is why you, my son, are the best candidate to complete my unfinished life mission."
"Of course, Father."
"I believe it is time to reveal your destiny, young Phoenix. Let us take a walk to the chamber. The rest of you are dismissed." With a wave of his hand, he walked out the door. I glanced towards Desmond and gave me a thumbs up. "Oh, go to hell," I murmured. "Working on it!" he responded with a chuckle. I made my way after my father.
I walked down the dark, velvet corridor towards my father's quarters. Pushing the door aside, I caught a quick scent of rusted blood. I shrugged. After all, I am used to blood. I threw myself lazily on an ancient wooden chair and gazed at my father's desk. He just sat there, with his hands folded like a good kindergartner. I cleared my throat noisily. "So what is it that you need to tell me?"
His rusty eyes blinked twice and his thick black beard quivered as he began to speak.
"In the times of the ancient, us higher, darker beings ruled. Endless supply of power, endless free killings. Endless tainted blood as one can possibly imagine. Life's wondrous pleasures. My son, I was once an underling such as yourself. But not a normal, talentless one such as you are not. My biggest fault bestowing my trust upon a Jaegar. A family of traitorous, bloody, disgusting snakes..." he glanced down at his hands, a powerful anger flashing through his eyes.
"Did someone betray you, father?"
"Indeed. A betrayal among betrayals. I was born knowing I would become a child of Satan. A demon. The ruled of demons. Naturally, archangels are any demon's sworn enemies, and have always been. No exceptions. My lifelong friend betrayed me for the angels. For a life of light. How revolting. Our goals are to destroy the enemy. I sought my revenge upon him and his family. Unfortunately, I only killed one and the other two are merely entrapped, and two others are on the run. You, my son, have been trained all your life to complete my mission. My mission to dispose of the Jaegar blood line for eternity."
I raised my brows. "And who are these Jaegars? I will most certainly carry out the rest of your mission, father." He flashed me another rare, sinister smile.
"Oh you have no choice. And you know them. Even if you do not know that you know them, it's set in stone as your destiny. You'll carry out this duty naturally, as it is said in the prophecies. You, my son, are the Chosen One. The chosen of all chosen, the Chaotic of all chaotic. You are unstoppable." He paused briefly. "But beware, the Jaegar descendants are powerful beings themselves. Do not let a pair of liquid eyes and luscious lips destroy you. Do not be fooled by innocence's fake appearance."
"But, father – "
"Enough has been said. The prophecy will unravel. You are dismissed. Remember, the time is rapidly approaching. Make me proud, complete your mission."

I groaned in frustration.
How could this man possibly expect me to kill people he hasn't even given me information about? Just riddles and prophecies and secret messages. Oh, how I despise mystery.
I made my way towards nowhere in particular. Not in the mood to train nor anything for that matter. I let my stride guide me towards nothingness.
I heard her angelic voice and stopped in my tracks. "Now where is that stupid library again..." she mumbled to herself. Even blabbering, she was mesmerizing. She was dressed in a smooth emerald lace shirt that seemed to contrast with her beautiful caramel tone, and fitted capris that showed all her marvelous curves and her long, seductive legs... Oh boy. I should've known my feet would lead me to her if allowed.
I made sure to keep myself hidden, I didn't feel the need to pop up on her just yet.
She stumbled along the trail, which was surprisingly about three miles away from her home, looking for a library I suppose. Jade came to an abrupt stop and her body turned rigid. I turned to stone, fearing she had caught me. A scream made its way through her lips and she broke out into a sprint. I knew what was wrong, after all I have senses of a tiger. A demon was in our presence. I ran after her, not letting her out of my sight and at the same time scanning the dark trees.
The demon burst from the shadows, with its flaming scarlet eyes burning into the back of Jade's head. It was lunging for her throat.
"NO!" was my booming cry as I raced to save her. I'm only an underling, I am no match for a demon. Yet my legs pumped with fury and shot me faster through the wind.
