Ross' P.O.V.
"This is bad. This is bad. This is really really bad." I said and paced the room, practically pulling out my hair. They have pictures of us, AND I'm FAMOUS. They'll find us any minute and haul Cat away from me.
"Can't I just call the number and say I ran away, and wasn't kidnapped and you didn't murder anyone?" Cat inquired and I stopped pacing.
"Maybe. Yes. That's a good idea, that's a really good idea. Good idea Cat." I said gripping her arms gently. Sweat beaded upon my hairline and I brushed it away.
"Ross." She stated sweetly and pulled my arm towards her. "Calm. Down." She separated the words with a nod of her head. She pulled me up against her and down onto the bed with her. "Now kiss me." She said and I leaned in.
When my lips met hers, it was like the first time all over again. I gently licked her bottom lip immediately, asking for entrance to her sweet mouth. She gladly obliged and my tongue slid inter her mouth, tasting her. I gently sucked on her bottom lip as her mouth sent fireworks into mine. I rolled over so she was straddling me, and she never pulled away, never missed a beat.
She reached down to my chest and started unbuttoning the buttons on my plaid shirt. When she got down to the last one, she splayed her small hands across my chest, causing the shirt to open wider. I slid my hand to her lower back and started lifting up her shirt when we heard a knock at the door. "Federal Police. Open up."
"Ah!" Cat let out a yelp and clambered off of my clumsily. I hurried to put my shoes on and looked to Cat. "What do we do?" She asked rushed, sounding almost like a Southern Belle.
I pointed to the window in the back and ran over to it. I lifted it open and broke the small protection screen. "Go." I told her.
Once we both got outside we booked it around the building, to the corner where the Sequoia sat. We got in soundlessly and turned on the engine. I looked over and saw the cops pounding on the door angrily. Cat yelped again and ducked down so the wouldn't see her. I put my beanie and my aviators on and slowly pulled out of the lot.
"I didn't think they would be here that fast." Cat said as soon as we were safe enough for her to pop back up from hiding.
"Same. I thought we would be safe." I said as we pulled onto the highway.
"They interrupted our fun!" Cat complained and we both blushed deeply. I took the steering wheel with my knee and buttoned up my shirt. "You know." I began and glanced over to Cat, who nervously fidgeted in her seat.
"You talk like a Southern Belle when you're nervous."
"Who me?" She said quickly and it came out with that gorgeous Southern Belle accent. She isn't even from the South for goodness sake! I loved it though. I loved it.
"Yes ma'am. I reckon you do." I said in my best Texan accent.
"Yeah, don't do that." She said while smirking. I rolled my eyes and reached over to intertwine our hands.
"Where to?" She asked and I looked at the nearby road signs.
"We could make the few day trip to Texas or book in and try to make it to Kansas by this evening." I looked at the clock and it was only 7:30 am. We could get to Kansas at about 2:00 am tomorrow I think.
"Let's go to Kansas. I know a safe place there." She said and I happily complied.
•••••••••••••••••••••
We pulled into the driveway of a three story house at about 4:40 am. "Are you sure-"
"This is it, Ross." Cat assured me. A woman, presumably Cat's aunt that she had called earlier, came barreling out of the house towards the car. Cat got out and I cut the engine and followed. I walked over to Cat who was in a tight embrace with her aunt.
"And you must be Ross. I have heard such great things about you, and you're even more handsome in person." Her aunt turned to hug me and Cat blushed. "You two get your things and come on in."
Cat and I followed her into the large expanse of house and I stared, awestruck.
"You guys are up on the third floor in Cat's old room. If you need anything, come find me. There's plenty of food in the kitchen, help yourselves." She said and rushed us up the stairs.
When we got to our room, it wasn't anything I expected. There was a plush black carpet, and black walls with glitter everywhere. Not even glitter really, just black that sparkled. It took me a while to realize her walls looked exactly like outer space. It was shocking; the quality of paint. Wait a second, did that star just move?
"They're glass." Cat stated and walked over to a panel on the wall. She pressed a button and the scenery turned from space to a meadow, to the beach, to a forest, to the city, and then she pulled me over to her.
"Each of these buttons is a different setting." She showed me a panel do over 20 buttons. "It's basically just and LED screen, but its bigger. It cost a huge amount of money, but it is so worth it." She turned the setting back to space and I stood awestruck.
She took her shoes off and jumped onto her big fluffy black bed, getting under the plush comforter. "Join me?" She asked and I slid my shoes off, claiming in right after her. She giggled at me and pointed to the ceiling. There were more stars above I the black expanse. With the lights off and the room dark, it turkey felt like Cat and I were in space. It made me dizzy, quite frankly, but I loved it.
"How can she afford this?" I asked in awe, not even bothering to cover up for my rude question.
"Remember Elaine Dotson?" She asked.
"942 million dollar power-ball lottery winner?" I countered.
"Well, after taxes it was about 660 million, but yeah, she can afford it. Modestly on the outside, luxury on the inside."
"No kidding." I said and snuggled into Cat.
"Don't worry, she won't sell us out. I trust her." Cat said and stroked my face. Her cool fingertips felt nice against my hot skin.
"I trust her if you trust her, babe. Now sleep, I can tell you're tired." I said and nuzzled my face to hers. She giggled and found safety in my arms.
"Good morning Ross." She said just before she nodded off.
"Good morning Cat." I replied.
