Chapter 12

Winter's POV
I giggled as Charlie stuffed three different types foods in his mouth. Joshua is drinking tea, but is getting it everywhere. Kylie is watching us like a cat.

Why are we in a break room? Is this part of Lizzie's sick plan?

I grab a scone and start to dig in. "You gonna join us, Kylie?" I ask. Joshua, Charlie, and I look at her. She slowly shakes her head "no". Kylie is staring at me weirdly.

Joshua rolls his eyes at her and kind of glares at her. Charlie and I look at each other and shrug.

Hours went by and Joshua is cracking jokes and riddles, Charlie is still stuffing his face, Kylie is still watching us, and I'm just enjoying everything.

Charlie yawned extremely loud. "Okay, you need to go to bed, Charlie." I said to him. "Aw, do I need to?" Charlie pouted. I nodded and pointed to a bed. He pulled to the bed.

After I tucked him in, I walked back to the table. "You're really good with him. You know that, Winter," Joshua said, smirking. I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. I'm kind of glad that I am," I said, smiling warmly. "Why's that ?" he asked, tilting his head like a puppy.

"Charlie's just a little kid caught up in all of this. I think he sees me as an older sister and I see him as a little brother. I imagine his mother is probably worried sick, and when we get out of this he gonna be okay. I won't him go home scarred. So, yeah, I'm glad I'm good with him," I explained.

Joshua looked at me with wide eyes. "You make so much sense, but the same time you have some weird logic." He said. "Thanks," I said, beaming.

I yawned. "Time for bed, missy," Joshua said, mockingly. I rolled my eyes and giggled. "Okay, mister Joshua," I said, walking to a bed.

"Goodnight, Joshua."

"Goodnight, Winter."
