I'm going to be late! Where is it? How can I lose something so important! I thought to myself as I threw more papers to the ground. Being Alpha isn't so bad, until you lose your appointment book. I love being Alpha, but that damn book has to be with me at all times or else I'm so lost. It's almost one o'clock in the afternoon and I can't help but feel like I have a very important meeting. Of course, my memory has to fail me today of all days.

"Ah-ha! Found you!" I exclaim in victory as my hand found the rough, brown leather. I quickly opened it up to find today's date. April 30th.. No.. May 1st.. No.. May 2nd.. Here we go! I skimmed the day and frowned. My whole afternoon was open. My last meeting was at eleven o'clock this morning. That was the last thing written down for today. Weird. I haven't had an afternoon off since I was named Alpha a month ago.

I slowly started to clean the papers I threw to the ground. I tried to think of things to do. What did I do before I was Alpha? I cleaned the house with my mom, helped my dad with random chores, trained with my brother. As I was thinking about it, I never had free time then either. I was always helping someone do something. I read a little bit in between all my chores but it was a chapter a week maybe. I'm sure I could find something to do. Maybe take a nice long bubble bath while listening to some music.

There was a soft knock on my office door as it slowly opened. A blond head popped in and looked around.

"Yes, Damien? Can I help you?"

"Well, ma'am, um, I think you need to see this more than hear it," he stammered.

"See what? Where?" I asked walking swiftly around my desk and towards Damien.

"In the court yard."

I fast walked out the front door into the court yard. The breath in my lungs left me as I looked at the sight on the sandy cobblestone. My brother was surrounded by guards who were stationed around the pack house. He was bloody and his clothes were ripped apart. His left eye was swollen almost completely shut, the right was not looking any better. His once blond hair was now brown with dirt. His soft face was now hard and menacing looking.

"Simon?" I gasped, running down the stairs.

I was stopped by one of the guards and the sound of a guttural snarl. Simon looked at me with eyes swirling between his normal hazel color and charcoal black. What happened to my brother? He was so gentle with me, he never snarled or growled at me. He was my big brother, my savior, my protector. But who is this?

"Alpha, it is not wise to barge into a situation that you know nothing about. He has killed one pack member and injured another. He is not himself anymore," the guard, who I recognized to be Braiden, said with a grim face.

"Let me speak to him. He might snap out of it if he hears someone he knows, someone he loves," I pleaded.

"You can do that right from where you are. You are not getting any closer to him. We just got you, Alpha," Braiden said, his voice getting softer with every word.

I nodded and looked Simon in the eyes. He was still in there. My big brother had to be in there somewhere.

"Simon, it's me, Elise. It's so good to see you back here alive. I've missed you, we've all missed you. I missed having my training partner. Remember that time I almost had you pinned, but then you faked that I broke your elbow? Mom was so mad at you for scaring me like that. Do you remember, Simon? Do you remember me?" I asked taking a step forward, tears filling my eyes.

Simon was snarling the whole time I was talking but got quiet when I asked if he remembered me. He looked confused at first, then his face went to sadness, then to recognition. He tried to take a step toward me, but was blocked by another guard.

"E-Elise? You look different. Your hair, it's longer," Simon said, starring in disbelief. "My wolf, he took control of me. I don't have full control over him now. Please, lock me up. Keep everyone safe. Elise, I beg you, lock me up. I can't keep control for much longer," he said looking more and more panicked as he went on.

Braiden looked at me for permission. I nodded my head slowly as the tears finally spilled out. I watched as they dragged my big brother away from me to the jail house. I felt a big hand on my shoulder. I pulled my eyes away from Simon to see Alpha Blaine standing behind me.

"I'm sorry I didn't announce my voyage here. I wanted to surprise you, so I asked your Beta for entrance. I was half way here when I found him on the side of the road like that. It took four of my men to hold him down long enough for me to knock him out. I'm so sorry it had to be this way. Say, why don't I take you to my club? It's in the next town over, werewolf only," Blaine says pushing me toward a black SUV.

I looked back at Braiden, who looked dumbfounded, and mind linked him: Timothy is in charge until I return. Mind link me if anything happens. Interrogate Simon, ask what happened. Get some answers. I, on the other hand, needed to release stress, and what better way than to get wasted and party.
