"Want anymore?"

"Yeah, one more," I said to the bartender. It's been a month since that she-wolf became an Alpha. How could the Elders do such a thing? Females are weak and can't protect a whole pack like a male wolf can. I heard she is doing well, then again, her pack isn't at war with anyone. Yes. A war. That could surely show the Elders a female can't run a pack. I can kill a few members and then show her mercy by bringing her pack in if she steps down. Who doesn't want to join the biggest pack in the US?

I felt a power emanating behind me. I felt this kind of power once. At the naming ceremony when I looked at Elise. If I didn't know any better I would say she's my mate, but I lost my mate two years ago. I was foolish and let her leave. She wanted to go to the woods and I said yes. I knew rouges we're out there. I knew the risks. But I still let my Helena go. I found her mangled body after sunset. The whole search party saw me lose control. My wolf mourned for months over his mate.

I turned around and finally looked at her again. Her long blond hair was swaying with her hips to the beat of the song. She had a beer bottle in her raised hand. Her eyes closed. She looked peaceful. Her jeans fit her just right in all the right places. Her black shirt was cut up the sides in horizontal lines. I was enjoying myself just watching her, totally forgetting she was an Alpha. I felt no need to go up to her, I just wanted to watch her.

She finished her beer and put it on one of the bar tables next to her. And then he came in. How does she know Blaine? He's the Alpha of the second biggest pack and she is one of the smallest. He hands her another beer and starts to dance with her. I feel my wolf stir at that.

Stop him!

I slid off of my stool and walked through the crowd. Without even realizing what I was doing, I grabbed Blaine's shoulder and spun him toward me. I punched him with almost everything I had. Elise covered her mouth in horror. But only for a moment. Her face contorted in anger and she threw her own punch. She sent me flying into the crowd knocking a few people down with me.

"Why did you do that! You are crazy!" She yelled at me as I got up.

"I don't know! I just felt like I needed to protect you!" I wiped the blood from my lip and started to walk away.

"Wait, I need to talk to you," she said pulling up Blaine.

"Set up an appointment with my receptionist at my pack house. I'll think about meeting up with you then," I replied, wading through the crowd. I rubbed my jaw as I walked to my car. That girl might be little but she sure can throw a punch.

The next morning I wake up to pounding on my door. Groggily I get up to answer the door. I ran my hand through my messy black hair to tame it. No such luck. I pulled on my pants as the pounding continued.

"Can you wait a damn minute! I was slee-" I stopped dead in my tracks as I opened the door. Elise stood there in a white dress, her hair up in a neat pony tail.

"I called this morning. Your Beta said your morning was clear. I asked if I can come over and he said yes. Your maid showed me the way up here," she said.

"Leave. I don't want you here. I don't support a She-Alpha," I said trying to close the door.

She shoved her foot in the door and said "I know you feel it too. The power surge every time we see each other. I want to know what you want to do about this. I want to speak to the Elders. You're not my mate. I know you aren't," she looked down, "I heard about your mate."

"I don't want to do a damn thing about it. You can do whatever you want but I want nothing to do with it. Now leave."

She quietly left. That didn't take much. I knew she wouldn't be a good Alpha. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She can't even stand up for what she believes in.

I go in the bathroom and start the shower. As I wait for it to warm up, I go to the closet to get my clothes for the day out. Black jeans, button up shirt, tie, socks, and shoes. I hear a soft knock at the door.

I open it a crack to peer out. No one was there. I open the door wider and see an envelop on the floor. I pick it up and flip it over. Alpha Blaine Pierce. I flip it again to open it and notice the seal. Moon Light.

I open the envelope and read the letter. You are invited to Moon Light Pack House tomorrow night at 6pm. We will be serving a feast in your honor. We will also be joined by Elder Thomas and Elder Mathias. Thank you for your time. With best regards, Elise Davenport.

Oh great. The Elders will be there. Now I have to show up. I went back to my shower and continued to get dressed. She must have known I would refuse to speak with her. She might not be that brave but she is smart.
