Bryce
I couldn't stop thinking about Elise. Her eyes swirling in my mind, her musical voice, and, my goddess, that beautiful hair. The way she walks even entrances me. I know she's important to me. But is all she told me true? The Goddess destined us to be together some how. We're not mates, but I'm supposed to protect her with my entire life?
"Alpha, sir?"
"Uh, yeah. Come in, Toby."
"Sir, we just got a call from the Moon Light Pack. They're under attack. Alpha Elise called back all of her guards and she's facing the attacker alone," Toby said, coming into my office. He looked frantic and seemed like he ran here from Moon Light territory himself.
"Who's attacking them?" I demanded, jumping up from my desk. I grabbed my coat and started to head out of the door.
"Alpha Ryan. Where are you going? I thought you didn't like the She-Alpha. I only told you about the attack because you would be happy that somebody was finally putting that bit-"
I slammed Toby against the wall by his throat. "Do not call her that. I've thought and thought about it. I have over reacted about this She-Alpha thing. She has proven to me that she is smart and she can take care of a pack. I saw some her strategy plans in her office last night. She can do this, but not alone. She doesn't have enough enforcers. Get the boys and head out. I will meet you there," I let him go and started to turn away. "Also, never question my motives again. You may be my Beta and my best friend, but that gives you no right to question your Alpha."
"Y-yes sir."
I raced out of the house and had to pause. Car would take me over two hours to get to the Moon Light pack house, even if I broke all the speed limits and then I would have to deal with the human police if I was caught. Going in my human form would take even more time. My wolf would be my best bet. I would be running in the wide open for quite a few miles, but the humans would just think that I'm an abnormally big wolf. I highly doubt any normal human would call me into the police.
I'm running there. You and the others take a car or two. I mind linked to Toby.
I felt the usual whoosh of air as I transformed into my wolf. I ran through the darkness of the woods. A few of the trees made way for some light to shine through. I have seven miles of trees to run through until I reach the road and then there will be nothing to give me cover. after that I have many, many more miles to run. It won't be so bad. I once ran from Pennsylvania to Florida with only a one day stop. Please don't be dead.
Elise
"Ryan? Why are you attacking my people? We had a peace treaty with you," I stammered as I walked down the pack house steps.
"I had one with your father, not you, you worthless mutt," he sneered at me. His eyes going between green and black.
"You killed my people. You broke the treaty that you made with my father. You come into MY territory and expect me to back down easy?" I seethed walking closer to him.
"Bring it on, mutt."
I lunged at him. One of his men jumped at me at the same time. I countered it and twisted so my feet landed right in his face. It knocked him into a few more men, knocking them all down to the ground. I landed on my feet a few feet away looking into Ryan's mocking eyes.
"This is between you and me. Not your men. Call them off. I don't want to kill them," I snarled at him. His face changed for a minute, like a look of confusion and then fear and then back to his sneer.
"I didn't realize that you had the Goddess's touch. Interesting. Stand back, boys, this one will be between only us. Besides, she-wolf or not, she's still an Alpha," Ryan said, with a flick of his hand.
"Stop!"
We all snap our heads to the sound of the yell. Bryce was running over the hill a few yards away. How did he know about this? Was this just a random visit and he didn't expect this? If he did just hear about this, how did he get here so fast?
"Ryan, back down. If you attack this She-Alpha, I will break our treaty and you will regret that," Bryce raged to the other Alpha. Ryan's face changed as quickly as it had before. It went from anger, to fear, and back to anger.
"You have no command over me, Bryce. You are the one in the wrong. You have no reason to be here other than to help me take this pack down to the ground. Every single one of them. Anyone who supports such an abomination deserves nothing but death. Are you in or not, Alpha?" Ryan's eyes went crazy as he was speaking.
"Do you not remember what the Elders said at Elise's ceremony? No matter what, any Alpha who revolts against her will be declared a rogue pack. You can back away now or you can explain everything to the Elders who are on my speed dial."
Ryan's face didn't flicker like it was earlier, no, this time it was stuck at fear. If he were in his wolf form, his tail would probably be in between his legs. All he did to respond was snap his fingers at his men and walk away.
"My office. Now."
Bryce snapped his head to me with a confused look on his face. He didn't say a word but just followed me into the pack house. We walked down the long hallway. My hair had fallen out of my bun along time ago so my hair swayed past my butt. We walked into my office, which was still a mess from the previous day.
"How could you do that? I was doing just fine by mys-"
He kissed me.
