chapter 4

The sun was already setting when I finally made it back to Dimitri's hide out, I had found my old stake from before all this drama had happened and I changed into my usual pants and a tank top.  I had taken Dimitri's old photo graph and burned it.  He was gone, just another strigoi now. 

I opened the door and was quickly greated by two strigoi.  "Rose Hathaway is back?"  I smiled at them and nodded.  I closed my eyes and let them come at me.  Slowly but surely they were dead and I ran up the stairs and found they were the only two guards.

I opened each door finding no one until the last door.  There were pictures of me everywhere.  I shut the door behind me trying not to cry.  He hadn't forgotten me.  "Rose?"  I turned to his voice and he actually looked scared.  "Rose help me."  I walked over to him and sighed.

"I'm going to help you."  I kissed him gently and shoved my stake through his chest.  I watched as he crumbled down.  I cried for the first time in months.  I was gone.  I had died with him this time.  But the part of me that died only brought out the real Rose Hathaway.  The guardian.

2 years later

"Lissa, the plane leaves in two hours and you aren't even out of bed!"  I yelled at her after returning from my morning run.  I was now Lissa's guardian and she was queen.  Christian and her were engaged and my life was great so far.  I was dating anyone since Dimitri and I hadn't really had eyes for anyone but him.  Life was good though. 

"I'm up.  Do you have to be such a pain Rose?"  I smiled at her and pointed towards the bathroom.

"Hurry.  Christian is already downstairs cooking."  I ran downstairs just as there was a knock at the door.  "I'll get it!"  I yelled.  I don't know why I did.  Everyone knew not to open the door unless I said so.  As I opened it a very handsome man stood smiling at me.

"Hello I'm Alexander Belvar, I have been assigned to Christian Ozera."  I looked him up and down.  He had dark brown hair and deep green eyes.  He sounded french and I smiled.

"Hi I'm Rose.  Christian is in the kitchen.  We are leaving in two hours to go to the Italy school of vampires."  He walked inside and slapped my butt.  I turned but he was gone.  This guy was going to get annoying.

So what does everyone think is going to happen with Alexander?
