David, Luna and Sierra sped through the deserted streets of Manhattan towards an unknown destination. Sierra had heavily objected to David driving but then again, guns were pretty convincing. Sierra sat in the back-seat and whenever Luna turned to look at her she would shoot Luna dagger. Luna was shocked by a sudden turn into a small alley of which the car barely fit. Luna could barely make out the other end, but that's because there wasn't one. David was speeding right towards the wall at the end of the alley. Luna tried to stop him but it was no use, there was nowhere to go. As they neared the wall the car started to shake and light spilled through the windows, it was almost as if they were driving along the surface of the sun. Suddenly the shaking stopped and so had the Impala.
Luna carefully opened her eyes, they appeared to be in the same alley but something was different, David started to back out of the alley.
“What the hell was that?” Luna screamed at David, he maintained his calm composure and ignored her, Luna looked back at Sierra whose face had gone from a murderous expression to one of pure pants-wetting fear.
David pulled out of the alley into a seemingly deserted street, he parked on the curb and ordered the girls to get out. David gestured for Luna and Sierra to follow him down the road slightly, Luna was sent into a spiral of confusion by a massive wall of wrecked cars that hadn't been there previously. Luna looked up and noticed the sky was an eerie shade of reddish orange, she'd just assumed it was the sun rising.
“So..” Luna started in her usual tone, “Where are we? And don't you dare say Manhattan David or I swear to-..”
“Manhattan.” He cut her off, she grunted and jabbed him in the ribs, he flinched.
“Fine! Fine! We may have jumped forward in time, obviously I didn't mean to but..”
“When are we?” Luna demanded suddenly realising how cliché that sounded. David pulled the device they had used in the office building out once again and held it high above his head. He stood still for a few moments and brought it back to eye level.
“We appear to be in.. 2021.” He stated, sounding fairly confused himself, “I'm also detecting high levels of.. Something in the air, the scanner can't identify it but we really shouldn't take our chances.”
“So I take it that red stuff in the sky is..?” Luna gestured for David to finish. He simply shrugged.
“Well it's 2pm in the afternoon so I doubt it's what you think it is.” David stated as he paced up and down the street. Suddenly a small voice buzzed into existence inside Luna's head.
“All units to Madison Avenue! Level 8 Incursion detected, prepare to use deadly force!” The voice buzzed clouded slightly by static. Luna looked around for some kind of indication of where they were, she managed to found a street sign slightly up the road.
MADISON AVE.
Spectacular, she thought to herself.
“David! Someone’s coming for us!” She yelled back down the street, David was alarmed by this and both him and Sierra hurried up the street to meet her.
“Who?!” David demanded, Luna blinked at him, disoriented for a moment.
