Joey comfortably sat at a park bench with his knees plastered to his chest for his chin to rest upon. He flicked his feet back and forth childishly as other people passed. A blanket of calmness had wrapped around him as he sat on the bench in his little circle. A circular white line edged the bench as if Joey were trapped in a bubble. He liked the comforts of his circle and feared to ever leave it.
People continued to pass when one particular man caught his eye. Tall, green eyes, defined chin, perfect hair... he seemed to be the epitome of perfection. Joey read the man's name painted on his forehead 'Daniel.' Joey knew he must be an open book for only those who had the courage would show their name like this. The man named Daniel seemed to also be very curious about Joey, sitting in his own little circle.
Daniel slowly approached which made Joey's heart leap with an indescribable feeling. Was he safe? Joey wasn't sure how to react as the man stood barely centimetres away from the line of his circle. With one graceful step Daniel had entered Joey's circle. What did this mean? No one had ever entered Joey's circle as easily as this mysterious man...
"Hello," he softly spoke, "I see your name is not on your canvas? Why should a man as beautiful as you hide his name?" Daniel flattered sweetly.
Joey felt the apples of his cheeks turn a bright red as Daniel stepped a little closer with a questioning expression. Joey felt the warm vibes expressing from Daniel and decided he liked this ever so mysterious man.
"It really is a beautiful day," Daniel noted, "The sky is a soft green and the grass an icy blue, just beautiful," Daniel began to trail off into his own thoughts until he brought his attention back to Joey.
"I'm not sure," Joey breathed, "What if it's not safe?" Joey felt his hyperventilation creeping upon him.
"Trust me sweetie... I won't let you get hurt."
With a deep breathe Joey agreed taking in Daniel's hand and placing one foot out of his circle. "Ouch, it hurts Daniel," Joey whimpered.
"It will at first but you just have to trust me... Everything will be okay in the end," Daniel reassured Joey, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Set with determination Joey inhaled once more, this time completely stepping out of his circle, dragging Daniel out with him. He felt a sense of an overwhelming achievement and shared a grin with Daniel. "Thank you," he whispered into Daniel's shoulder pulling him into a hug. Joey turned around to see the outside world from a different perspective for the first time. Fluffy pink clouds bounced through the sky as people smiled and chattered as they walked by; all was good.
Joey couldn't help but notice how everyone seemed different outside his circle. A few people in particular caught his attention; their eyes either pure white or pure black and barred with grubby yellow and black teeth and also wearing black hooded cloaks. Joey was not one to judge so he accepted these odd humans who stood at afar. However Joey couldn't help but feel uncomfortable as they began to approach. The figures grew larger in size and the noises that erupted from their mouths were dreadfully terrifying. Joey tried with all his might not to be sceptical but he couldn't help but notice the words written up their arms as they came nearer. They slithered closer and closer, hissing "Joey..."
