Let's see, already 15 minutes of my 17 year old life and I'm already giving up. It was my long time dream to start fresh and have a year that was merely normal. However my life was never normal, no matter how hard I wish it to be. Well to be fair, I did wake up late today, and I didn't iron my clothes the night before, I stayed up last minute to finish that huge pile of holiday homework, but hey, I don't think I deserve to be treated in such horrific manner. I charged down the stairs as fast as I could trying to be as calm as I could, devoured my breakfast and quickly took my trusty bike and set off for school. As I was devouring my food, looks like the early bird of the family had an overwhelming experience yesterday night. Technically it was a blessing, because if he was awake, I would have not even had the chance to rush. Rushing is not his route, also known as my dads route of doing things, he prefers to take things slow and easy. Like seriously, if you had a paper due tomorrow, how could you even chill at home while watching Netflix?
Well enough about my old man, I paddled my bicycle to school with my "back to school mood" on, I really enjoyed these mood swings you know? Its one of the little things that make our life so interesting and gives us a free roller coaster ride. I mean, who doesn't love a free roller coaster ride? You gotta be honest, without emotions, our lives would be no more than a plain piece of shit. I arrived at school earlier than usual because it was the first day of school, and me and the squad had more stuff to chat about than usual.
Obviously, its no normal squad, there's booby traps everywhere and as I parked my bicycle, two hands suddenly grabbed me along with my bicycle backwards and I nearly fell off the cliff.
Oh no, im serious. This ain't some drama shit, this is a real, true life story. Our school is placed on a hill, and I still don't understand, there is so much space at the teachers parking lot which always is barely occupied, however our principle stated that that is "disrespectful" and "not appealing" to the teachers, so they decided to place the students parking lot near the edge of this life threatening cliff. Even though its fenced up, we still think that the principle is basically trying to get rid of us. But that's okay, nobody loves school, and im graduating this year.
"Dude that isn't funny!" I screamed in grief.
"Your such a woman Bryan!" Jason laughed.
"Listen, I don't believe any woman would ever want to get thrown down a cliff."
Jason is one of the guys in the squad, and also one of my best friends.
"Where's Daniel?"
"Hasn't arrived."
Our squad is basically made up of three people, me, Jason and Daniel. We've been best friends since kindergarten, and we were born to screw people's life up mate.
Me and Jason, while waiting for daniel's appearance, we walked towards the school notice board, which was packed with people.
I still don't get what's that interesting about a board stapled with a whole bunch of papers, I actually pity that board.
The only thing that me and Jason could hear were people saying "PROM IS TWO MONTHS FROM NOW!! AND THE THEME IS MASCQUERADE!"
Besides that, we could also hear what we thought were girls saying: "Oh my god, we gotta search tumblr for some prom dress ideas! I mean, it's the social event of the year!" "Handsome strangers under masks! My heart is beating!"
"Bro, you going prom?" I tapped on Jason's shoulder as I asked him.
"Prom is bullshit mate. You seriously going?"
Clearly I guess my tone was abit on the "prom's absolutely bullshit" side, cause Jason was just pissed.
"Dude, you know that's technically the only chance for me to get close to Piper." Jason said with grief.
Jason had this huge crush on Piper for as long as I could remember, but every time in school, he acts as if he has absolutely NOT A HINT OF LIKING for Piper. But if Piper were to brush past us at school, he would first show his manly face, and as soon as she walks past, he would shake Daniel aggressively, be set off on a mood none of us had any idea about, and say "IS IT OKAY IF I WALK BACKWARDS AND CHASE HER."
"You know, you could really just ask Piper out." I said as we left the crowd, entering the cafeteria.
"Im sorry, but there is no such thing as just "asking her out", I mean it would be the equeavilant of a stranger asking her out. Absolutely no sincerity."
But you see, Jason has been crushing on Piper and being her best friend since the day I opened my eyes, it wouldn't be a surprise or no sincerity.
Jason had said this since primary school, he grew up with this principle, which was amazing. But turning to reality nowadays, people just get comfortable with people so easily, and they just date at that instance, without thinking about a road, or a path they have to create. Techincally, I already accepted that reality, in fact, I live by this reality now, I just didn't know how to break it to Jason.
"So yea you already promised to accompany me to prom with Daniel, so if anything happens on that day itself, Im gonna cry in the bathroom with you guys."
"Focus on getting her to agree with you taking her to prom you little rascal."
"That's the mission impossible of the year." Jason sighed.
"Whoa homies we talking about prom without me? You asses." Daniel then came and nearly strangled me and Jason to death. I swear it ain't the friendly strangle, I suspect Daniel really wanted us dead.
"Daniel, my boy. You going prom yo?" Jason said while unraveling Daniel's hand around his neck.
"Not sure, all up to Bryan pretty boy here." Daniel said while strangling me even harder.
"Dude im gonna kick your pretty ass if you don't let go of me." I said while I catch my breath
"Aww its okay homie cause I'll be happy to go to prom and be gay with you." Daniel cooed.
"What the hell man your creepy." I finally got out of that creepy embrace.
"Not as creepy as Jj here." Daniel pointed towards Jason.
At that moment, when Piper walked pass us, Jason's eyes were practically glued towards Piper as she walked down the hallway.
Piper was a beauty, I have to admit myself. She used to have this nerdy glasses and straight brown hair paired with braces, not really appealing to those maniacs we call men nowadays. She was always known as the nerd, but I guess once she hit 17 she wanted to slay all of us as well as any person who laid their eyes on her. Her thick brown hair is now highlighted with some blonde coloured highlights (I know its weird but she slays this look) and she curled her hair to make it wavy. Her hair lays gracefully at her décolletage, and she ditched the glasses, revealing her round beautiful blue eyes, and her braces got removed as well, so Piper really is a beauty. But too bad people only realized her once she made all the changes, I guess humans really are creepy creatures.
"Hey Jj!" Piper smiled as she walked in our direction, clearly calling Jason's nickname.
"Hey Pipes!" Jason said as he maintained his poker face.
"Yo pipes." I said as I waved at Piper.
Piper is really close with us, she is practically our sister, well my sister. She lives next to my house, Piper has been my childhood friend for so long, she knows me at the tips of her fingers. But neither me or Pipes had the feels for each other, I guess we were better off as friends when god decided "This two youngsters shall be friends that are so close until thy neighbor suspects them but they are really just friends, I just need some drama to watch from here."
Thanks god, for getting me into a tremendous amount of rumors with Pipes, but that really never affected us.
When we were 8, Jason was so furious about Pipes staying over at my house as her parents were having a huge quarrel that he literally unfriended me for exactly two hours and thirty five minutes until pipes explained everything to him and he said:" Oh hell no im not mad! "
"You guys going prom much?" Piper said to us.
"Not sure yet Pipes." Daniel answered.
"It would be better to go in a group of six, we can have 50% off the ticket price." Piper said while taking out the prom notice.
"When will they start selling tickets?" Jason asked.
"Not sure mate, but it won't be now, you know, principle loves to keep everything to last minute, he loves to watch us as we struggle in our own web of anxiety." Piper sighed.
"So it's me, you, Daniel, Jason, Jin Wei and.....?"
but as I was asking this question, a wave of sorrow and unwanted memories was flowing within me.
"Logically we'd have to find another girl."
Daniel answered for a second.
"HOLY CRAP okay Bryan I'm so sorry I'm an idiot I never said that I'm offically a bastard." Daniel then shook Jason's hand aggressively while he shoved his head in his shoulders.
Piper looked at him and laughed, she then turned to me and whispered
"Its okay, just have fun, don't think about her."
"Yea, okay, I know."
"Hey guys urm I hate to break it to you but the school bell rang like five minutes ago." A prefect then came and broke the news to us, which left us running at the speed of lightning.
Me and Pipes had Science for first period, while Jason and Daniel had Chemistry. The two classes were located at the highest floor of the block, which obviously sucked. After heading back to grab our book bags, we rushed up the hallways and stairs, trying not be late.
I swear we need flying carpets and brooms in the school, Harry potter should really sponsor some to us, you know, to save students that are late from another battle with Serius Black.
Thank the heavens, we made it to our respective classes and managed to sneak in before the teacher began the day with her angelic voice.
She could really qualify as a hypnotizer you know? All teachers can. They slowly bring you into your dreams, very subtle though, as they slowly tuck you in your own fantasies, and all of a sudden you end up at the back of the class getting detention. Absolutely horrifying.
I drifted away as her voice brought me into a deep sleep like death. (Yes I'm sleeping beauty)
