I was draped on the desk, playing around with my pencil and doodling on my science workbooks. As I turned my head to the right, Piper was obviously getting a lot of attention from all the boys around her, I mean she could qualify for Aphrodite. And me? Well, I don't exactly call it "attention", I call it "attraction".
You see, attention is something you get from others, and what society nowadays use to describe what popular people getting. But I think attraction is more suitable, attraction dies down sooner or later, which is why I won't be crushing on a girl until my next life. I mean would you really think that the girl you love now will love you until you die? Too many love novels pollute the mind of innocent young children's perspectives about "love". Love is far too powerful for us to use, in my dictionary. Its just attraction force.
Well the three period class ended quite fast, because it usually takes me five lives to pass a day in school, and yes, I think im immortal. And it was finally lunch time.
I honestly don't understand why people nowadays love food so much. Don't get me wrong, I love food more than the next guy, but food ain't the freaking answer for every question. Or would you really think that you would go to a job interview and be like:"Okay why are you here again?" and you be all like "For my love of pizza, for the power of food I have to get this job."
And the next thing you know your life is in the dumpster.
People are just so weird nowadays. But despite all that, I must thank food for giving us the excuse to break,
I settled down at our usual spot at the cafeteria, Jason and Daniel had some extra lessons today, so they had to skip break, but today Pipes was here too.
"Whoa error 404 Pipes, what the hell you doing here mate."I said as I bit into his triple decker cheese sandwich.
"Oh no reason, just needed a break from all em fake bitches here." Piper said as she messed with her hair.
"Nobody ain't having a fake side ya know pipes. Plus you were fine this morning."
"Girls are just a handful! They can change in like seconds! One minute their happy, another minute their mad and planning their revenge on you!" Piper ranted.
"Well, relatable." I said as I let out a sacarstic cough.
"You can't blame us though. It wasn't our fault god created periods."
"Totes pipes."
"By the way can I stay over at your house today?" Piper asked.
It hasn't been since we were kids that Piper asked to stay over at my house. And that was just when her mom got into another debt.
"Sure. I'll prepare your room later." I said.
"The debts...are still not paid..."Piper said without making direct eye contact with me.
I knew what Piper was saying, I didn't want to pry anymore, what was meant to happen ought to happen one day.
"Bring whatever you need and get the fuck out of that house." I replied her as I had just took my book bag with me.
"You still have classes?" Piper asked.
"A few more, but don't worry, enough time for you to get everything you need."
To save time, I quickly rushed to the rest of my classes to get them over with. I didn't want Piper to be crying, bleeding and scarred when I reached home.
I was technically awake, looking at the clock, hoping for time to pass as fast as it could, I had to get back by four, that's usually when Piper's mom enters the house and wrecks everything before her.
For my last class, I had history class, which was the only class I had with Jason sadly. We sat together as I placed full focus on the clock, time seemed to pass even slower than usual.
Jason knew when I was worried about something, his six sense is stronger than the currents in the sea.
"Dude, something wrong?" Jason asked me as our history teacher was talking some bullshit up front.
"I'll have to run for life after history. Or Pipes is gonna get in deep shit." I said.
"Her mom again?" Jason asked
"Technically, well I could use some backup, wanna come my house after school to chill?"
"Definitely."
You see, when Jason agrees to something at an instance, you know that problem is very very very serious. Jason never agrees to anything, or anyone. But we all know the danger of Piper's mom, and we couldn't risk getting her hurt.
After history, it was 8 past three, which is not enough time for Piper to get her stuff at all. Me and Jason rushed out of the class as fast as we could, I paddled my bike as fast as I could while Jason gave Piper a ride.
But for once, in history class, I actually found out something, because I actually paid attention to the goddamn clock. The usual empty spot a few places away from me was taken, by this girl. I couldn't see her face properly, but that left me wandering if we had a new student in our school.
Well heck that, when we were at the curb turning into our housing area, we already saw Piper's mom's car ahead of us. Our first problem, Piper has no necessities, absolutely nothing. Second problem, we cant enter from the front door, we would obviously get caught. Third problem, my house does not have any backdoor, my dad got it sealed up because I was having too much fun walking in and out the house when I was 5.
Living in a terrace house, the only thing we can do now is climbing up to the window of the hallway where all the rooms were located, it was the only window that we could climb without dying while getting caught in some complicated bricks, and the only window we could fit in to.
We waited for Piper's mom to get down the car, drunk, and unstable as she charged down her front door. Once we were sure that she entered the house. We took the back route to my house and climbed up the window. We let Piper go first, since she technically was the one that is not supposed to get caught, she climbed and made her way through, she unlocked the window and slid in like jelly.
Piper is an expert in these kind of getaway shiz, because she had to, or else she would have gotten killed a long time ago. Her whole life was a series of fatal accidents, but I guess that's what make her such a strong contender.
After Jason nearly died while climbing up and nearly bringing me to death with him, we got into the house.
Suprisingly, a tall handsome, spitting image of me, but older and more matured, with messy bed hair and a "I just got out of bed and I already look this good" face appeared right in the middle of the hallway as we were abit stammered.
I mean, you get back home using a window, and your dad is standing in front of the window, seemingly catching you effortlessly. Damn that old man.
"Bryan, would you care to tell me why you and your friends are entering through a window when there is a front door where you can come in the house without any unnecessary deaths?" my dad asked sacarsticly.
Piper took my cue. "Sorry Mr Adrian, but you see, our deaths by falling from a window sounds better than me getting killed by a crazy woman in my own house."
My dad knew what was going on, so he did not continue asking Piper anything, he just left with a nod and serious face.
"Holy crap." Suddenly a thought struck my mind like a grenade.
"What?" Jason asked.
I rushed to the guest room and as expected, it was in absolute no condition for people to stay in, there were still red stains at the curtains, the bed was still undone, the bathroom door is hanging on its hinges, and the floor boards are out of place, on top of that was a whole bunch of furniture.
"I think its better that she stays at your room." Jason said while looking a bit horrified. "My future wife is not gonna get possessed by anything in here."
I'm not gonna mention the reason for this havoc, nor am I gonna talk about whether they really are spirits in here, just walking into this room makes me remember piercing screams from my childhood.
I walked up at Pipers direction, that led me into my room, that was when I noticed she had already laid out a mattress under my loft.
Piper knew the hallways of this house at the tips of her fingers, as I mentioned earlier, she was always my sister.
"Its okay I'll sleep here if you don't mind bruh." She finished laying the mattress as she wiped the seat on her forehead.
"Piper I have some extra bedding at home, how about later we go have pizza and stop over at my house first? I'll grab my stuff I need, I'll be sleeping over too." Jason said.
"Oh my god Bryan how about we have a sleepover? We'll call Jin Wei along with your squad?" Piper said in her "excited tone".
Piper's emotions were technically a flat line most of the time, they were very stable. So you can't really tell if she is really excited or if she is just pretending to lift up the mood.
Since Piper was technically the one who suggested this idea and she was the one suffering now, Jason and I agreed with her and we called Daniel while Piper called Jin Wei.
"Okay, totally, meet you guys at pizza hut." Piper said as she seemed excited.
Jason pulled me to another hallway as Piper and Jin Wei continued their conversation about bad friends etc.
"The debts are not paid yet?" Jason asked, worried.
"Yea, the landlord won't be happy, if they don't pay it by today, Piper is gonna end up in hell." I said as me and Jason walked down the stairs.
"Another family is looking into that house?" Jason looked down at the floor boards as he sighed.
"At a higher price even. Those landlords don't usually give a shit, as long as you give back their money your safe."
"Sigh, Pipes...." Jason mummered with hints of sadness.
Jason really loves Piper, trust me. Even though "love" doesn't exist in my dictionary, I really think he can qualify for Piper's future husband.
We suddenly heard a loud thump, something as loud as what an explosion would've sounded like. And as soon as I could react, Jason rushed to the window.
