It was the first morning after Piper and Jin Wei's first day of their permanent stay at my house. So my dad made us some breakfast sandwiches along with some PB&J sandwiches just in case Piper and Jin Wei isn't so used to having such a heavy breakfast before he left for work. Sometimes I wonder how he has the skill to whip up such scrumptious and mouth watering meals in such a limited amount of time.
I headed down to the kitchen for breakfast, in my pajama's as I tried to refresh my brain, since I only had about three hours of sleep.
Dad's breakfast sandwiches always contains half boiled eggs, bacon, cabbage, onions and olives, paired with his famous sweet onion sauce topped with a hint of mayo. Just looking at it makes my stomach grumble and my mouth insane.
Dad has always been a great cook, I think that explains my fat belly. (Just kidding) If I were to skip a meal, my dad would rather kick me out of the house. To him, food is where the heart is, which is true, and I'm grateful for it, because that means late night taco rounds and chicken noodle soup for mua!
'Morning.' Piper called to me as I was brewing my morning cup of joe at the counter. She was still in her pajamas, wearing her retainer and her big round nerd glasses with her freshly washed hair that hasn't been blow dried yet, but she tied it into a messy bun and since her hair has a natural curl already, it seemed as if she got attacked by a bear and she won, but she nearly died winning.
'Morning Pipes.' I said as I smiled as her.
'What are you smiling at?' She said, conscious of her bear attacked hair.
'Nah, nothing.' I really am not smiling at how ridiculous her hair is, nor have I even thought it was funny, but I guess my brain decided this was a really appropriate time to give out a giggle.
'Get use to this version of Piper instead of the one you see in school.' She playfully whacked me and pushed me to the side of the counter so she could reach the tea box.
'I'm too used to seeing this version of you.' I said and really meaning what I said. I've known the nerdy cute Piper since we were young, the person she was in school lately really struck me, not just for the fact that she looks stunning, but for the fact she looks like she is comfortable to be in her own skin, and is self confident. But I like this version of Piper better, the imperfect Piper with nerdy glasses and messy hair.
'It would be weird if the boy who lived next door to me for 17 years NOT to be used to the Piper who doesn't have perfect hair.' Piper said sarcasticly. 'By the way, brew my tea for me will you, your standing right in front of the hot water you selfish bastard.' She said as she handed me her tea bag that was in the empty cup.
'And for the fact you just made this change for these past four days.' I said while adding hot water to her cup. 'And yeah, here you are madam.' I handed her her tea.
'Such tooche service Bryan Walker.' She was seated with her sandwich, sipping her tea as she checked her Instagram.
'Jin Wei still sleeping?' I asked as I gobbled down my sandwich.
'That lazy pig, she is still cuddled up in her fantasies with her pillow.' Piper took a bite of her sandwich too, but as soon as she did, she looked up to me and said: 'Holy, you made this?'
'No, of course not.' I answered briefly.
'Haha, just joking. Your dad's sandwich is out of this world man. I'm going to be gaining a few hundred pounds during my stay here.'
'Yeah. And you'll grow fat and never get married you fat ass.'
'Hey. I'm not that shabby too you know. Not to brag, I'm seemingly fit. Fitter than you.'
'Okay, Miss Piper, I'm afraid we have to change now or we will never be able to reach school in time.' I stood up and brought my dishes to the sink. Then Piper and me went to get dressed, and Jin Wei too, I think.
I thought about what happened last night, the dream, and that weird encounter with Scarlett. I'm kind of suspecting that Scarlett was part of the dream, or that Scarlett didn't even exist. But like what she said yesterday, whether it was a dream or not, she was the newbie in our school, and she is in the same History class as me. There's no way I'm not gonna see her today. I changed and looked myself in the mirror, my eyes were still swollen from the crying yesterday, I sighed as I grabbed my book bag by my night stand. Even thinking of the dream made me tear up. It's so frustrating how a dream digs up all your insecurities, your fears, your heartache you took months to get over, and replay them all again, when the other person doesn't even give a shit.
I was tearing, again. What the hell man, am I getting my period or something? I didn't know, but I knew I couldn't cry now, I had to go to school. I suddenly remembered what Scarlett taught me yesterday, about controlling tears, I immediately crossed my eyes twice and made circular motions in my eye socket, then I looked down.
It worked again, damn that girl was something. But how did she know this trick? Let me rephrase that, why does she know this trick? Does she have the urge to cry often? If not, how would she know this?
I was questioned by this matter, but it didn't bother me much. I grabbed my lucky box and I brought it up close to my chest, I closed my eyes and whispered to it. 'Don't wipe your tears with her handkerchief.' It reminded me.
Yeah, okay. I kind of got that phrase, wiping my tears with her handkerchief really won't help, it doesn't make any use, it just adds to the heartache, making a fool out of myself. I shook the lucky box for awhile, then I shoved it in my drawer.
I took the stairs downstairs and I saw Jin Wei and Piper already waiting for me. To be honest, Jin Wei and Piper are fairly pretty girls, so sometime's if I'm caught with both of them people often call me names like Bad Boy or The Player. But that's okay, I guess, its not really out of hand yet.
'Jin Wei you taken your breakfast yet?' I asked her as we proceeded to the doorway.
'Nope. I'm not a breakfast person bro. I have, however packed it for lunch, it's way too rich for breakfast.' Jin Wei joked.
Even though I know Jin Wei was just trying to save her lunch money for college, I still went with her. I mean, I can't stop her from saving money for herself right? Her parents don't give a shit about her, so she has to save every penny for herself, so she can stay alive.
'Alright.' I nodded.
'So we're taking the bus?' Piper asked as we walked out the door, leading us to the porch.
'Do you think we can fit on Bryan's tiny bicycle?' Jin Wei said as she pointed to my bicycle.
'As a matter of fact it isn't tiny.' I opened the gate. 'I'm just afraid that it can't bare both of your weight. My bicycle is far more precious you know.'
They both pushed me out of the gate and slammed the gate right behind them, in a joking way. We headed to the bust stop.
Usually I take my bike to school, but I do catch the bus sometimes, when I'm lazy to paddle or waste my energy. Jason and Daniel take this bus too, sometimes they go on they're on, sometimes they use the bus. It really depends on the circumstance.
The bus came as soon as we reached the stop, we got onto the bus and was seated at our 'usual spot' aka the back three rows.
Each row had two seats, so when I do take the bus, Jason and Daniel are seated together, while Jin Wei and Piper sits behind them. I usually sit in front of all of them (I'm such a loner)
The bus was fairly empty, preferably only a few students were on the bus, because my house is located at the north part of the residential area. So the bus usually starts from the north part, gradually making its way down south the residential area until we reach school.
I sat down on my lonely spot in front while Piper and Jin Wei were chatting away at their seat, that meant I had an empty row behind of me, which made me even more lonely.
I took out my phone and I selected a decent playlist to listen to. I stuffed only one of my earphones in my ears. I usually do this when I just need music to accompany whatever I'm doing but I can't completely shut the world off.
Gradually, the amount of people increased, and the bus grew noisier and louder. Jason was on the bus too, and it's not long before Daniel get's on soon since we are passing by his housing area now.
At least thanks to Jason I wouldn't be bored to death, but he still decided to sit behind of me at his usual spot. I really don't get them, they have to sit at they're usual spot rather than accompany me? I just realized a chair is more important than me. *sobs.
When we stopped at the stop near Daniel's housing area, a huge flock of people came in. Daniel squeezed and made his way inside the bus to his seat, he messed with my hair before he sat down though. I guess since Daniel's housing area was an area that was more promoted and advanced, more people live here. Once they settled in the bus doors closed. But it opened again, supposingly I think the bus driver accidentally left out some students. Nobody really cared who came on the bus since they were all occupied with they're own stuff. However, who came through the door, but a girl with purple highlights and dark brown hair!
I recognized that face and hair anywhere, I could feel a flush of redness blushing through my cheeks, I don't know why. I searched for her eyes until it met hers, she saw my eyes, and she gave me a managed smile. I was relived, that meant yesterday was not a dream (unless she dreamt the exact dream as I did yesterday), and I actually know her. There was something about her eyes that made me feel suspicious, her eyes were more troubled and lost. She looked so agile, so frail, but there was also a hint of coldness and passion hidden in it. Maybe for the fact that the bus was packed with noisy, rowdy people, made her feel uneasy. (duh) The only empty spot that was left was the place next to mine. She stumbled through the crowd on the bus and managed to find the empty spot next to my seat. But before she made her way through the crowd, she accidentally tripped on one of the cheerleaders leg which was placed RIGHT in the middle of the aisle. And like in all movies, the cheerleader team managed to stop her, along with some members of the baseball team.
Tiffany and Annabelle. The world's bitchiest cheerleaders EVER. They could literally shove you in your locker and make everyone laugh at you. Not including me, of course. They are in Alexis's squad (Kind of a red flag for me when I was dating her). They think they are achieving squad goals, but honestly I think they are just crazy people who are craving attention. Alexis is in cheer too, but I don't just label her as a bitchy cheerleader, I label her as HORRIFIC CHEERLEADER. They're bitchiness level is incompetetable.
'Purple ass bitch.' Annabelle said as she twirled Scarlett's purple highlights with her fingers while she was chewing gum. Scarlett was just confusedly standing there.
'Annabelle don't welcome the newbie with such horrible manner.' Tiffany snarled at Scarlett.
At this point, I really want to smack they're pretty faces. Who do they think they are? Jason, Daniel, Jin Wei and Piper were aware of this situation, so they just kept quiet, but we could feel all eyes on the bus were now on the three of them.
'Oh, It's about to go down!' Kids on the bus were screaming. 'The queens are going to show you how it's like!' the baseball team guys screamed.
Scarlett's eyes turned from innocent and frail, to cold and merciless. She stood over there, with Annabelle's fingers still in her hair, and Tiffany's face a few inches away from hers.
'Holy crap.' Jin Wei whispered to us.
Scarlett was wearing her hoodie, like all the times when I see her. With her hands holding the strap of her bag. She looked like she was about to kill someone.
'Aww.' Annabelle cooed. 'You're angry?'
'What do you know.' Tiffany laughed as she flipped her hair, she took off her jacket that exposed her crop top, I wasn't sure, but I think you can see her abs, cause boys in the bus were getting rowdy and screaming.
'Oops. I'm sorry I knew you couldn't handle the sass.' Tiffany wore back her jacket, with her messy hair, she grabbed Scarlett by the neck. 'Baby girl, purple, is so last season you know?'
The bus got crazy, they were witnessing a fight right in front of their eyes, and I don't know why they were all supporting Tiffany and Annabelle. Like hello, what have you been doing by the constant reminders and nagging's to be an anti-bully? How did you escape all those talks and newspapers?
Well that didn't matter. Scarlett looked like she was about to cry, but her eyes then turned merciless. Suprisingly, she said with the most bitchiest and cold face ever.
'Hah, but I don't really care and I don't need that.' Scarlett scoffed.
'Who the hell you think you are? Bitch..'
'Baby please, don't kill my vibe.' Scarlett just cut Annabelle off. The bus was screaming and excited.
'Peasant, you're a peasant, wherever I go, guys are lining up! They see my body and they cry.' Tiffany grabbed her even harder.
'A warm affenctionate look, that's what you're trying to maintain.' Scarlett continued in the most coldest tone ever. 'Even if you don't say it, I know what you want, I can tell. A-tten-tion.' Scarlett then brushed Tiffany's hands off of her neck. 'Sadly, I'm not gonna play with you.' She rolled her eyes and made way to my seat, it was so bitchy but so awesome at the same time.
'I already got attention. Low cut clothes, seductive looks, fame, a perfect figure, I have it all. I don't need you to give me attention.' Tiffany grabbed Scarlett by the shoulder and turned her to face her.
'Yeah. Everyday fresh clothes and I'm unexpectedly really shy. I guess I am incompatible with you?' She brushed her hands off again and headed to my direction.
'You bitch!!' Annabelle was screaming and jumping, with her hands messing with her hair.
'Yeah, just do that. Put your hands up like you got your country's back. Jump up like you would sprain your ankle. Burn up like you would set me on fire, and the only thing set into flames is you.' Scarlett let out a last scoff before she was seated next to me.
The people on the bus were going crazy, nobody has told those two bitches off, ever, and now, the newbie just did that, in the sleekest way possible. Scarlett just made history.
Tiffany and Annabelle were pissed, they stomped off to their sit filled with embarrassment.
'Whoa.' I said, stunned. 'That was......'
'Hehe!' She chuckled. The sweet girl was back. 'All thanks to drama's and my alter ego!' she gave me a peace sign.
'That was epic.' I said. 'You totally won them big time.'
'I know right!' 'Oh my god it feels so good to be bad once in awhile haha!' She laughed.
Jason and Daniel, interrupting our conversation, turned to Scarlett.
'Hey newbie.' Daniel cooed. 'Stop scaring her Uncle Daniel.' Jason whacked Daniel's head. 'You totally slayed them'
'Dude you should have heard the whole thing! They were getting all worked up and being all crazy and cussing. But you didn't even cuss a single world! Sleekest backfire ever!' Daniel blabbered.
'All thanks to alter ego' Scarlett smiled sweetly.
'Man your scary at times, I mean who would've known the innocent newbie was the one who slayed those two asses?' Jason sounded seemingly amazed.
'Not to mention your poker face, on fleek.' Daniel added.
'Wow.' Now Jin Wei came forward too.
'Epic!' Piper screamed.
'You guys are being too nice to me now.' Scarlett was blushing. 'Its like I've accomplished some mission to Mars. But all I did was just being bitchy to those two.' She looked down as if she was embarrassed.
'Please, I wanted to slap those two faces as much as I wanted to get a prom date.' Piper was still hyped.
'Whoa Pipes, you haven't have a prom date yet?' Jason asked.
'Yeah, will you be my prom date?' Piper sounded like she was joking, but she sounded like she was serious too.
'C'mon stop being sweet here! Single lady over here.' Scarlett smiled.
'Same!' Jin Wei high fived Scarlett.
'But totally, it was absolutely fine for you to stand up for yourself.' Piper said.
'Not to mention those two bastards are......' Jason made a fist.
Our bus then stopped at school, we all got down the bus, but I could tell something is going to be different nowadays.
