"I see him in my dreams." Evangeline said, her head was looking down at her fingers as they picked away at the excess skin around her fingernails. "What does that mean Cassie?" She looked up at Cassandra who had a look of distain across her face.
"He cut off your arm Evangeline." Cassandra never let her forget that. Evangeline looked down at the space where her left forearm once was.
"I know." Evangeline frowned, reaching for her phantom limb. "Why do I even talk to you about these things?" Evangeline stood up from her seat.
"Because you know I'll be brutally honest with you."
"I'm just going to go." Evangeline makes her way to the tavern door.
"To take another nap?" Evangeline stopped in her tracks at Cassandra's comment.
"Something like that." She left Cassandra sitting there by herself. Evangeline only told a few people about her dreams of Solas. Cassandra may not understand but she respects Evangeline and gives good advice, even if she doesn't want it. The only others that Evangeline has told were Cullen and Dorian. Dorian did his best to help Evangeline move on and Cullen, well Cullen did the best he could. No one really knows how to handle a situation like this. Evangeline just likes having someone that will listen to her problems without judgement. And that's what Cullen does.
Evangeline laid there in her bed. Most of her work was done, if there was something that she was needed for then her advisers would tell her. Her depression over the loss of Solas comes and goes but lately it hasn't gone. He has invaded her dreams once more but this time he has not left. Every night she sees him in her dreams but every night she can't talk to him. He avoids her like the blight. It has been years since the defeat of Corypheus but only one year since Solas returned only to cut off her arm.
"I know it's you Cullen." Evangeline said once she heard her door open. "You don't have to sneak in." She sat up on her bed and waited for Cullen to ascend the staircase to join her.
"Cassandra told me to check on you." He sat down next to her on her bed.
"You all take turns babysitting me don't you?" Cullen frowned. He didn't want to be her babysitter. He loves her, like Solas did, more than Solas did.
He gently put his hand on her leg.
"We worry about you." He took a deep breath. "You usually bounce back but this time you haven't. What is going on."
"It's Solas." She gave him information that he already knew. "He invades my dreams nightly."
"He has before. What's different about this time."
"Before the dreams would come and go but now it is nightly."
"I am sorry." He put his arm around her in attempts to comfort her. She doesn't know this but Solas has appeared in some of Cullen's dreams too. The dream is the same every single time. It is the day Evangeline lost her arm. Cullen gets there just as Solas has finished mutilating her. She has passed out from the blood loss. Solas picks her up in his arms. Cullen, in shock about what had happened, runs up to them. Solas hands Evangeline over to Cullen. Both of them were crying at the sight of her. "Make her happy." Solas stroked her hair one last time. "She deserves it." A tear falls from his face onto her cheek. "I'm sorry." He whispers just before turning his back on them. Even if it was a dream Cullen still found it to be helpful. He has since done nothing but try to make Evangeline happy.
"Have we heard anything about him?" Solas has been quiet since the last time they met. The Inquisition has been searching for Solas for some time now and they know how good he is at staying below the radar.
"Leliana's spies have found nothing so far."
Evangeline just nodded. She promised Solas that she would save him and no matter what she was going to keep that promise.
"Is Lyra in bed?" Evangeline asked.
"Yes. She hates going to bed, carries on so loud she could scare a dragon."
"I'm sorry about that."
"It's fine, I like it. She reminds me of her mother. Full of fire." Evangeline thought that ironic seeing as how Lyra only reminded her of her father Solas.
"I have to get up early." Evangeline began to cover herself under the blankets. "Cassandra wants to do more training." Evangeline laid down on her right side. She still had not gotten used to the fact that she did not have her left forearm and it felt weird to sleep on it.
"Goodnight Inquisitor" Cullen noticed her struggling to cover herself up. He pulled the blanket over her and tucked her in.
"Goodnight Cullen." She closed her eyes and listened to him leave her room.
Her dreams may be different  but one thing always remains the same, Solas.
Evangeline watched as Solas walked through the Eluvian. "Solas!" She screamed at the top of her lungs but he didn't even turn around. Suddenly Viddasala appears before her. Viddasala was determined to get to Solas before Evangeline did. But she underestimated her love for the Dread Wolf.
Evangeline lifted her left arm high in the air and opened a rift to the fade. Viddasala let out an agonizing scream when her body was ripped into the fade.
Evangeline ran around to the Eluvian, it had began to turn dark. Evangeline ran as fast as she could, tripping over rocks that were uneven. Her whole body fell flat on the ground and a rock hit her in the temple. Her eyes became blurry as she felt her blood ran down her face. "Solas" she whispered as if it was motivating her to get up. Pushing herself off the ground she continued her sprint to the Eluvian.
The edges of the Eluvian had just turned dark as Evangeline reached it. Instead of running through the mirror she slammed into it. Realizing she had lost her love once more she started to bang her fist against the glass. She began to cry. The blood from her wound and the tears from her eyes began to mix on her face. She sunk to the ground as she screamed over her once again lost love. "My heart." She said to herself as she curled up into a ball on the ground. "Just come back to me." She tried to wipe the tears from her eyes. "Please."
