Future Me Says: If you like this story, tell me, I know writer's block all too well, tell me any ideas, comments or concerns you have, it'll help a lot. (I wish maybe Stevie or Ally could read this, [probably no though] I and hope you can get over grammatical errors)
*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
"Ugh!" I groan as I slap my hand around my pillows searching for my obnoxious phone. After a frantic search and fearing I wouldn't be able to get the incessant noise to stop, I heard the soft thud of my phone hitting carpet after moving my black comforter. I reached down, ever so lazily, making sure I didn't leave the solace of my satin sheets, snatched up my iPhone and turned off the annoying ringer. This had to have been the third alarm I turned off to get some more shut eye. As I looked down, I realized I had about a half hour to get ready to go over to Hannah Witton's party in LA. I quickly straightened my hair and applied make up so you couldn't see I had taken an ill-advised "nap" at three in the afternoon. I grabbed a simple jean and t-shirt combo because you can never go wrong with simplicity. I made sure I had my wallet, keys and phone before I left. I didn't eat because I figure Hannah's got some pizza rolls or something there. I got to the party to find a few people had already gotten there. Hannah greeted me at the door and brought me to the kitchen where I found chili-cheese fries. They weren't exactly pizza rolls but they'd make do. The doorbell rang and Hannah excused herself to go answer it. I was steady munching on some snacks when she came back.
She started talking about how her time in LA has been but I tuned out when I saw who had just arrived. There was this really beautiful brunette girl with brown eyes and almost as soon as I noticed her, I noticed her arm candy. I unwittingly interrupted Hannah's sentence and asked "Who is that?"
Hannah turned around to follow my line of sight and saw the two women I had been openly staring at. "The taller girl is Stevie Boebi and the woman next to her is Sarah Croce. They're YouTubers and girlfriends." Someone had just made a joke to them as they made their way in the living room and they started laughing. I could see Stevie's dimples and brilliant white teeth from across the room. I couldn't hear her laugh from across this distance and with the music that was playing loudly, but her laugh had to be better than anything I could imagine.
"How serious are they?" I asked, mesmerized.
"They're pretty serious. They've been together for, what, a year, year and a half I think. Let's go ask." Hannah started shoving me towards the living room. My feet skidded but Hannah was a persisted little one and ignored my hushed protests and suddenly I was pushed almost at Stevie and Sarah. "Hey Stevie, Sarah, this is my friend Ally Hills!"
Inside my head I was imagining ways I could get out of the situation. Pretending to get sick? No, that's gross and Stevie would think I'm some kind of freak. I can't be like 'Oh, gotta pee.' Because nobody wants to hear about my bodily functions. Oh, I got it. "Hey, nice to meet you but I'm actually going to head back to the kitchen to grab a drink, my throats dry."
I gestured with my hand and began to turn but then I heard Stevie say "I'll join you, I'm kind of thirsty too. Here, Sarah, watch my purse?"
"Yeah, got it." Sarah said as she started to talk to Hannah about something else. I wasn't paying attention, I was more focused on Stevie walking next to me into the empty kitchen. I instinctively reached for the fridge handle and Stevie did at the same time and my hand grazed hers. I yanked my shaky hand back quickly and muttered an apology but Stevie just brushed it off, opened the fridge and handed me a beer. I accepted and grabbed the bottle opener. I opened my beer first and offered it to Stevie. As she took it, she started the conversation I was too shy to.
"So how do you know Hannah?"
"We've hung out occasionally." I don't know why my answer was kind of vague.
"Cool. Well, I think Hannah has mentioned you before."
"Oh yeah? Nothing bad I hope."
"No, but she did say something about you being into music?"
"Yeah, I sing and play a few instruments. Mainly guitar and drums."
"Nice, I sing too. We should totally hang out and play some music. I actually have a friend interested in starting a band. If you're interested, we can exchange numbers and arrange something?"
"Yeah, totally." She ran back over to Sarah to grab her purse and for the thirty seconds she was gone I nervously chugged my beer. I felt like a little fan girl or something getting all quiet in front of a pretty girl. Stevie came back with her phone out and handed it to me. She had already typed in 'Ally Hills' to the contact. I put in my phone number and handed her my phone.
Hannah and Sarah called Stevie back into the living room for something and she just said "Be sure to text me." Before running back into the other room. I realized I hadn't put the contact name in when I'd handed Stevie the phone so I went to look for her name and she had done that for me already. She wrote her name with a smiley face at the end. I smirked a little at that.
After some more lounging around in the kitchen and chit-chatting with hungry party-goers who walked in searching for the snacks I had already munched on, I decided to sneak out because I was just kind of bored. On my way back to my house my phone vibrated and it was a text from Stevie. I looked at it and it was a picture of a Wii system wearing a beret with a mustache and a cigarette. It was either a Oui Wii or a Nintendo Oui. It made me laugh aloud and some guy walking past me on the street must have thought I was on drugs or something. I got back into my room and popped in a movie for background noise. I sat on my bed thinking of how to reply to Stevie's text. I didn't want to be pushy and reply immediately. I thought about saying something like "Oui Wii, haha lol" but that seemed fake and weird. I closed my eyes for a second to think about what to say and ended up falling asleep again. I looked at the time and it was five hours after Stevie texted me. She hadn't said anything else so maybe she didn't notice I hadn't messaged her back. I was kind of tired, nervous and not really thinking straight but I went with something simple and straight to the point. I hit send after typing "Yo girl, what you up to?"
