(Writer's Note: Sorry for being a little MIA, I'm trying like three different things right now and failing at all of them. Give me more feedback because I want this story to be more of what you guys like too. This chapters a little longer than usual to make up for being MIA.)
After returning to the living room, Stevie and I went back to watching Netflix. I sat on the couch in a cocoon made of blankets getting comfy. Stevie was just sitting normal next to me with a throw blanket loosely laid across her lap. I yawned as the episode started, feeling a little tired. I kept watching the show through droopy eyes. I think at some point I nodded off because I woke up to Netflix saying "Are you still watching?" And Stevie's head in my lap, passed out.
I didn't want to wake her but I glanced out the window and it was now darker outside. I couldn't move and I didn't want to really. I just laid my head back against the couch and closed my eyes, drifting back to sleep again.
When I woke up I was slightly disoriented. I didn't know what time it was, it was pitch black outside, and Stevie was gone. I looked around and I was laying on the couch even though I had gone to sleep sitting up.
"Stevie?" I called out. There was no answer. Was it all just a dream? Is that even possible?
I got up and headed into the kitchen. Sure enough, there was still the pizza box in the recycling bin. I glanced around and didn't see Stevie in sight. I went back to the living room and checked my phone. There weren't any texts or missed calls so I didn't really know what to do. I could call her but I had no idea what she was doing and if I would be bothering her.
I picked up the blankets from the living room and folded them then brought them back into the linen closet. I was doing that when Stevie walked in the front door with two blank brown paper bags. I shut the linen closet door and walked over to her to grab a bag and shut the door behind her.
"Where'd you go? I woke up and you were gone." I said as I walked into the kitchen and put the bag I held on the counter.
Stevie followed me in and put the other bag next to the one I put down. "Well, you were still snoring when I woke up and I didn't want to disturb you. I saw how late it had gotten so I figured I'd get dinner." She said gesturing to the paper bags before emptying the contents on the counter. She pulled out a pint of rice, some Lo Mein noodles, fortune cookies, and in the second bag there was some sushi and two weird plastic containers filled with a brown liquid. I pointed at the containers questioningly and she said "Tea." Then she got out some plates and silverware so I could set the table while she brought the food over.
The spread she had gotten was good but I was a little surprised she knew the type of foods I liked.
We ate in semi-silence. It was one of those moments where the silence wasn't awkward and neither of us felt the compulsion to make small talk. After finishing up dinner, Stevie did the dishes and I started walking back into the living room. As I walked into the living room, I saw my ukulele on the windowsill. I grabbed it and went to go put it upstairs when I remembered where I'd left my guitar.
Putting my ukulele under one arm, I pulled my phone out and texted Cammie, "Hey, is my guitar still at your house?"
Seconds later, Cammie responded, "Yeah, come on over and get it when you can. We're free right now. Ali Spags is here too so we can all hang out."
I walked back into the kitchen as Stevie finished drying the last dish with a hand towel. "Hey, can we go to Shannon and Cammie's? I left my guitar there."
"Sure. Let's go."
We went outside and got in her car. I plugged in my music to the auxiliary cord and we started our short ride to Shannon and Cammie's.
