It had been two weeks and I hadn't seen or heard from Anna. She stopped coming to school and didn't return any of my texts or calls. Even though she was a complete nutcase, I felt the need to check on her, to know that she was still alive. I'm not a heartless person, and after taking care of her for so long I couldn't just brush it off. She may have crossed the line into crazy town and declared us friends-off, but to me, we were still friends.
Things at school had only gotten better. Casey transferred to another school. The students turned on her, as they did me. I didn't join in, and I wasn't ok with what was happening, but it wasn't my place to stop it. I had only just got their approval and I wasn't ready to be in the walls again over a selfish girl who cared for no one but herself.
After her third beating, yeah they beat her up, she left. Maybe she deserved it, maybe she didn't, but I refused to do anything to or with her that I may regret later on. I have said it before, I am not a bully. Just because she had repeatedly tried to ruin my life, didn't mean I would give her the same treatment. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it slightly. There is some sort of satisfaction in watching the bully get a taste of their own medicine. At the same time though, it's awful to see how people my age act; like wild beasts. I am amazed at how quick people can turn on you, and I only hope college offers me more than this.
"I put a bid on a house!" Selene yelled, busting though my door.
It was Friday afternoon and I was patiently waiting for Luke to come over. He had dropped me at my house as soon as school let out, then he dashed out with promises of returning quickly. I was laying on my bed, trying very hard not to smoke. I hadn't since before Anna's breakdown and I was trying hard to keep it that way. I could tell that Luke liked it better when I was sober, so I wanted to keep it that way. I still drank though, baby steps.
"Awesome," I said with a large smile.
Selene had decided that we needed to move. She didn't like the idea of drug dealers and crazy ex-friends knowing where we lived. The second I told her what Anna had said to me the last time I saw her, she freaked out and declared we were moving. The last couple of weeks she had been on a non-stop journey to find us the perfect house. She wanted it big enough for us three girls and the boys.
"It has a huge backyard with a patio, and four rooms. Plus, the kitchen is enormous, and now that we eat more, maybe we could learn to cook." Selene and Vanessa had stopped smoking with me. They said they wanted too also, that our lives were crazy enough without the bad habit. With the drugs gone, our drinking slowed down, and the boys always had some outdoor thing they wanted to do. The less we smoked and drank, the more we wanted to eat. It was slow going, but at least we were eating.
"We should turn that fourth room into a gym, because we may need to work out," I laughed.
"Good point."
"Ladies!" Luke's voice came from the living room, followed by two other familiar male voices; Ansley and Eric.
"I'm gonna go tell Ansley about the house," Selene yelled, jumping off my bed and dashing out of my room.
The boys were like a godsend for us. Just being around them made me and my girls totally different people. Selene had become more girly, always laughing and constantly squealing over something. Vanessa was still her same gothic self, but she was brighter, if that was even possible. It was almost like we had just been waiting around, killing time, until they came. Cheesy, I know.
"My lady!" Luke slurred. He entered my room in a very grand fashion, throwing the door open wide.
He was wearing a white button up shirt with red goo down the front of it, black dress pants and shoes, and a large silky black cape with a very large collar. In his mouth was a pair of fake vampire teeth, and he was holding a bouquet of black and orange roses.
