Chapter Nine

I sat down in the back of the classroom this time. I really don't want Lucas to see me. He might not even be coming, he wasn't at any of our other classes today. I sighed took our my math books. I pulled out my homework and started to work on it. I can't wait to get out of here and go eat at Riley's house.

"Hey Maya." Brandon said standing in front of my desk

"Uh- hey Brandon." I said awkwardly

He moved so that he was sitting right in front of me. He stared at me and I awkwardly closed my math books and looked at him.

"I heard Lucas got you into detention today." He said looking around the room, then back at me

I nodded and put down my papers.

"What did he do?" He asked

"He was just being a jerk, just like every other day." I said crossing my arms

He chuckled then looked over towards the door. Lucas walked in and looked around the room. He saw me and I instantly looked directly at Brandon. He smirked and moved closer to me.

"I can get him to not come over here. You want me to?" He asked

I looked at Lucas as he stared walking towards the back off the classroom. I nodded quickly and Brandon stood up and turned right into Lucas. Lucas groaned and tried to push past Brandon, but he didn't let him.

"She doesn't want to talk to you Friar." Brandon smirked standing in front of Lucas

Lucas clenched his fists and glared at Brandon.

"Don't mess around with her Brandon." Lucas said

Brandon pushed Lucas with his hand and Lucas glared at him even more.

"She told me that she doesn't want you to come over here."

"She can't tell me where to go."

"She likes me. You got her stuck here, and she doesn't like you. Leave Friar."

Lucas took a step closer to Brandon and his face began to turn red with anger. Brandon clenched his fists too.

"I don't want you messing with her Brandon. YOU need to leave." Lucas said angrily

I stood up form my seat and quickly walked up to them.

"Brandon, I didn't want-"

"Maya, sit down. I'm getting him to leave." Brandon snapped

"Don't tell her what to do." Lucas said taking another step closer to Brandon

I walked in front of Lucas and looked up at him.

"Don't start a fight Lucas." I said quietly

He stared at me for a few seconds before glaring at Brandon again. Brandon chuckled and grabbed my waist. He pulled me back and made me stand next to him. Lucas instantly turned red again.

"Let go of her." He snapped

"She doesn't want you here. She wants me." Brandon said

"No, I-"

"Shut up Maya!" Brandon snapped again

I tried to step away from him, but his grip was too strong. Lucas ran up to Brandon and punched him. I gasped and Brandon let go of me as he fell onto the ground. He quickly stood up and tried to punch Lucas, but he moved. Brandon tried punching Lucas again, and he punched him in the stomach.

"Brandon stop!" I shouted

Everyone came around then as they started fighting. I stepped in between them, but Brandon pushed me away from them. Lucas punched Brandon again and kicked him in the stomach.

"Lucas stop! Lucas!" I shouted

"What is going on?!"

Everyone moved as the principal ran to the boys. Brandon and Lucas were pulled apart and the principal stood there glaring at the two of them with her arms crossed.

"Both of you to my office NOW!" She shouted angrily

Lucas glared at Brandon before they both started walking to her office. I wanted to talk to Lucas because I feel like he was protecting me, but why would he? Why would he want to protect me? Why would want to fight Brandon if he is his friend? Are they even really friends?

I walked into Riley's apartment holding my bag tightly. Riley ran up to me and hugged me as I walked in, but she looked worried as she saw my face.

"Maya, are you okay?" She asked softly

I nodded and gave her a fake smile. She didn't look like she totally believed me but she smiled back anyway.

"Maya!" Farkle shouted from the kitchen

I giggled as I saw that he had a bunch of food in his mouth and Auggie, Riley's little brother, was shaking his head at him. Riley put her arm around me as we walked over to Farkle.

"Are you sure you're okay? Did anything happen during detention?" Riley asked again quietly

I shook my head and smiled. I'll tell her later. She shrugged and smiled as Farkle tried to take one of Auggie's fries.

"Farkle, that is not your food." Riley giggled smacking his hand

Auggie and I laughed as Farkle rubbed his hand where Riley slapped him. She giggled and we sat down at the table next to each other.

"I love these fries!" He shouted happily putting one in his mouth

Mrs. Matthews laughed as she put another plate of fries and burgers down on the table. Farkle smiled and he reached over for the fries. I laughed and grabbed and burger and some fries. I'm so hungry.

"Farkle those are Auggie's!" Riley said staring at Farkle

Farkle sighed and sat back down in his seat. Auggie shock his head while staring at Farkle.

"Not cool man, not cool." Auggie said crossing his arms

We all laughed as Auggie bragged about his fries by holding it up in front of Farkle, then quickly putting it into his mouth. Mrs. Matthews giggled and put her hand on Farkle's shoulder.

"Don't worry Farkle, I've got some more fries just for you." She smiled

Farkle nodded and took a big bite of his burger smiling. Why is he always studying and he never really comes over here for dinner anymore? I took another bite of my burger as I thought about his plan to rule the world.

"Tomorrow, I need you to babysit Auggie." Mrs. Matthews said to Riley while placing a plate of fries in front of Farkle

I laughed.

"Okay, can Maya and Farkle help?" She asked smiling at us

"Sure, if they want to." Mrs. Matthew said shrugging

Riley looked at me and I nodded. She smiled again and looked over at Farkle who had ketchup all over his mouth. She giggled as Farkle wiped off his face.

"I don't know-"

"Why not?" Riley asked

Farkle sighed.

"I have a lot of studying to do, and-"

Riley and I stood up and stared at him.

"No, no studying tomorrow." She commanded

"Yeah, you're gonna relax and babysit with us." I said

Farkle sighed and shrugged and Riley smiled, knowing that he wasn't gonna argue with us anymore about it. We sat back down and enjoyed the rest of our dinner.

Lucas and Brandon fight.🔥 Maya doesn't understand why Farkle studies so much and why Lucas might've, maybe, protected her? Maybe.😉😂😂
