Chapter Nine- Intense

Almost immediately after we had undergone contracts and made it out alright we had been tossed into some serious training.

I threw myself straight into the training with a vengeance. I ate, lived and breathed the workouts, drills, weapons practice and strategizing. The training consumed me whole and all I could think about was getting stronger, which I knew I had been.

We were currently listening to tactics, which was taught to us by a middle aged woman with short, shaggy brown hair.

I completely zoned out of the lesson unable to help myself. All I could think about was the next training we had. Combat. With our weapons.

Sure we've been taught how to use our weapons and hand-to-hand combat but combat with weapons we haven't tried yet.

It was Alex and I versus Judy and Jared. It could be said that our opposition had a higher chance of success than us. Judy's demon weapon was a crossbow and Jared's was throwing knives.

Team Terrible Twosome,which was my team, (again I let that idiot choose the team name.) had Alex rocking two Walther PK 380's whilst I was with my stupid katana.

Ok maybe I was being childish.. But seriously Judy had a crossbow and she could manifest arrows, Jared had throwing knives which he could manifest and Alex could manifest any gun he wanted as long as he knew what they looked like (the Walther PK 380 being his favorite). But what could I do? Swing a damn katana.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, completely over my inner childish tantrum. A large booming sound informed us we had a five minute break before we had to move on to weapon combat, which was basically just combat.

"You alright?" Alex said sounding a little concerned. I looked up to meet his gaze and gave a small smile followed by a nod.

"You sure you're not just afraid of how hard were gonna whoop your ass?" Jared put his arm around my shoulders.

"As if idiot. Rin's awesome. She'll probably annihilate us." Judy said winking at me.

I smiled,"The girl speaks the truth. I've mad skills."

"You may have skill but you could never compare to moi." Jared puffed out his chest.

I rolled my eyes standing up.

A gong rung out signaling us to get in position for combat. I could barely hold my excitement.

Finally.

I make my way outdoors to the woods where the combat would take place and curse myself. The woods wasn't exactly the best place for a katana user.

I seen Judy and Jared running ahead most likely trying to find a good ambush point.

"Let's go." I whisper to Alex. He only nods signaling he'd follow behind me.

I make my way in the woods, adrenaline rushing through my veins. I'm on high alert knowing that they would be in the trees, a good place for Judy. Although as I thought it more through Jared could be in a tree or hiding behind one.

As if I didn't already feel enough on edge.

I slowly navigate around the trees that seem to go on for miles as I crouch.

Snap.

As soon as I hear a tree branch I whip around to the source of the sound which of course was Alex. Standing there with an embarrassed look on his face.

Ugh. I was paired with an idiot.

I shook my head in disapproval signaling him to climb up a tree and follow giving me cover. That's when we heard it. A scream.

As soon as I hear the scream I'm running in its direction, ignoring Alex's protesting shouts as he tries following.

I run with all my might, the nagging feeling I have increases by the minute.

I rush by trees until I reach a clearing. I soon find the source of the screams.
