Jordan and I were always close, and grew even closer all the way up until our fourteenth birthday. That’s when Henry Allen and Warren McColl appeared.

That’s when it all started.

I guess it didn’t really start until the first day of freshman year, though.  Our first day of high school.  It was the first year we had ever not had all the same classes.  It was also the first time either one of us had gone absolutely boy crazy.

“MOM!!!” we screamed at the top of our lungs after crashing through the door.

“What!”  She yelled in panic.  “What’s wrong!  Where’s the fire?  Who died?”

Breathless, we looked at each other and then busted into a fit a tearful laughter.  “No one died mom,” Jordan said through giggles.

“It’s really quite the exact opposite, actually,” I said before taking a few breaths and walking over to the fridge.

“It was a lot more like something was born!”

“Yep.  Like a little flower bud of love…” I said dreamily whilst grabbing a bag of grapes.  Jordan looked at me like I was an idiot.

“A little flower bud of love?!  Really?  What is that supposed to mean, dummy!  That makes no sense.  No sense at all.”

“Well? What would make sense Miss Smarty Pants?”

“Hmm… I don’t know, anything but a stupid flower bud!”

                “Wow, so creative!”

                “Well-”

“GIRLS!”  We both whipped our heads around to stare at our mom, wide-eyed with innocence. “Why don’t you just tell me what happened?”  She laughs.

                “Well,” I started.

                “There’s this guy.”

“He’s in my third period this semester.”

                “And his name is-”

                “Henry!”

                “Warren!” we shouted simultaneously.

“Oh I see…” mom seemed to be calculating our outburst, so I had decided to hop up onto the counter and munch on some grapes.  “Well,” she sighed.  “I guess there’s not much else to do but… Congratulate you on your very first crushes!”  We blushed and laughed.
