Chapter Two
I tap my fingers impatiently on my knee, waiting for auditions to end. It's been about an hour since Kelsey got her four yes's, and nothing anyone has said or sung has made me forget about her. I compare anyone who walks onstage to her. Their voice, their choice in music, their style, their look, everything about them. Kelsey beat them out every time. I can't stop thinking about her: her voice, her smile, her eyes; oh, her eyes are enchanting. I think Simon can tell I'm a bit... distracted, but, thankfully, he says nothing. Finally auditions are over for the day, and I call up Marissa.
"Hey Demi!" she answers.
"Hey Marissa. Can we meet somewhere? I have to talk to you." I ask immediately. She agrees, and within fifteen minutes I'm pulling into the Starbucks parking lot. I walk in, and Marissa waves me over to her table.
"I already ordered for you." she says, handing me my drink. I smile and sit across from her.
"You know me so well." I say, taking a sip. Exactly right.
"You're right, I can read you like a book. So well that I can tell you're in love." Marissa replies, taking a sip of her own coffee.
"Pushy much?" I reply.
"Oh c'mon, spill!" she insists, tugging on my sleeve. I laugh.
"You are such a child!" she shrugs. "She auditioned this morning." I say quietly, looking down at the table. Marissa is quiet for a moment.
"You mean... a contestant? She made it through?" she asks finally. I nod slowly. "Does she feel the same way?"
"I have no idea. She stared into my eyes when she sang. Oh Marissa, she's exactly like me!" I exclaim. A few people turn to look at us, so I lower my voice to a harsh whisper. "She's amazing. She likes the same music that I do, her voice is incredible. She can go all the way, I can not be in love with someone who can do as well as she can!" she takes my hand and squeezes it,
"You can't fight it, Demi." she says quietly. I sigh.
"I don't even know if she's bi." I whisper, hoping no one but my best friend heard that particular sentence. Marissa is quiet for a minute, lost in thought, I'd guess. She suddenly looks up at me and grins.
"Want me to find out for you?" she asks slyly, with a slight smirk playing on her lips. Knowing her excellent snooping skills, I nod vigorously. "Text me everything you know, and I'll take care of the rest." I stand and give a huge hug.
"Thank you so much. You're the best friend ever." I whisper in her ear. We pull away, and walk out of Starbucks together.
"Now get your ass back home and text me!" Marissa says, and walks to her car. I laugh and get into my own. I turn on the radio and pull out of the parking lot. As I'm about ten minutes from my house, Heart Attack comes on the radio. I laugh, and look out the window to see if anyone is around. Since its a nice day, plenty of people are out walking. I roll down all my windows and crank up the radio. A few people turn to look at the crazy person blaring Heart Attack for all of LA to hear. Eventually they realize that the crazy girl is Demi Lovato, blaring her own song. I laugh at everyone's shocked face when they see me dancing in my car. I see lots of people pulling out phones and taking videos, so I sing along to the song, waving out the window at red lights. When the song ends, I almost double over laughing, rolling up the windows and turning the radio back down. I love doing this sort of thing, almost like promoting my own music. I hope this ends up on Twitter. I pull up to my house with my smile still plastered to my face. I throw my keys on the table and pull out my phone to text Marissa.
'Ok, her name is Kelsey Wright, she's 21, originally from San Diego but moved to LA a few years ago, plays guitar, long blonde hair dip dyed purple, loves rock music.' I text Marissa. Now, I wait for my friend to do her magic.
Fifteen minutes later, I get a text from Marissa.
'Wow, she is obsessed with u. her twitter and instagram r dedicated to u. she bought ur new album 2. oh, and her facebook status from a month ago changed from being in relationship with some chick to being single. u got a shot dem ;D'
I read the text over and over again in disbelief. She likes my music. She bought my album. I have a chance. I can make her mine. I text back Marissa. 'Thx girl. ur the best' and head to my room. I collapse on the bed and stare at the ceiling. Kelsey is a lesbian, or bi at the least. I have a chance. I can have her all to myself, I just have to convince her to love me the way I do. I chuckle at the thought. I really don't know anything about her, just her taste in music and what she looks like. She could be a horrible person, and I might never know. I shake my head in disbelief. I told myself I wouldn't fall for anyone this easily, that they would have to gain my trust. Yet, Kelsey just comes around and looks at me with her beautiful blue eyes, and all of those barriers just collapse, leaving me raw and exposed. I plug my phone into the charger and change into a T-shirt and shorts. I slide into bed, and slip into a peaceful sleep, filled with dreams of a rocker girl with long hair leaning in and kissing me softly.
A/N: I'm trying to make the chapters longer, so here's my best. I tried. I'm not very good at making long chapters, so here's my pathetic attempt. so yeah, tell me what you think!!
Oh, and the girl I have playing Kelsey is Haley Klinkhammer. She is a girl who does covers on YouTube and writes her own songs as well. She is really inspiring to me, I really love her music. Her YouTube account is Haleybop5726 (I'll put a link to the side for y'all). So yeah, check her out, she's really cool, and is an amazing singer. Now, she doesn't actually have dip-dyed hair, but hey, its the thought that counts!
