Chapter Seven
*Demi's POV
Sparks.
No, fireworks.
The kind that crack and spin in multiple colors and sounds. The kind that spread across the sky, making you tip your head back and watch as the colors fade and the smoke slowly drifts with the wind.
That feeling in the pit of your stomach when you watch it shoot into the sky, trying to predict its colors. When your ears ring and and you jump after the big bang before the spiral of lights explode across the sky.
That how I feel right now, with Kelsey.
Sparks.
Fireworks.
Kelsey presses me against the wall, her hands above my head. I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me. Her lips trail over my jawline. I tip my head back, sighing quietly.
"I've wanted to do this all night." She whispers, nibbling on my earlobe. I flip us so Kelsey is against the wall.
"And I've wanted to do this all night." I say, kissing her hard. I thread my fingers through her hair, careful not to tug. Her hands travel up and down my sides, pulling me as close as possible. She breaks the kiss and jumps, wrapping her legs around my waist. I lean her against the wall again, kissing her firmly. Pulling away from the wall, I walk over to the bed. I let her down gently, getting in beside her. Immediately, she climbs on top of me, her lips connecting with mine once again. She grinds her hips against mine, and I moan into the kiss. I pull off her tank top, throwing across the room. She does the same for me. She looks me in the eyes, her face inches from mine. She rests her forehead against mine.
"Do you know how incredible I feel right now?" She whispers, her breath hot against my lips. I give her a small smile.
"I'm on top of the world." I whisper back. She laughs softly.
"Actually, I think I am." She says, gesturing with her head to our position. I laugh with her, before pressing my lips to hers.

I wake up literally tangled up with Kelsey. Her head is resting on my shoulder as she sleeps peacefully. My arms are around her almost protectively, and my legs drape over hers. Her smooth skin is soft against mine, and I pull her closer to me, savoring this moment. I hear her murmur in her sleep, slowly waking up. I smile.
"'Morning." Kelsey whispers, turning her head towards mine.
"'Morning." I reply, pressing my forehead to hers. I feel a hand snake up my side up to my hair, tangling itself in it. My smile grows. I close the gap between us, sending sparks throughout my body. It's a slow, passionate kiss; following each other's movements and reactions.
"You take my breath away." I whisper against her lips, closing my eyes.
"I feel sparks." she murmurs as I graze my lips along her jawline. She lets out a sigh of pleasure.
"Me too." I whisper honestly. I open my eyes to see her intense gaze locked on mine.
"Demi," she whispers. "will you be my girlfriend?" My lips spread into a smile.
"Of course, Kelsey." I reply, brushing the hair away from her eyes. We silent for awhile, just staring into each other's eyes.
"You realize we can't go public with this?" Kelsey finally says. I nod.
"Everyone would go crazy, you'd probably get kicked off the show and I'd be fired. It can't happen, not until after X Factor." I say regretfully. She nods.
"Our dirty little secret." She whispers, snuggling up close to me. I sigh in agreement, closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
***
I wake up hearing music playing. I slowly open my eyes, still half asleep.
"I'll stop the whole world. I'll stop whole world from turning into a Monster, and eating us alive."
"Demi," Kelsey murmurs next to me.
"Yeah?"
"Why is your ring tone Paramore?" She asks.
"Because YOLO." I reply groggily. She rolls her eyes.
"Just answer it!" Groaning, I sit up and reach over bedside table to reach my phone. It's my manager, Mark.
"Shit." I mutter. "Hello?" I answer hesitantly, trying to sound as awake as possible. I don't think it worked.
"Where have you been? I've been calling you all night! You have a flight in eight hours to Charleston." Mark snaps.
"Sorry! I'm... at Marissa's." I say nervously. Mark doesn't seem to notice my hesitation, as he carries on.
"You need to be at the airport soon. Hurry up." He says, hanging up straight after.
"Well bye to you too." I say sarcastically, shutting off my phone. I know he's not normally so bitter. He's worried about me, and our schedule. He's really a nice guy; I'm glad he's looking out for me.
"Who was that?" Kelsey asks.
"My manager, Mark. Apparently he was calling all night since I didn't go back to the hotel and I have a flight in couple hours. I told him I was at Marissa's place." I explain. "I should probably call Marissa and tell her he thinks I was there." I pull out my phone, and call her.
"Hey D!" She answers.
"Hey girl. So, I kind of told Mark I spent the night at your house." I admit sheepishly. I hear her laughing.
"Were you at You Know Who's house?" Marissa asks.
"Maybe...." I say. I hear her squeal through the phone. I yank it away from my ear.
"Can you not?" I ask sarcastically.
"I expect all details! How did it go, was it perfect, was it magical, were there sparks? Ooh, I bet there were sparks! Do you have sex hair? I can feel the happiness flowing through the phone!" Marissa rambles in a sing-song voice. Kelsey laughs next me.
"Wait—are you still at her house?" Marissa asks.
"Yes she is!!" Kelsey trills into the phone. I glare at her, and she laughs.
"Uhh, oops?" Marissa says. I groan.
"Ok, well if Mark or anyone asks, I was at your place. Maybe post a selfie on twitter from our last stay together to make it convincing." I say, getting back on topic.
"Ok. How about that one where the girls drew on your face while you were sleeping?" Marissa suggests. Kelsey agrees excitedly.
"How about not that one." I say, giggling. "Alright, I've got to get ready for my flight. Bye Marissa!"
"Bye Demi. Bye Kelsey!!" Marissa screams into the phone. Kelsey leans over to talk.
"Buuuuuyyyyyy!!" She drawls, laughing. I hang up before either if them could say anything else.
"I think you and Marissa could be great friends. You're exactly alike." I say seriously. Kelsey's expression breaks my straight face, and I collapse into giggles.
"Hey Demi?" Kelsey says.
"Hmm?"
"You do realize we're not wearing clothes, right?" She asks.
"Oh yeah. I should change." I say hastily, standing up quickly. She nods, standing as well.
"Hey...umm, where are my clothes?" I ask sheepishly, looking around the room. Kelsey looks around for a minute before pointing them out. As I put on my clothes from the day before, Kelsey pulls on a Paramore t-shirt and and sweatpants. Even now, with no makeup, and sex hair, she looks beautiful.
Suddenly, I don't want to leave.
"Did you put on a Paramore tee because Monster is my ringtone?" I ask Kelsey. She giggles.
"No, but that is one of my favorite songs." She says. "I can play it on the guitar." My jaw drops.
"Can you play it for me?" I ask. She nods, walking over to grab her guitar. She pulls up two stools, inviting me to sit next to her. When she starts playing, she goes into a different world, a world all her own, and she takes me into her world. It's breathtaking.
"You were my conscious;
So silent, now you're like water.
We started drowning,
Not like we'd sink any farther.
I let my heart go.
It's somewhere down at the bottom.
I'll get a new one,
And come back for the hope that you've stolen."
Kelsey's voice echoes around the room. I watch her play the guitar with ease, singing and playing seemingly effortless. Her bangs fall slightly over one eye, but she leaves them there. Her voice is so powerful during the chorus, and I find myself mouthing the words and nodding my head to the beat.
She looks at me, nodding for me to sing the second verse with her.
"I'm only human. I've got a skeleton in me.
But I'm not the villain.
Despite what you're always preaching.
Call me a traitor.
I'm just collecting your victims.
They're getting stronger.
I hear them calling.
They're calling.
I'll stop the whole world.
I'll stop the whole world from turning into a Monster,
And eating us alive.
Don't you ever wonder how we'd survive?
Well now now that you're gone,
The world is ours."
I stop singing and let Kelsey do the bridge. We're not trying to impress anyone; we're just singing. It feels really awesome to just sing for the joy of singing, instead of for the joy of an audience. Kelsey looks up from her guitar at me, and stops playing, just singing. Her eyes meet mine.
"Don't you ever wonder how we'd survive?
Well now that you're gone,
The world is ours."
We stare at each other. Kelsey pushes her hair back with her fingers.
"This feels like High School Musical." she says finally.
"What?"
"In the first movie. When Troy and Gabriella are singing the song with Kelsie, which is a sweet name, just saying. Anyway, they sang the song and then Ms. Darbus came out and said "Bolton, Montez. You have a callback." In that dramatic way she does. And they all freaked out and they were like 'Oh we weren't even trying to impress anyone, we were just singing. Like kindergarten!" Kelsey says in a high pitched voice. We laugh.
"That's how I feel right now. We were just singing to sing, but I feel like someone is going to walk in and say we got a callback or something huge like that." She explains. I laugh shaking my head.
"How many times have you watched High School Musical?" I ask. She shrugs.
"Somewhere between five and fifty-five, most likely the latter." She says seriously. We burst out laughing.
"But seriously. It felt..." She trails off.
"Amazing,"
"Incredible,"
"Magical,"
"Perfect." We say in unison. I smile at her, wrapping my arms around her.
"I've got to get back." I say regretfully. She nods.
"I know. Just one more thing?" She asks, clearly stifling a laugh.
"Hm?" I glance at her suspiciously.
"You have a hickey on your neck."A/N
